Why Chinese are being attacked in Pakistan?
From our ANI Correspondent
London, July 23: The recent trend of Islamic radicals in Pakistan attacking Chinese nationals has been attributed to the treatment given by China to Chinese Muslim militants, who have been extradited from Pakistan.
According to a British daily The Sunday Times, the Chinese Muslims extradited by Pakistan are being swiftly executed by firing squads after forced confessions and summary trials.
China has persuaded Pakistan and Kazakhstan to hand over captured militants for interrogation, secret trials and execution, a policy that may have fuelled the fundamentalist rage now gripping Pakistan, The News quoted a report that appeared in the Sunday Times.
The story of a Chinese student Ismail Semed, who was captured by Pakistani intelligence agencies from a Rawalpindi college and was later handed over to China where he was shot in his heart after two judges sentenced him to death, has received wide attention in British media.
Semed, 37 and father of two small kids, was extradited to Beijing after he spent three years in prison, but was killed in a 10-minute execution after a secret trial.
"I did my best to prove that I was innocent. I am so sorry that I leave you with two children. Please take care of them and let them have good education," the daily quoted Semed, as saying to his wife.
China claims that Al-Qaeda has trained more thans 1,000 members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, classified as a terrorist group by America and the United Nations. The group took its name from the short-lived Republic of East Turkestan that was declared in Xinjiang after the Second World War, and then crushed by the communist revolution of 1949.
