Karunanidhi greets Rahul, welcomes changes in Cong


Chennai, Sept 25: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday greeted Rahul Gandhi on his becoming the general secretary of the Congress.

In a letter to Rahul, he said his appointment showed that the party was always ready to share responsibilities with the younger generation.

"You are from a family which is very much part of our freedom struggle and involved in the shaping of the destiny of India. This historic background will stand you in good stead", he said.

He wished that Rahul attained a still higher position to work more effectively for the cause of the country.

The DMK leader also congratulated Congress president Sonia Gandhi to the `timely decisions' for the growth of the party.

In a letter to Sonia, he said the changes effected in the Congress party and entrustment of higher responsibilities to the younger generation was really a welcome development.

"You have chosen the appropriate talents for the party's posts. I am quite sure that the incumbents chosen will prove their mettle in enhancing the image of the party", he said.
