18 killed in bomb blasts, militant attack in Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug. 4 (PTI): Eighteen people, including four Pakistan army soldiers, were killed and dozens injured in separate incidents of a bomb blast and a militant attack in Pakistan's troubled tribal areas today.
Four persons were killed and several injured when a car, laden with heavy explosives, went off at a crowded bus terminus at Parachinar in the tribal belt this morning.
In another incident, four Pakistan army soldiers and ten pro-Taliban militants were killed in an early morning attack by the militants on Dossali military check-post near Miranshah, the headquarters of the North Waziristan tribal agency.
"Militants launched a massive attack on the Dosali checkpost near Miranshah and fired over 50 rockets and attacked the checkpost with small arms which was repulsed by the troops," Pakistan's Defence spokesman Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad told reporters.
Four soldiers and 10 militants were killed in fighting, while the same number of them were injured, he said, adding the militants manged to take most of the bodies of their associates killed in the attack.
Today's incidents were a part of the series of attacks Pakistan security forces were experiencing in tribal areas since the July 11 military raid on Lal Masjid in Islamabad to flush out militants holed up in it.
Over 200 people, including security personnel were killed in a spate of suicide as well as bomb attacks since then. 18 killed in bomb blasts, militant attack in Pakistan
