IMPHAL, Aug 13: A team of Imphal east commandos arrested a PULF cadre named Md Atomba alias Abdul Majid, 24, son of Abdul Samad of Kshetri Bengul Awang Leikai from Top Khongnang today morning.

He disclosed that he was involved in extortion from the general public and government officials and provided shelter to PULF cadres along with being engaged in transportation of arms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal west district police commandos arrested three KCP (Noyon) activists from Ningombam Road near Langthabal Phuramakhong Ching today at 3.30 am.

The arrested cadres were identified as Thokchom Sharatchandra Singh alias Boy, 28, son of Th Ibotombi Singh of Bashikhong Loungambi, Md Jama Khan alias Boi, 23, son of late Md Sanou of Lilong and Yumnam Rakesh Singh, 24, son of late Y Paka Singh of Lilong Chajing bazar.

They disclosed during interrogation that they were assigned to extort money from the public of Kodompokpi and Ningombam village and hijacked vehicles coming along the Mayai Lambi road. A toy gun was seized from Th Sharatchandra.

The Thoubal district police commandos also arrested a woman sympathiser of the KYKL named Mayanglambam (O) Ranjita, 33, wife of M Deben Singh of Kakching Makha Leikai during frisking and checking at Kakching Makha Leikai today at around 6 am.

The Thoubal commandos further arrested a harbourer of the PREPAK named Ningombam Manglemjao Singh alias Manao, 19, son of Ningombam Bino Singh of Hiyanglam Warakhong Leikai on August 11 at 4.20 pm during frisking and checking at Hiyanglam area.
