Around 16 people have been reported killed and 4 seriously injured in a naxal attack in Giridih district of Jharkhand.
Around 16 people have been reported killed and 4 seriously injured in a naxal attack in Giridih district of Jharkhand. Former CM Babulal Marandi's younger son -- Anoop Marandi -- has also been killed in the attack.

The incident occured during a cultural programme on Friday (Oct 27) night when around 30 naxals attacked and opened indiscriminate fire on the gathering.

Police are camping in the area to keep the situation under control as the chances of public agitation against the incident is high.

The situation in Jharkhand is deteriorating as the naxal menace in Jharkhand has grown considerably. Leaders like Babulal had received threat from naxals in the past. In the year 2006, an entire train was hijacked by naxals.

Meanwhile, former CM Babulal Marandi, who was on his way to the spot to assess the situation, spoke to TIMES Now and said that the entire state is gripped by the naxal menace and neither the centre nor the state has any policy on the issue.
