இந்த கொடூர மன(த)த்திலிருந்து எப்போது விடுதலை பெறுவது என்று உண்மையான மனிதர்கள் ஏங்குகிறார்கள்.

The death toll in the suicide bomb attack on a Shia Muslim gathering in Pakistan-administered Kashmir has risen to eight, officials say.
Six people, including three policemen, were killed on the spot while two more died in hospital, police said.
The attack injured more than 80 people. Ten of them are in a serious condition.
The blast in Muzaffarabad came as Shia Muslims commemorated the festival of Ashura that mourns the 7th-Century death of Imam Hussein.
Atif Bashir, who runs a medical store close to the prayer hall where the attack took place, told BBC Urdu's Zulfiqar Ali that the blast took place when the mourning procession had entered the hall.
"Soon afterwards, the lights went out, and people were crying for help in the dark."
Correspondents say that Muzaffarabad has long been home to camps of Sunni militant groups fighting the Indian army in Indian-administered Kashmir.
But this is the first time an attack has been launched against civilians in the area.
Pakistan's security forces have been on high alert fearing sectarian clashes between Shia and Sunni Muslims.

Extremist Muslims who force vulnerable teenage girls to convert to Islam are being targeted by police, Met chief Sir Ian Blair has revealed.
Police are working with universities to clamp down on "aggressive conversions" during which girls are beaten up and forced to abandon university courses.
The Hindu Forum of Britain claims hundreds of mostly Sikh and Hindu girls have been intimidated by Muslim men who take them out on dates before terrorising them until they convert.
Sir Ian spoke about the problem at a conference organised by the forum.
A Met spokesman said: "Neighbourhood officers work with university authorities in London and we would encourage anyone targeted in this way to seek help and support and where necessary use third party reporting facilities if they do not want to contact police directly."
Ramesh Kallidai, of the Hindu Forum of Britain, said: "Some girls are petrified because they are constantly being phoned up, having their door knocked.
"One girl was beaten up on the street and others have been forced to leave university."
• Met police chiefs are to review a controversial stop-and-search power used in the fight against terrorism. Assistant commissioner Andy Hayman, the overall head of Britain's anti-terrorist operations, said he had concerns about the number of stops carried out in London using Section 44 legislation.

JACOBABAD – A 20-year-old girl was auctioned at village Badani Bhutto of Taluka Kashmore in consideration of Rs2,70,000 on Saturday.
Azizan, daughter of late Allah Bux Bhutto, was divorced on the allegation of Karo-kari some time back. She is stated to be mother of two children and was residing with her brother who held the open auction for her ‘sale’ at village Badani Bhutto.
A large number of villagers showed interest in the auction that started with Rs50,000 and ended at Rs270,000. Bilawal Bhutto, 50, of the same village purchased her for the said amount. Initially he paid Rs210,000 for the girl.
Maulana Azizullah Bhutto performed their nikah later.
It is irony of the situation that no one condemned the inhuman act. The groom will take the bride to his house after paying the rest of the amount. The auction money was distributed equally among all the brothers of the girl.

Unrestrained vandalism of churches continues in the state of Karnataka. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, unidentified miscreants attacked a church in Humnabad taluk in Bidar district.
The miscreants entered into the church by breaking the main door and damaged window panes and furniture, police said.
“It looks like a deliberate act of desecration as nothing has been stolen,” Vasanthkumar, the pastor of the church, told media.
He said the miscreants had damaged the statue of Jesus Christ and the cross atop the church.
Police on Wednesday visited the spot and have registered a complaint. The superintendent of police assured Christians that they would arrest the culprits without delay.
The newly built church, according to a source, is still to be inaugurated.
The incident comes a month after St Anthony's Church at Kavailbyrasandra in Bangalore was attacked. Prior to this, on Sept. 8, miscreants broke open into St. Francis De Sales Church near Hebbagodi and damaged the windows and statues.
In a related incident, anti-social elements on Nov. 6 disrupted a house church service in Shimoga, accusing a physically challenged Pastor Kannan Ramesh of forcible conversion.
According to the Evangelical Fellowship of India, Hindutva hardliners barged into the Faith Christ house church where three families gathered for their weekly service and verbally abused the pastor on alleged conversion.
The extremists dragged Pastor Ramesh and two church members identified only as Kumar and Thrimurthi to Old Town police station and warned them against using the house as a church.
The Global Council of Indian Christians has recorded 56 cases of violence against Christians in Karnataka in 2009.

