Jaya's security downgraded

Jaya's security has been downgraded by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security
With AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa crying foul over her decreased security, it's not just the Tamil Nadu government which is behind the move. TIMES NOW has access to government documents, that show that even the Central government has cut back on Jayalalithaa's security in recent months.

According to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, in 2005 and 2006, the UPA government had kept Jayalalithaa as a special protectee along with L K Advani. Jaya was allowed to take her vehicle right to the aircraft at all civil airports. She was given this special privilege in view of the threat perception to her life and her special medical condition.

But in June 2007, Jayalalithaa's special status was revoked and she lost the special privileges. She now has to travel to the aircraft like ordinary passengers.

Earlier this morning, the Tamil Nadu government had rubbished Jayalalitha's claims that the ruling DMK was trying to get her killed with Tamil Nadu police even tabling a report in the assembly justifying their decision to not enhance her security.

There is more support for Jayalalithaa from the BJP. The BJP has demanded full security for her. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Spokesperson, BJP, said, "Well the BJP strongly condemns the scaling down of the security of Shrimati Jayalalithaaji. She is under Z plus security and we need to note that as the chief minister she has taken a very tough stand whether it is the cause of LTTE rebels or terrorism which affected Tamil Nadu. For a leader of her stature to be treated in such a shabby manner on the question of security is a very serious issue."
