New Zealand Hindu Conference

The theme of the 1st New Zealand Hindu Conference is 'The contribution of Hindus to the National Life of New Zealand'. It will cover the economic, environmental, social and cultural aspects.

Hindus believe in the ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one large family). 80-85% of the Indian population are Hindus. In New Zealand, Hindus have come from many countries including Fiji, India, South Africa, United Kingdom, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and the Caribbean.

The conference will have invited and voluntary papers and an exhibition. Workshops will be conducted to discuss issues which are common to all Hindu organisations, and also to the wider community, such as health and social, women, youth and elderly.

Hindu Heritage Centre (HHC) is 8.5 acres of land and buildings (previously Te Wananga O Aotearoa campus) and is now run by Hindu Heritage Charitable Trust which is registered under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957. The mission of HHC are to deliver services of education, self development, cultural development, sports development, and care for the elderly, youth and children; and to bring all like-minded organisations and institutions in New Zealand together to promote universal human value and co-existence.