BIDAR: The Bidar district police Thursday claimed to have solved the case of an attack on a church in Humnabad town in Bidar district on November 17 with the arrest of a former pastor of the church and three hired goons who allegedly attacked the church.
Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar in a press statement said here that the main accused, Vasant, who was the pastor of the Humnabad church till June this year before his transfer to a church at Basantpur in Chincholi taluk in Gulbarga district had conspired to damage the church with the hope that the church authorities would cancel his transfer and keep him in Humnabad.
Mr. Kumar said the investigation revealed that the accused had taken the help of B. Sunil, S. Mallikarjun Swamy and S. Manjunath, all belonging to Humnabad town, to damage the church with a promise of paying them Rs. 10,000. According to Mr. Kumar, the main accused had already paid Rs. 1,000 as advance to the trio for carrying out the attack.
The attack, which had embarrassed the district administration and the police, had caused quite a stir among the Christians who wanted the Government to take immediate action against those responsible for the attack. Furniture, electrical fittings in the main prayer hall and the cross on the dome of the church were damaged. The Opposition parties such as the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) had also joined the Christians in demanding action against those responsible for the attack.
Mr. Kumar said that a special team of police officers, headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Thyagarajan and Circle Inspectors M.H. Satish, working in Humnabad police station and James Menenzis working in Raichur, was formed to solve the case. The team questioned several persons and finally the pastor. The accused revealed the names of the three people he had hired to attack the church.

A circular sent to all businesses in the country two months ago from the undersecretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry made it a mandatory requirement for every Saudi company owned by a woman to appoint a male director-general. Aliya Banaja, who owns 2 The Point, has been at the forefront of a campaign to get Hossan Aqeel's dictate overturned, according to UAE daily Gulf News. Banaja has now said she will close her company, which is the first Saudi IT firm to be run and staffed exclusively by women, in protest and has urged other businesswomen to follow suit. In an interview with Al Watan Arabic daily printed today she said her decision would take effect immediately. "It is not possible for businesswomen to carry out their business activities together with a male commercial agent. We have spoken a lot about this difficult problem. For five years, we have been waiting for the decision taken by the Council of Ministers revoking the requirement to be implemented. But nothing has happened," she said. Banaja added that she had told other leading business women of her decision, but it was not reported how many other firms could be affected. However, figures collated by the Khadeeja Bint Khowailed Centre, which is part of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, estimates that there are around 20,000 companies run by women. Mohamed Abukar Ibrahim, a 48-year-old, was buried in a hole up to his chest and pelted with rocks until he died.
The group responsible, Hizbul Islam, also shot dead a man they claimed was a murderer.

But the verdict was so shocking that it prompted a gun battle between rivals within the group that left three militants dead, witnesses said.
The executions took place yesterday in Afgoye, some 20 miles south-west of the capital of Mogadishu.
Hizbul Islam fighters ordered hundreds of residents to a field, where a rebel judge announced that the two men had confessed to murder and adultery.

A woman who had confessed to fornication had been sentenced to 100 lashes, he added.
'This is their day of justice,' the judge, Osman Siidow Hasan, told the crowd. 'We investigated and they confessed.'
But when some Hizbul Islam fighters wanted to delay the executions, a bloody gun battle broke out between the two factions, shocked residents said.

