Dhaka, Feb 02 (bdnews24.com) – Thieves have stolen gold and cash from the city's Kadamtala Kali temple, police have said.

Sutrapur police chief Nazrul Islam confirmed the theft which took place on Tuesday night, but said the temple administration has not yet filed any complaint regarding the case.

The Hindu temple is located on Laxmibazaar Hrishikesh Das road.

"Usually some gold and cash in the donation box are kept in the temple," said Mahanagar Sarbojanin Puja Committee general secretary Babul Debnath.

But he said it was unclear exactly how much had been stolen from the temple.

"A group is trying to cause unrest by stealing from different temples," he said.

The incident is the twenty third theft from temples in Dhaka and its surrounding areas in the last two months.
