Top Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant arrested in J&K
Security forces have arrested a top commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen after an intense gun-battle in Kupwara district, J&K. They also nabbed an OGW of the same outfit with hawala money, who had recently brought it from Pakistan through Wagah border..

IN A major success against the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit, police arrested a confidant of United Jihad Council (UJC) chief, and HM chief Syed Salahuddin from Chingus area of Rajouri district. When he was on his way from Rajouri to Jammu with some ammunition and other things of the outfit.
In another incident, same police arrested an over ground worker (OGW) of the same outfit with hawala money, who had recently brought hawala money from Pakistan through Wagah border. According to reports, after the arrest of the HM confidant, the police achieved a major success. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajouri, Rajesh Yadav told that on Saturday (July 12) night police relieved specific information about the presence of top militant of Hizbul Mujahideen in the area.
Reports said after the information the police launched a search operation in the area. The hiding militant managed to give a slip to the security forces under the cover of darkness, forcing the security forces to lay nakas on all the routes linking Thanamandi with other stations of the district.
On Sunday (July 13) afternoon, Rajouri police succeeded in nabbing the militant, Abdul Rashid Bhat, son of Ahmed Gani Bhat of Doda at Chingus when he was leaving the district in a vehicle. From the vehicle, police recovered one AK 47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds of AK and a mobile phone. The arrested militant has been identified as 31-year-old Abdul Rashid, son of Abdul Gani Bhat, a resident of Doda.
The said militant was known as Mansoor ul Haq alias Mazam bhai in the entire HM outfit and his code was MS. He was enjoying second place in the hierarchy of the outfit for being close confidant of united jihad council (UJC) chief Syed Salahuddin. After his arrest, the police took him to a safe house for interrogation. During sustained questioning of the militant it came to fore that he ex filtrated to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in 1998 when he was studying in 10th class, through Muzaffarabad area and remained there till 2007.
During his period, he not only received training in handling sophisticated weapons but also supervised several training camps. Sources said that during his 10 year stay in Pakistan he was in-charge of three training camps. He also became a close confidant of Syed Salahuddin for being hardcore jihadi and the top hierarchy was always deputing him to the training camps across PoK to preach jihad against India to the recruits of militant outfits.
SSP Yadav said that when Hizbul Mujahideen outfit started receiving setback across Jammu and Kashmir in 2007, he was deputed to strengthen the outfit and lure innocent youth by UJC chief and said that he was sent to Dhaka from Karachi after preparing fake visa and passport before infiltrating into the Indian territory and then travelling to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) through train. He was the commander so the outfit did not take risk to send him across the Indian side and made his fake travel documents. When he reached Dhaka, a HM guide, Gulam Mohammed helped him cross the border into India from Bangladesh and he reached in Kolkata. Soon after his arrival in Jammu, he went to Pulwama and met Rajouri-Pulwama divisional commander of the outfit, Saqib, who tasked Mansoor-ul-Haq to take control of the outfit in Doda district. Police today arrested an over-ground worker (OGW) of the outfit namely Mushtaq Hussain, son of Khushi Mohd of Ladyote from Rajouri town. when he was on way to deliver the hawala money to the HM commander Aadil. His sustained interrogation led to the recovery of Rs one lakh hawala money, SSP Yadav said, adding the OGW had gone to Pakistan on valid visa through Wagah border about two months back.
In Pakistan, he stayed with his relative Himanyu and received Rs 1.30 lakh hawala money for HM outfit commanders operating in Jammu. About 10 days back he returned from Pakistan through Wagah border along with the hawala money. But, on the basis of specific information, police nabbed the OGW and recovered Rs one lakh hawala money. The remaining money was spent by the OGW during his stay in Rajouri.
