ஹிலா என்ற நகரத்தில் எல்லோரும் கிளம்பி வரும் காலை 9 மணி அளவில் நடந்த இந்த தாக்குதலில் ஏராளமான பொதுமக்கள் ஷியாக்கள் என்ற காரணத்தாலேயே கொல்லப்பட்டனர்.

BAGHDAD: A suicide car bomber struck the center of a major Shiite city in southern Iraq on Tuesday, killing at least 22 people and wounding dozens, police and hospital officials said.

The explosion occurred at 9 a.m. as the streets were packed with shoppers and people on their way to work in a commercial district in Hillah, according to provincial police.

Most of the 22 killed and 66 wounded in the blast, said Ayad Abdul-Zahra of the general hospital in Hillah.

Hillah, about 95 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad, has been the site of some of the deadliest bombings, including a double suicide attack on March 6 that killed 120 people
