Mumbai Police on Monday claimed to have averted bomb blasts during Navratri by arresting 20 people in connection with the bomb blasts across the country. The arrested people are allegedly involved in sending terror mails from Mumbai.
Addressing the press conference in Mumbai, Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor said that on 28 September, three people were arrested with Wi-Fi detectors. These were the people, who sent the email from Navi Mumbai and Khalsa College. The Police say that there people are involved in the blasts.
The police also said that they have seized three pen drives and five laptops, including the laptop which was used for the email.
"One of the IM co-founders, Riyaz Bhatkal has not been arrested," said Gafoor.
Giving additional information, Mumbai's Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said that 10 people made the bombs and one person took explosives from Mangalore to Pune to Surat.
"The ones already known are the five people arrested. After that, three more were arrested. On October 4, two suspects were arrested and on October 5, nine more suspects were arrested.
Mumbai police gave details about one suspect, Mohammed Mansoor Aktar Peerboy, who worked in a MNC as principal software engineer. He was arrested on September 28 from Pune.
The second arrested person is technical support advisor, Asif Basiruddin Sheikh, who is 22 years old. He is a mechanical engineer, Maria said. The third person involved in sending emails is Mukhbir Qadir.
Maria informed that the suspects did a recce in Sangpada, Chembur, CST. Hanif Sayed was involved in planting the blast with Riyaz Bhatkal in Hyderabad and the whole conspiracy was hatched in the presence of Sadiq, Maria said.

பம்பாய் மதரஸாவுக்குள் ஓரின பாலியல் பலாத்காரம், கொலை
அக்டோபார் 2006 இல் 16 வயது முகம்மது சேக் என்ற இளைஞர், பம்பாயில் உள்ள தாருல் உலூம் இஸ்லாமியா மதரஸாவில் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டு கிடந்தார்.
இவர் ஓரின பலாத்காரம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் பரிசோதனையில் தெரியவந்தது.
"என் மகன் இந்த மதரஸாவுக்குள்தான் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளான். இதில் மதரஸாவின் இமாமின் மகன் தொடர்பு இருக்கலாம்." என்று தந்தை கூறுகிறார்.
போலீஸ் கமிஷனரிடம் இந்த சிறுவனின் பெற்றோர்கள் நடையாக நடக்கிறார்கள். எதுவும் நடக்கவில்லை.

The Darul Uloom Islamia is one of Mumbai's many madrasas- an islamic seminary and a cradle of learning. But it now faces allegations of abuse, sodomy and even murder.
Sixteen-year-old Mohammad Shaikh was found dead in the madrasa premises on October 3, 2006. One year on, no answers are forthcoming in the case.
''Someone murdered him. There is also a case of rape. Someone was strangled inside the mosque. Whether he is the Imam's son or someone else, they should know, the people who live there. But no one comes out with any answer,'' said Jamiruddin Shaikh, Mohammad Shaikh's father.
The boy's grief-stricken parents are demanding answers but the Noor-e-Mohammadi Muslim Jamat, which runs the Madrassa, is on the defensive.
''If anything happens inside or outside the madrasa, the responsibility is not of the madrasa. If your son comes here and does some mischief, it's not our fault. When the boy died, the madrasa was closed. The boy had even given us a letter, saying he needed to go home and he never returned,'' said Aziz Chunawala, Vice President, Noor-e-Mohammadi Muslim Jamat.
Distraught parents have repeatedly approached the local police but the case is going nowhere. Their only hope now lies in the police commissioner with whom the complaints are pending.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government’s education department is probing a Mumbai school which the Shiv Sena alleges is forcing the Bible on non-Christian students.
The Shiv Sena alleges the St Augustine High School in Navi Mumbai is forcing students to read the Bible against their wishes. Hasan Mushrif, Minister of State for School Education, told CNN-IBN the action would be taken against the school if the allegations are found correct.
"I have an ordered a probe to find out if the school is spreading Christianity and forcing Bible lessons on students," said Mushrif.
St Augustine’s has rejected the allegations. "We have all kinds of prayers in our assembly—we have Vande Mataram. No student is forced to do anything against his or her religion. All students are alike to us," says Head Mistress Lily Zachariah.
This is not the first time that a Christian institution is being probed. Christian leaders say probes and government attention on them strangely increase when the time comes for admissions. Abraham Mathai, General Secretary of All India Christian Council of Maharashtra, alleges the probe is politically motivated.
"Some disgruntled MPs who would not be able to get admission for their own people would be raising these issues to get back at the schools," says Mathai.