The second condemned man is shot dead at point blank range by a relative of the man he was convicted of murdering
'Three Hizbul Islam fighters died and five others were injured after they fought each other," Halima Osman, an Afgoye shopkeeper, told Reuters in Mogadishu by telephone.
'Some wanted to delay the execution while the others insisted. They exchanged fire. The group that was against the execution was overpowered and chased away,' she said.
Once the gun battle was over, the militants coldly carried out the verdicts.
A relative of the murder victim shot the first as he lay on the floor.
'I could not watch,' local man Ali Gabow told Reuters. 'The lady who had been with the second man was only given 100 lashes because she said she had never married.'
The executions were the first time that Hizbul Islam guerillas had dealt out the type of punishments usually associated with the more hardline al Shabaab rebel group in Somalia.
The U.S. claims that al Shabaab is al Qaeda's proxy in the failed Horn of Africa state. That rival Islamic groups are beginning to align their practices with al Shabaab is a chilling twist in the already frightening militancy that is gripping the country.
President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed's Western-backed government controls just a few strategic sites in Mogadishu.
Western security experts say the country has become a safe haven for militants, including foreign jihadists, who are using it to plot attacks across the impoverished region and beyond.
There are some fears that Somalia could become the new pre-9/11 Afghanistan.
Al Shabaab, and to a lesser extent Hizbul Islam, are fighting the government to impose their harsh interpretation of Islamic Sharia law across the drought-ravaged country.
Al Shabaab clerics have banned movies, dancing at weddings and playing or watching soccer in the areas under their control, as well as carrying out executions and amputations.
Fighting has killed 19,000 Somali civilians since the start of 2007 and driven another 1.5 million from their homes, triggering one of the world's most acute humanitarian disasters.
The chaos has also spilled offshore, where Somali pirate gangs have made tens of millions of dollars in ransoms targeting commercial shipping in the Indian Ocean and busy Gulf of Aden.

கேரள மக்கள் ஜனநாயக கட்சி தலைவர் மதானி கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். இதை கண்டித்து கொச்சி களம் பச்சேரியில் தமிழக பஸ் தீ வைத்து எரிக்கப்பட்டது. இது தொடர்பாக கேரள போலீசார் வழக்கு பதிவு செய்து விசாரணை நடத்தி வந்தனர்.
பல ஆண்டுகளாக நடந்த விசாரணைக்கு பிறகு கடந்த வாரம் கண்ணூரை சேர்ந்த நவாஸ்(வயது28) என்பவரை போலீசார் கைது செய்தனர். இவரை உதவி கமிஷனர் வர்க்கீஸ் தலைமையிலான தனிப்படையினர் விசாரணை நடத்தினர். இதில் நவாசுக்கு சர்வதேச தீவிரவாத அமைப்பு களுடன் நெருங்கிய தொடர்பு இருப்பது தெரிய வந்தது. மேலும் கேரளாவில் நடந்த பல்வேறு நாச வேலைகளுக்கு இவர் லட்சக்கணக்கில் பண உதவி செய்து இருப்பதும் கண்டு பிடிக்கப்பட்டது.
இதையடுத்து போலீசார் நவாசை ரகசிய இடத்துக்கு கொண்டு சென்று துருவி துருவி விசாரணை நடத்தினர். இதில் நவாசுக்கு சர்வதேச தீவிரவாத அமைப்பான அல்கொய்தாவுடன் தொடர்பு இருப்பதை போலீசார் கண்டு பிடித்தனர்.
கோழிக்கோட்டில் கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு நடந்த குண்டு வெடிப்பு சம்பவத்திற்காக நவாஸ் ரூ.41 லட்சம் பணத்தை காசிம் என்பவருக்கு கொடுத்து உள்ளார்.
இளைஞர்களை மூளை சலவை செய்து தீவிரவாத அமைப்புகளில் சேர்க்க நசீர் என்பவருக்கு ரூ.50 லட்சம் கொடுத்துள்ளார்.
இப்பணத்தை சவுதிஅரேபியா, துபாய் மற்றும் அபுதாபி, ஆகிய நாடுகளுக்கு சென்று திரட்டி உள்ளார். இதற்கு அல் கொய்தா அமைப்பு உதவி செய்துள்ளது. இப்பணத்தின் மூலம் கேரளாவில் பல்வேறு இடங்களில் பயங்கரவாத செயல்களை நடத்த இக்கும்பல் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.
இவை அனைத்தும் போலீ சார் விசாரணையில் தெரிய வந்துள்ளது.
இதையடுத்து நவாசை கோர்ட்டில் ஆஜர் படுத்தி போலீசார் மீண்டும் அவரை காவலில் எடுத்து இது தொடர்பாக விசாரணை நடத்த திட்டமிட்டுள்ளனர்.

7. கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே அவர்கள் மீதியானியருடன் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, புருஷர்கள் யாவரையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.
And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
8. அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோட்டதுமன்றி, மீதியானியரின் ஐந்து ராஜாக்களாகிய ஏவி, ரேக்கேம், சூர், ஊர், ரேபா என்பவர்களையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள். பேயோரின் குமாரனாகிய பிலேயாமையும் பட்டயத்தினாலே கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.
And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
9. அன்றியும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மீதியானியரின் ஸ்திரீகளையும் குழந்தைகளையும் சிறைபிடித்து, அவர்களுடைய மிருகஜீவன்களாகிய ஆடுமாடுகள் யாவையும், மற்ற ஆஸ்திகள் யாவையும் கொள்ளையிட்டு,
And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
11. தாங்கள் கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருளையும் தாங்கள் பிடித்த நரஜீவன் மிருகஜீவன் அனைத்தையும் சேர்த்து,
And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.
12. சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்ட மனிதரையும், மிருகங்களையும், கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருள்களையும் எரிகோவின் அருகேயுள்ள யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையில் மோவாபின் சமனான வெளிகளிலுள்ள பாளயத்திலிருந்த மோசேயினிடத்துக்கும், ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரினிடத்துக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையாரிடத்துக்கும் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.
13. மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் சபையின் பிரபுக்கள் எல்லாரும் அவர்களைச் சந்திக்கப் பாளயத்திற்கு வெளியே புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.
And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.
14. அப்பொழுது மோசே யுத்தத்திலிருந்து வந்த ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரும், நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவருமாகிய சேனாபதிகள்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு,
And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.
15. அவர்களை நோக்கி: ஸ்திரீகள் எல்லாரையும் உயிரோடே விட்டுவிட்டீர்களா?
And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?
16. பேயோரின் சங்கதியிலே பிலேயாமின் ஆலோசனையினால் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்த் துரோகம்பண்ணக் காரணமாயிருந்தவர்கள் இவர்கள்தானே; அதினால் கர்த்தரின் சபையிலே வாதையும் நேரிட்டதே.
Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
17. ஆகையால் குழந்தைகளில் எல்லா ஆண்பிள்ளைகளையும், புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறிந்த எல்லா ஸ்திரீகளையும் கொன்றுபோடுங்கள்.
Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18. ஸ்திரீகளில் புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறியாத எல்லாப் பெண்பிள்ளைகளையும் உங்களுக்காக உயிரோடே வையுங்கள்.But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

80க்கும் மேற்பட்டவர்கள் ஏண்டா மசூதிக்குப் போனோம் என்று நொந்து நூடுல்ஸாகி ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் கிடக்கிறார்கள்.
இவர்களின் சொந்தக்காரர்கள் ஏண்டா முஸ்லீமாக இருக்கிறோம் என்று நொந்துகொண்டிருப்பதாகவும் தெரிகிறது.

A young Pakistani boy was raped and killed in the bathroom of a mosque in Dubai on Friday. The man who allegedly raped and murdered the six-year-old boy has been arrested. Dubai Police said they received information that a Pakistani child was found dead in the bathroom of a mosque located in Al Qusais on Friday.
When the police reached the mosque, a man told them that he had come to the mosque for Zuhr prayers and that when he went to the bathroom to prepare for it, he saw traces of blood on the floor after which he saw the child behind the door. The boy’s pants had been removed.
The police, upon entering the bathroom, noticed that the child had been raped. They took the body to the General Department of Forensic Medicine and launched an investigation. Later, a Bahraini national was arrested on the suspicion of committing the crime.
He confessed to the crime during interrogation. He said he consumed alcohol late into the night on Thursday and went to the mosque to perform Eid prayers on Friday and returned home. He continued drinking alcohol and later went out to visit his friend to celebrate the festival.

A young Pakistani boy was raped and killed in the bathroom of a mosque in Dubai on Friday. The man who allegedly raped and murdered the six-year-old boy has been arrested. Dubai Police said they received information that a Pakistani child was found dead in the bathroom of a mosque located in Al Qusais on Friday.

