மேற்கு வங்கம்: கர்ப்பிணி மனைவியை கொன்ற இமாமுக்கு தூக்கு தண்டனை

தன்னுடைய கர்ப்பிணி மனைவியை கொன்ற இஸ்லாமிய போதகர் அப்துல் மன்னனுக்கு தூக்கு தண்டனை விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த அப்துல் மன்னன் துங்கபரா மசூதியில் இமாமாக பணிபுரிகிறார்.

இவர் தன் கர்ப்பிணி மனைவியை ஒரு தனியான இடத்துக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்று வெட்ட வெளியில் அவருடன் உடலுறவு கொண்ட பின்னால், அவரது கழுத்தை அறுத்து கொலை செய்தார்.

BALURGHAT, Aug 2: An Imam was sentenced to death today for killing his pregnant wife. The additional district and session judge (fast track) of Buniadpur court Mr Sayad Narul Hussain today passed the capital punishment against Abdul Hannan, imam of Ziapara under Kushmondi police station of South Dinajpur district.
According to the additional public prosecutor Buniadpur Court Mr Sibotosh Chatterjee, the murder was committed on 13 October 2005. Abdul Hannan, the imam of Dungapara mosque, Joypara, married Maher Nigar Begum in 2005. Maher became pregnant within a month of their marriage. This allegedly turned the imam suspicious about his wife’s character. In 2005 Abdul Hannan became the imam of his village. On 13 October he took his wife from her father’s residence at Bhullakuri and after prayers and left for his village Ziapara. On way, he allegedly chose a secluded spot, copulated with her and then killed her slitting her throat with a sharp weapon. He went to the mosque for prayers thereafter. Villagers found the woman’s body two days later and informed the police. After interrogation, Abdul Mannan confessed before the locals that he had killed his wife following which, the police arrested him and registered a case.
Describing the incident as a rare one, the additional district and session judge of Buniadpur court (fast track) Mr Saiyad Nurul Hossain, sentenced Abdul Hannan to the death row today. However, the defence lawyers said that they are not happy with the court’s verdict and would appeal at the higher court. The superintendent of Balurghat correctional home Mr MM Guyen said that the jail authorities would follow the court’s direction and send the convicted imam to Behrampore Central Jail shortly.
