India: Drunken Christian college principal tries to rape student

PALASA: Just a day after the shocking acid attack on a girl student by a lecturer at Palasa, a government degree college principal today allegedly tried to outrage the modesty of his student at Baruwa in the district. The accused principal Wilson Raj escaped as students attacked him on the college premises.

The principal reportedly came to the college in an inebriated condition this morning. He called a BA second year student to his chamber while she was passing by.When the girl went in, Wilson Raj allegedly made indecent comments and gestures and tried to outrage her modesty. The girl raised an alarm and ran out of the room.

Soon after, the students went to the principal’s chamber and thrashed him. Fearing that they would kill him, a few faculty members are learnt to have intervened and pacified the mob. During this melee, the principal made good his escape. No complaint has been lodged with the police so far.

The college staff and students later complained to mediapersons that Wilson Raj, who joined the college as principal in July, came to the college drunk everyday.

"Though we knew about his indecent behaviour, we could not complain against him for fear of expulsion. Even faculty members kept their mouth shut as they feared him," students told the reporters