Joint operation begins against Kuki militants
SILCHAR, Nov 17: Sonai Police arrested 75-year-old village headman Seikhulian Singsong suspecting that he had links with Kuki militants who had allegedly attacked the 15th Indian Reserve Police (IRP) battalion outpost at Checkerchum recently. Police sources indicated that Kuki militants in collusion with some local residents of adjacent Kuki villages had attacked the Checkerchum outpost.
The militants sneaked into Cachar and attacked the 15th IRP battalion outpost and looted 26 sophisticated firearms and a huge quantity of ammunition from the jawans. Singsong was produced in Silchar court today and was later sent to police custody for three days.
A State police official said cadres of new Kuki militant organizations of Manipur have undergone training in Myanmar and Bangladesh. Militants who attacked the Checkerchum outpost had left some packets of food items bearing Burmese words on their labels, the police official said.
On the other hand, a new tension is brewing in the Bhuban Hills where Kuki and Hmar militants of the Christian community are planning to flush out Hindu Reang tribals living there. The militants have been continuously forcing the Hindu tribals to convert to Christianity, sources said. The Viswa Hindu Parishad had also alerted the district administration about it.
Local residents said one Lulun Kuki, who used to teach in a missionary school at Checkerchum, led the militants who attacked the Checkerchum outpost. Meanwhile, police, CRPF and the Army have launched a joint operation towards Mastul Hill where these militants are reportedly hiding with the arms they had looted from the outpost at Checkerchum.
A 30-member quick action force has already been sent to Checkerchum. The team will continue its operation throughout the area. Police sources said that the militants might sell the looted arms to Manipuri militant outfits.

Baroness Sayeeda Warsi attacked during Bury Park visit
Conservative peer Baroness Sayeeda Warsi has been pelted with eggs by Islamic extremists during a visit to Luton.
The peer, shadow minister for community cohesion and social action, was beginning a walkabout with local Conservative party members and Luton South parliamentary candidate Nigel Huddleston when she came under attack.
Eggs were thrown at the party, with one hitting Baroness Warsi on the side of the head, and the group hurled insults at her.
Baroness Warsi said: "They started shouting and screaming. Our initial reaction was to move away but then I said to them, 'Let's have a debate.'
"But they couldn't articulate what they wanted to say, they just wanted to be aggressive. I told them there was nothing in their conduct that was in accordance with the faith of Islam and that obviously touched a raw nerve with them."
The men are believed to be from the same group that protested during the Poachers' homecoming parade in March this year.
One of them was Saiful Islam, a member of the controversial Islamist group Al Muhajiroun, which wants Sharia law to be implemented in Britain.
He said: "Baroness Warsi purports to be a Muslim but really she's just pushing a government agenda. She should be received with condemnation. She is clearly in opposition to Sharia."
There were further ugly scenes when the Baroness, protected by a police escort, was confronted a second time as she returned to the Beech Hill Conservative Club in Leagrave Road for a reception in her honour.

The murders in the southern province of Maguindanao on Monday are thought to have beeny related to next year's national elections, when posts from village chiefs to the president will be up for grabs.
"This explosion of violence arises whenever there is an election," said Samira Gutoc, one of the convenors of the Young Moro Professionals, a group helping the government in peace talks with armed Muslim groups in the south.

