PESHAWAR - Amidst continuous violence and firing in the restive Swat Valley, Taliban militants destroyed Sangota Public School and Excelsior College for Boys in Sangota, besides kidnapping its staff along with two personnel of the security forces.

As per details, after receiving threats from the militants the teaching staff had already vacated the premises of Snagota Public School and Excelsior College. However the sweeper Jan Masih and Manager Sabir were present in the college.

Taliban first harassed the two staff members along with two personnel of the security forces Amir Mohammad and Gohar Ali and then planted explosive material inside the building, which blew up with a big bang.

After demolishing the school and college Taliban kidnapped the four persons and shifted them to an unknown location. Claiming the responsibility by spokesman of Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat Chapter Muslim Khan said that besides these four persons two other personnel of the security forces were also in their custody.

The security forces also targeted the suspected hideouts of the militants in Totano Banda, Tegak and Kala Kalay of Tehsil Kabal with heavy weaponry and mortar shells. A woman was killed when a mortar hit her house in Kala Kalay. A child was injured when the security forces mistakenly fired on him.

Meanwhile, due to the untargeted firing of the security forces the dwellers of the Khawazakhaila, Wakil Abad, Alam Ganj and Wali Abad area staged a protest rally against the security forces and demanded a pull-out of the troops from the restive Swat area. The protestors blocked the Main GT Road for all kinds of traffic.

Meanwhile, Taliban Tuesday released five more police recruits who were kidnapped in Darra Adamkhel area one month ago when they were on their way to Police Training College Hangu from Peshawar.

Earlier, 26 police recruits and seven personnel of Khasadar Forces were kidnapped by the Taliban in Darra Adamkhel area. A committee of Ulema and DIG Kohat contacted Taliban leadership and appealed to them for the early release of the kidnapped police recruits. After that Taliban handed over five of them to the committee.

Up till now Taliban militants have so far released 10 recruits while the remaining persons are still in their captivity.

Monitoring Desk adds: The militants have started leaving Kurram Agency and have vacated their centres in Alikhel tribe, reported a private TV channel on Tuesday.
