மெக்கா: சிறையில் இருந்த பெண்களுக்கு மறுவாழ்வு

பேமிலி ரிகன்ஸிலேஷன் கமிட்டி என்ற சேவை அமைப்பு மெக்கா பகுதியில் தவறான நடத்தைக்காக (விபச்சாரம்) சிறையில் தங்க நேரிட்ட பெண்களுக்கு மறு திருமணம் செய்து வைத்திருக்கிறது.

இந்த பெண்கள் இப்படிப்பட்ட வழிக்கு சென்றதன் ஒரு காரணம், அந்த பெண்களுக்கு பெற்றோர் திருமணம் செய்து வைக்க மறுத்தது. ஏனெனில், இந்த பெண்கள் திருமணம் செய்து சென்றுவிட்டால், அவர்களது வருமானம் தங்களுக்கு கிட்டாது என்று பெற்றோர் நினைத்ததுதான்.

இன்னொரு காரணம், அரபு முஸ்லீம் சமுதாயத்தில் வெளி ஜாதியில் திருமணம் செய்வது தடுக்கப்பட்ட ஒன்று. அதனால், அந்த ஜாதிகளுக்குள்ளேயே ஆட்கள் கிட்டாததாலும் இவர்கள் திருமண உறவு இல்லாமல் தீய வழிக்கு சென்றிருக்கிறார்கள் என்று இந்த சேவை அமைப்பு கூறுகிறது.

இது போன்ற பெற்றோர் திருந்தவும், அரபு மக்கள் தங்கள் ஜாதிவெறியை விட்டு விட்டு பெண்களுக்கு ஓரளவாவது சுதந்திரம் தரவும் விரும்புவோம்.

Makkah Charity Finds Husbands for 40 Women Housed in Shelter

MAKKAH, 22 February 2007 — The Family Reconciliation Committee of the Makkah region recently arranged marriages for 40 women who were housed at the Social Protection Shelter in Makkah. The women were mainly ex-convicts who had completed their jail terms for immorality.

The women were housed at the shelter since they had been rejected by relatives even after they had repented and reformed. The committee hopes that that the women will now be able to start afresh and have a new family and home.

Dr. Nasser Al-Zahrani, executive chairman of the committee, told Arab News that Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed, who is the chairman of the Higher Committee for Family Reconciliation, has been concerned about the women housed at the shelter.

“Some of these young brides are women who have completed their sentence in various parts of the Kingdom. The committee has been striving to find suitable grooms for women living in shelter homes ever since it was established five years ago,” said Dr. Al-Zahrani.

The chairman attributed the plight of these women to irresponsible behavior of some men who fail to fulfill their duties toward their wives, sisters and daughters. The ensuing suppression and disappointment drive young women to commit crimes and then end up in shelters, he said.

Al-Zahrani noted with pain that there were fathers who deny permission to their employed daughters to marry because once the daughters are married they lose their claim to their daughters’ income.

“Women past 40 are involved in sins mostly because their parents deny them permission to marry. Sometimes the taboo of marrying outside the tribe forces women to remain spinsters,” he said.

“Another situation that tempts women to sin is the oppression of fathers who marry several women and are not fair to all wives. Their mothers are divorced for silly reasons and the daughters of such relationships become victims. The daughters of divorced parents are denied both the tenderness of their mothers and care of their fathers,” he added.

He pointed out that the wrong kind of education does not give women the ability to distinguish between the legitimate and illegitimate amusement and entertainment.

He lamented the absence of good religious teachers who can identify contemporary problems and teach people how to solve them in a reasonable manner. He believes that undignified and emotionally charged scenes on satellite TV play a considerable role in corrupting young minds.
