Bangalore, June 5: The probe into the May 13 serial blasts in Jaipur, that killed 60 people and injured 200, has led to the detention of an Infosys employee in Jaipur for alleged links to the Students Islamic Movement of India.
Rasheed Hussein, 31, an employee of the BPO unit of the IT major, was picked up by the Jaipur police as part of the investigations into the Jaipur blasts, sources said in Bangalore.

Hussein who has been employed with the company for around three years was earlier with the Bangalore unit before being transferred to Jaipur two years ago. He studied in Patna before moving to Bangalore, police sources said.

The sources here said Rasheed Hussein’s activities had been under surveillance in Bangalore after reports emerged that he escorted S A R Geelani to a meeting held in the Somanahalli area of the city some time ago. Rasheed was also a friend of Yahya Kammukutty, a young IT professional arrested in connection with an investigation into the banned SIMI’s activities in Karnataka, police sources said.

Rasheed’s employers have been informed of his detention but no reason has been provided yet. “During his employment in Bangalore, the police had been informed about the nature of Rasheed’s activities that even overlapped into his work space,” police sources said. “It is still very early stages in the probe and investigations still need to be carried out,” the sources said.
