The US House of Representatives has passed a bipartisan resolution recognising the significance of the Indian festival of Diwali.

Perhaps the most widely celebrated festival of the Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, Diwali is marked by nearly two million people in the United States.

The festival on November 9, marks the values of kinship, knowledge and goodness, and signifies the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
