Bangalore: Unidentified miscreants set a Tamil Nadu state transport bus on fire on Tuesday night attacking an unsuspecting group of travellers from Bangalore to Chennai.

But the police are still clueless about who was behind this attack.

However, the other attack on Tuesday night seemed to have a clear link with the Sethusamudram project – the target being the home of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's daughter Selvi.

A note left by the miscreants threatened both Karunanidhi and Union Shipping Minister from Tamil Nadu TR Balu.

But MK is not the one to take things lying down. “These Ram devotees have displayed what they are made of,” he said.

Security has been beefed up in Bangalore and Tamil Nadu however buses are plying as usual.

Though, normalcy has been restored, the incident has hit another sore spot – the uncomfortable alliance between the JDS and BJP.

Yesterdays' incident happened on the basis of Karunanidhi's statement. I have asked them to take action,” Chief Minister of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy said.

On whether there is a political hand in this case, he said, “After getting some information I can take some action on this or say something. And on continuing with the BJP, our party will decide.”

The saffron parties maintain that Karunanidhi should be restrained in his comments on the Ram Setu controversy.

“We strongly condemn the violence but Karunanidhi must know that he must express feelings with restraint,” BJP Spokesperson S Suresh Kumar said.

The two incidents that caught the city unaware are already getting political colours. But the fact remains that two innocent people lost their lives and the identities of those behind the incident are yet to be established.
