Baghdad minibus blast kills five
This one-year-old girl was injured in the minibus blast
An explosion from either a bomb or a mortar has killed five people and injured at least 11 others on a minibus in Baghdad, Iraqi officials say.
The device went off in Baladiyat, a mainly Shia Muslim area in the east of the Iraqi capital.
Reports also emerged of an overnight US air strike killing six people near Hussainiya, north of the city.
The US military said Iraqi police had identified the dead as militants but local reports say many civilians died.
And a US soldier injured in a roadside bomb blast in Diyala Province has died, bringing the military death toll to at least 48 for July.
Bodies of those killed in the air strike were removed by lorry
In Baladiyat, which is close to the giant Shia slum of Sadr City, one police account spoke of a mortar landing close to the minibus.
But other medical and security sources said it appeared to have been a bomb inside the vehicle.
The injured were being treated at a Sadr City hospital.
According to the US military, an air strike was called up in Hussainiya after gunmen in the mainly Shia locality opened fire on its soldiers from a house.
Reports of five dead militants and six wounded were contradicted by Iraqi police and hospital officials quoted by the Associated Press news agency.
They said 18 civilians had been killed and 21 wounded in the bombing at 0200 (2200 Friday) on Saturday.
