The public prosecution department has called for a 15-month jail sentence for a priest from Overburg for the possession of child pornography and attempting to molest three girls aged four, seven and nine.
The 60-year-old priest is also accused of taking 'sexual' photographs of a seven-year-old girl at a swimming pool in Kootwijk last October.

LOS ANGELES—The Jesuits have agreed to pay $1.6 million to the family of a Roman Catholic priest who committed suicide after alleging he was molested by a Jesuit brother at a retirement home run by the religious order, the family's attorney said Wednesday.
The Society of Jesus, commonly known as Jesuits, reached the settlement with the family of the late Rev. James Chevedden on Thursday, the second day of a jury trial in Santa Clara Superior Court in San Jose, said attorney Mark Meuser.
A Jesuit official confirmed the settlement, but said the order does not admit liability in the case. John McGarry, the provincial superior for the California Jesuits, also insisted that the late priest's allegations of sexual abuse were not central to the case.
The priest's brother, John Chevedden, said Wednesday that the settlement brought some closure, but didn't ease the pain.
"It's an important step," he said. "It shows how my brother suffered under the Jesuit hierarchy."
Chevedden spent the early years of his Jesuit career in Taiwan, but returned to the United States in 1995 after suffering what appeared to be a nervous breakdown, Meuser said. He was placed at the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos to recover, but jumped off scaffolding in 1998 and severely injured both his legs.

later, when Connor was under investigation in another molestation case.
In 2001, Connor pleaded no contest to one count of lewd conduct with a vulnerable adult and was ordered to serve six months of house arrest for sexually abusing mentally disabled adults who worked at the retirement home. The Jesuits also agreed to pay $7.5 million to the two disabled men.
In 2002, however, Connor moved back to Sacred Heart and Chevedden told his family and his therapist about his own alleged abuse by Connor. He also made several attempts to leave the facility, which houses elderly, retired and infirm Jesuits.
Jesuit superiors met with Chevedden but found the allegations were not credible and called the lawsuit "groundless."
Two years later, on his 56th birthday, Chevedden jumped to his death from a six-story building in San Jose. His family filed a sexual abuse and wrongful death lawsuit against the Jesuits in May 2005.
"It's depressing that something like that could happen in an order," said Chevedden's brother. "The Jesuits proclaimed the highest standard for ethical conduct."

70 year old former priest convicted of maintaining a sexual relationship with a person under the age of 17 has been jailed in the Launceston Criminal Court.
Gregory Laurence Ferguson was sentenced today to three years imprisonment with an 18 month non-parole period.
Ferguson sexually abused a 12 year old boarder at Burnie's Marist College in 1970, when he was a teacher and priest there.
Ferguson was convicted on two other sexual abuse charges earlier this year, and was jailed for two years.
He now has a total of five years imprisonment, with a minimum non-parole period of of two and half years.
Sentencing Ferguson today, Justice Ewan Crawford said the victim had been psychologically distressed by the crime, and was still disturbed by the events at Marist College.
Justice Crawford remarked that although Ferguson suffered from poor health and no other offences had been recorded against him since 1971, a significant period of imprisonment was necessary.
He did not add Ferguson to the sexual offenders list, saying he was unlikely to re-offend.

A CHILD protection group has called on the Anglican Church to defrock a priest due for release from jail tomorrow after serving time for child sex offences.
Robert Francis Sharwood, 62, of Brisbane, was jailed for 12 months last November after being found guilty of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy in Brisbane more than 30 years ago.
He is due to be released from a Brisbane jail tomorrow.
Bravehearts spokeswoman Hetty Johnston said Sharwood still remained an ordained minister, despite Anglican Archbishop Philip Aspinall removing his licence to operate as a priest in the diocese in 2002.
The church is awaiting the decision of its Professional Standards Board, which began examining the Sharwood case last November but could take no further action once he was jailed.
The process involves allowing Sharwood to make a submission before any decision is made on his Anglican orders, and could allow him to cross-examine his victim.
"The church is giving him a hearing so it can establish why he should not be a priest," Ms Johnston told AAP.pe"I would have thought the answer is simple: he's a convicted paedophile.
"You've got to drag the church kicking and screaming to this point - it's an insult."
In Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, Ms Johnston today will renew calls for a Senate inquiry into the way in which organisations such as churches deal with child abuse.
"This is not a witch-hunting exercise, but really a matter of necessity and critical moral issues," she said.
"The church needs to get all of this stuff out of the shadows."
Archbishop Aspinall last week stated offenders within the church would not be permitted to "continue to exercise a ministry which exposes vulnerable people to further harm".
But he said the church had to abide by a "thorough and just" process.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Navajo Nation District Court in Shiprock.

Also, two friends have pledged to a federal judge they will watch McGuire to ensure he abides by his bond conditions while awaiting trial.
McGuire was given a bond this week despite the feds arguing he is a danger to children.

