லாகூர் கண்ணன் கோவிலில் ஹோலி


பாகிஸ்தானிலுள்ள லாகூர் கண்ணன் கோவிலில் ஹோலி கொண்டாட்டத்தில் இந்துக்கள், கிரிஸ்துவர்கள், முஸ்லீம்கள் சீக்கியர்கள் அனைவரும் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

Holi celebrated amid colours

LAHORE: Amid beat of drums, dances, colours and dazzling lights, the Hindu festival Holi was celebrated at the Krishna Temple on Saturday.

Holi is an annual Hindu spring festival. It takes place over two days in the later part of February or early March. As per the Hindu calendar, it falls on the full moon. It is also called the Festival of Colours.

Hindus, Christians, Muslims and Sikhs jointly celebrated the event. Boys and girls in colourful dresses splashed colours on each other and presented dances and songs. The temple was completely packed with the Holi enthusiasts.

Apart from music and dances there was also a pray time in which the Hindus prayed to their lord Krishna Ram. The idols of Radha and Hanuman were wearing garlands. Lamps were also lit. In the end prasad was distributed among the devotees.

Sonia Gill, a student, said, “on the day of Holi I pray for my country to prosper.”

On Holi, she said, she prayed for the betterment of the country, adding that being citizens of Pakistan, every person regardless of cast, creed, and colour should help others improve their life standards.

Rama Chand, a girl, said, “Holi gives us the message to share the moments of happiness and sorrows with others.”

Sunil Kumar, a Holi enthusiast, said, “We should participate in others’ festivals as well. We need to promote peace, harmony love, honesty and justice which are the basic traits of every religion.”

Pakistan Anglo Asian Friendship Society secretary Dr Manohar Chand, said, “Holi brings a message of joy and happiness.” The lord Krishna played the flute of love, joy and happiness, he said, it was mandatory for us to follow in his footsteps. “It is need of the hour that every citizen of Pakistan should celebrate not only Holi, but other events as well,” he said.
