At least 90 Iraqis killed today

BAGHDAD (AP) - In Iraq, a suicide car bomber has struck a group of Sunni tribal chiefs in a market area near Fallujah. The men opposed al-Qaida. At least 18 people were killed and 15 wounded.
Police say the bomb exploded in a pickup truck next to where the elders were trying to solve a tribal dispute.
Elsewhere in volatile Anbar province, Iraqi security officials say a suicide car bomber struck a police checkpoint in Ramadi, killing six officers and wounding three others.
In all, at least 90 Iraqis were killed or found dead today. They include 61 bullet-riddled bodies -- the apparent victims of so-called sectarian death squads.
Also, a US soldier was killed by small-arms fire in southern Baghdad.
Guards foiled a suicide attack in eastern Baghdad, killing a black-clad female bomber as she approached a group of police recruits.