பெரம்பலூர் மாவட்டம், ஜெயங்கொண்டம் அருகேயுள்ள வரதராஜன் பேட்டையில் வின்சென்ட் செபாஸ்டின் (51) என்ற பாதிரியார் அங்குள்ள பேராலயத்தில் பணியாற்றி வந்தார்.
இவர் கடந்த வருடம் தஞ்சாவூரில் உள்ள மாதா கோட்டையில் இருக்கும் லூர்து சகாய அன்னை பேராலயத்தில் பாதிரியாராக பணியாற்றி வந்தார். பின்னர் அங்கிருந்து இங்கு இடமாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டார்.
லூர்து சகாய அன்னை பேராலயத்திற்குட்பட்டு காவிரி தொண்டு நிறுவனத்தை சேர்ந்த 27 மகளிர் சுயஉதவிக் குழுக்கள் இருக்கின்றன.
இந்த மகளிர் சுய உதவிக் குழுக்களை சேர்ந்த பெண்களுக்கு வங்கியில் கடன் உதவி கிடைக்க வேண்டுமென்றால் செபாஸ்டின் கையெழுத்து போட வேண்டும். அப்போது தான் லோன் கிடைக்குமாம். ஆனால் செபாஸ்டின் லோனுக்காக கையெழுத்து கேட்டு வரும் பெண்களிடம், என்னிடம் உல்லாசமாக இருந்தால் உடனடி கையெழுத்து என்று வற்புறுத்தி செக்ஸ் தொல்லை கொடுத்துள்ளார்.
வேறு வழியில்லாமல் பல பெண்கள் செபாஸ்டினின் காம இச்சைக்கு பலியாகியுள்ளனர். இந்த விவகாரம் அந்த கிராமத்தில் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு தெரிந்து, அவர்கள் செபாஸ்டினை கண்டித்துள்ளனர். அது தவிர ஊர் கூட்டத்தை கூட்டியும் கடுமையாக எச்சரித்துள்ளனர். இதையடுத்து அவர் ஊரார் முன்பு மண்டியிட்டு மன்னிப்பு கேட்டுள்ளார்.

பெரம்பலூர் மாவட்டம், ஜெயங்கொண்டம் அருகேயுள்ள வரதராஜன் பேட்டையில் வின்சென்ட் செபாஸ்டின் (51) என்ற பாதிரியார் அங்குள்ள பேராலயத்தில் பணியாற்றி வந்தார்.
இவர் கடந்த வருடம் தஞ்சாவூரில் உள்ள மாதா கோட்டையில் இருக்கும் லூர்து சகாய அன்னை பேராலயத்தில் பாதிரியாராக பணியாற்றி வந்தார். பின்னர் அங்கிருந்து இங்கு இடமாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டார்.
லூர்து சகாய அன்னை பேராலயத்திற்குட்பட்டு காவிரி தொண்டு நிறுவனத்தை சேர்ந்த 27 மகளிர் சுயஉதவிக் குழுக்கள் இருக்கின்றன.
இந்த மகளிர் சுய உதவிக் குழுக்களை சேர்ந்த பெண்களுக்கு வங்கியில் கடன் உதவி கிடைக்க வேண்டுமென்றால் செபாஸ்டின் கையெழுத்து போட வேண்டும். அப்போது தான் லோன் கிடைக்குமாம். ஆனால் செபாஸ்டின் லோனுக்காக கையெழுத்து கேட்டு வரும் பெண்களிடம், என்னிடம் உல்லாசமாக இருந்தால் உடனடி கையெழுத்து என்று வற்புறுத்தி செக்ஸ் தொல்லை கொடுத்துள்ளார்.
வேறு வழியில்லாமல் பல பெண்கள் செபாஸ்டினின் காம இச்சைக்கு பலியாகியுள்ளனர். இந்த விவகாரம் அந்த கிராமத்தில் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு தெரிந்து, அவர்கள் செபாஸ்டினை கண்டித்துள்ளனர். அது தவிர ஊர் கூட்டத்தை கூட்டியும் கடுமையாக எச்சரித்துள்ளனர். இதையடுத்து அவர் ஊரார் முன்பு மண்டியிட்டு மன்னிப்பு கேட்டுள்ளார்.

இதை நேரில் பார்த்த மக்கள் மீண்டும் எச்சரித்துள்ளனர். ஆனால் அவர் திரும்பவும் மன்னிப்பு கேட்பதும், அதன் பின்னர் காம களியாட்டங்களை தொடர்வதையும் வழக்கமாகவே வைத்துள்ளார்.
இது தவிர பேராலயத்திற்கு வாரம் தோறும் பிரசங்கத்திற்கு வருபவர்களிடம், ஆபாச வார்த்தைகளை பேசி அதற்கு அசிங்கமான விளக்கமும் கொடுத்து அனைவரையும் முகம் சுளிக்க வைத்துள்ளார்.

