கிறிஸ்துவ சர்ச்சுகளை கிறிஸ்துவர்களே மேற்பார்வை பார்த்துக்கொள்கின்றனர். ஆனால் இந்துக்கள் சீக்கியர்களது கோவில்களளயும் சொத்துக்களளயும் நிலங்க்ளையும் அரசாங்கத்தின் வக்பு போர்டே நிர்வகிக்கிறது. இந்துக்களது கோவில்களையும் சீக்கியர்களது கோவில்களளயும் இந்துக்களும் சீக்கியர்களுமே நிர்வகிக்க அனுமதிக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று கோரிக்கைகள் முன் வைக்கப்பட்டன.


100 APMA district coordination committee members take oath

LAHORE: More than 100 members of the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) district coordination committee Lahore took oath in a ceremony held at a local hotel on Sunday.

Speakers at the ceremony included APMA Chairman Shahbaz Bhatti, Group Commander (r) Cecil Chaudhry, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Najmi Saleemi, MPA Pervaiz Rafi and APMA Secretary General Michael Javeed.

Bhatti said the country should get rid of terrorism, extremism and discriminatory laws against minorities. He said APMA did not agree with the philosophy and policy of the Mutahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) because its leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman had denied minorities’ basic rights.

Bhatti demanded that the government address minorities’ problems and allocate 5 percent seats in the Senate to minorities and increase the 10 percent quota in the National Assembly. He said Hindus and Sikhs, and not the Auqaf Department, should control their religious places. There should be Christian judges in the courts, he said, and national heroes from minorities should also be mentioned in the national curricula. Roads and places should be named after them, he said. He said the government should repeal discriminatory laws, including the blasphemy law.

Cecil Chaudhry said the APMA platform had given a voice to minorities. He said religion and state should be separated and that changes should be made to the constitution to effectively eradicate terrorism and extremism. APMA, he said, had played a role in the government’s decision of joint electorate despite reserved seats for minorities. abdul manan