Priest Sentenced in Stalking Case

BARTOW — A former Lakeland Catholic priest pleaded guilty to burglary, false imprisonment, battery and aggravated stalking charges today.
Walter Fisher, 51, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Neil Roddenbery to four years probation and ordered to undergo treatment and counseling.
Fisher had been jailed since 2005 after he was accused of stalking and attacking a woman in 2004.
The woman, Bozena Zelisko, told Lakeland police investigators she had known Fisher for several years, having met him in their homeland of Poland and becoming reacquainted when she moved to New Jersey and he was a priest at her church. When she moved to Florida in 2004, Fisher became a priest at the church she attended, Church of the Resurrection in Lakeland.
She began to feel uncomfortable as Fisher made frequent uninvited visits to her home and she stopped answering the door, reports state.
On Oct. 12, 2004, Zelisko said Fisher forced his way into her home by breaking the chain lock on her door and pulled the telephone from the jack, police reports stated.
He started removing his clothes, held her tightly, ripped her skirt and blouse off, and forced her to the floor, the report said. She fought back and after managing to free herself, grabbed her skirt, ran outside and hid until Fisher left, the report stated.
Since then Zelisko has returned to Poland.
As part of his sentence, Fisher, who is also known as Wladyslaw Gorak, was ordered to surrender his passport, remain in the United States and have no contact with Zelisko.

The Reverend Monsignor Geoff Baron, the dean of St Patrick's Cathedral in Australia's second biggest city, Melbourne, was videotaped swearing at and abusing a group of teenagers using the cathedral grounds as a skate park.
"Move, you f------ fool," Baron tells one skater in the video, slapping one of the group across the head and prompting a torrent of abuse in reply.
Pointing to a skater lying on the ground, Baron is heard telling the youth "Little foreigner there, look at the sleepy eyes, black hair".
"At least he's got hair. You f------ bald prick," one youth replies. Others spat on and shoved the furious priest.
The embarrassed Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Hart, placed Baron on indefinite leave after the outburst appeared on YouTube, while security guards began patrolling the cathedral grounds on Wednesday amid threats of reprisal attacks.
"I want to relieve the dean of the pressures and responsibilities he carries as dean of the cathedral," Hart said, promising further action.
Baron apologized for the outburst on Tuesday, but on radio described the skaters as "jackals and hyenas" who had provoked him with allegations he was a pedophile.
"It was outrageous behavior. I let myself down terribly badly, quite clearly, and I've also brought scandal and shock to other people," he told local radio.
The video clip of the outburst, which was filmed a year ago but only recently posted on YouTube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=HQAfalqo340), was viewed tens of thousands of times

The Rev. Mark Sorvillo -- stripped of his priestly collar last year -- traded his casual summer shirt for a prison uniform Friday.
Sorvillo, 54, pleaded guilty to felony theft for stealing nearly $200,000 from St. Margaret Mary parish on the North Side. Under a plea deal approved by Judge Diane Gordon Cannon, he received a four-year sentence. He will likely serve two years, sources said.
"The defendant admitted he had opened sealed collection bags," among other methods of theft, Assistant State's Attorney Dianne Ghaster said in court Friday.

Sorvillo became pastor of St. Margaret Mary in 1994. Its parishioners -- who include State's Attorney Dick Devine -- range from lower middle class to affluent.
According to prosecutors, Sorvillo skimmed more than $40,000 from church collections between June 1999 and March 2005, wrote checks from parish accounts to himself and his creditors, and charged more than $62,000 at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's and Marshall Field's to the parish. He also inflated his own pay by 25 percent, according to an audit by the Archdiocese of Chicago.
In addition, Sorvillo used church funds to pay his credit card bills, charging meals, trips and purchases at high-end stores to the parish. The charges included meals at such famous New York restaurants as Cafe Des Artistes and Jean Georges, as well as restaurants in Venice, Rome and Florence.
Sorvillo resigned from St. Margaret Mary in February 2006 after a "sting-type operation" proved he was stealing, according to court documents. He remains a priest but has been stripped of his priestly "faculties," meaning he cannot say mass or wear a priest's vestments, according to an archdiocese spokeswoman.
He was taken into custody Friday after his sentencing, at which he chose not to speak.
Parishioner Dan McGuire, who attended the sentencing, said the "consensus" of a church group that investigated Sorvillo is that he stole closer to $500,000. "I'm glad it's over with," McGuire said. "He took the parishioners' money for all those years."

Retired Catholic priest Francis G. DeLuca pleaded guilty in Syracuse City Court this afternoon to charges he sexually molested a teenage boy over a period of four years.
Although the District Attorney's Office was seeking a sentence of probation and six months in jail, Judge Kate Rosenthal promised the 77-year-old DeLuca a sentence of straight probation with no jail time. Sentencing is set for Aug. 27.
DeLuca pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts each of third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child for incidents that occurred in 2002, 2004 and 2005 when the same victim was 13, 15 and 16.
DeLuca served as a priest in the Wilmington Diocese in Delaware for 35 years before he was dismissed from public ministry in 1993 after being accused of sexually abusing a minor in the 1960s.