Local political warlords have for generations competed for political power and the accompanying business riches that government posts offer.
These clans control private armies, which carry out assassinations and attacks on rivals.
The proliferation of over 1.1 million unlicensed firearms, most of them in the hands of rebel groups or paramilitaries, contribute to the general lawlessness in many remote areas, according to police.
In the run-up to congressional elections in 2007, a member of parliament from a northern province was gunned down on the steps of a church by an assassin hired by his rival, while attending a wedding in Manila.
All in all, 121 people were killed that polling season, according to national police statistics, slightly fewer than the 148 who died in the 2004 national elections.
But while the problem involves the entire country, experts say Maguindanao and other parts of the far southern island of Mindanao - where a Muslim insurgency has waged for decades - are particularly volatile.
"Politics in Mindanao is about ownership of power. Public office is perceived as a personal, clannish thing - a birth right, and they would spill blood for it," Gutoc said.
She said she expected more violence in the fall-out from Monday's massacre, with relatives of those killed expected to carry out vendetta killings, called rido in the local dialect.
"Retaliation is a natural course of events," she said.
At least 22 people were murdered as they accompanied the wife of Esmael Mangudadatu, a local government official, to file his candidacy for governor of Maguindanao province and end the decades-old control of a rival Muslim clan.
The military said 100 heavily armed men under the control of his rival, Andal Ampatuan, seized the group of more than 40 people and later shot many of them dead.
Twenty-two bodies have so far been found, and the death toll is likely to rise, the military said.
None of the Ampatuans could be contacted, but the military maintains that the family is probably behind the attack.
Abhoud Syed Linga, the executive director of the Institute of Bangsamoro Studies, who has done research on clan fighting, said that the murders further complicate the Muslim insurgency that has claimed more than 150,000 lives since the 1970s.
"Some rido are sustained for generations," Linga said. "The retaliation and counter-retaliation involve the whole family or clan."
The vendetta killings, he said, are the "consequence of the absence of justice" for a perceived wrong.
"Among Muslims the value of justice is strong to the extent that it becomes a duty for family members to work for justice and reject oppression," he said.
Amnesty International said that the killings underlined the danger facing civilians across the entire country before next year's elections.
"The government must prohibit and disband private armies and paramilitary forces immediately," said Amnesty's deputy director in Asia, Donna Guest.

MOUNT ARAFAT, Saudi Arabia — Muslim pilgrims holding white umbrellas against the blazing sun clambered up a rocky desert hill for prayers Thursday during the annual hajj, following a day of deadly torrential rains.
After Wednesday's sudden, unexpected downpours, the heat was scorching as the nearly 3 million pilgrims traveled to Mount Arafat, a desert plateau about 12 miles (20 kilometers) outside Mecca where the Prophet Muhammad delivered his farewell sermon.
Throughout the day, the faithful climbed up the Mountain of Mercy, a rocky hill at Arafat, and prayed for God's forgiveness of their sins in what Muslims consider the spiritual high point of the pilgrimage.
Flooding from Wednesday's downpour killed 48 people in western Saudi Arabia, Saudi officials said. None of the dead were hajj pilgrims, said Brig. Gen. Mansour al-Turki, a spokesman for the Saudi Interior Ministry. The rains tapered off Thursday but meteorologists predicted further showers.
The four-day event, which opened Wednesday, is one of the most crowded in the world, with the masses of Muslims from every corner of the globe packed shoulder to shoulder in prayers and rites.
Saudi Arabia's biggest worry for months ahead of the hajj has been swine flu. The Saudi government has been working with the United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to set up clinics and take precautions to stem any outbreak.
There is also the risk of one of the gathering's perennial dangers: deadly stampedes.
In 2006, all it took was a dropped piece of luggage to trip up a crowd and cause a pileup that killed more than 360 people at one of the holy sites. The rains also could cause flash floods or mudslides in the desert mountains where most of the rites take place.

We typically think of terrorism as a political act.
But sometimes it’s very personal. It wasn’t a government or a guerrilla insurgency that threw acid on this woman’s face in Pakistan. It was a young man whom she had rejected for marriage. As the United States ponders what to do in Afghanistan — and for that matter, in Pakistan — it is wise to understand both the political and the personal, that the very ignorance and illiteracy and misogyny that create the climate for these acid attacks can and does bleed over into the political realm. Nicholas Kristof, the New York Times op-ed columnist who traveled to Pakistan last year to write about acid attacks, put it this way in an essay at the time: “I’ve been investigating such acid attacks, which are commonly used to terrorize and subjugate women and girls in a swath of Asia from Afghanistan through Cambodia (men are almost never attacked with acid). Because women usually don’t matter in this part of the world, their attackers are rarely prosecuted and acid sales are usually not controlled. It’s a kind of terrorism that becomes accepted as part of the background noise in the region. ...
“Bangladesh has imposed controls on acid sales to curb such attacks, but otherwise it is fairly easy in Asia to walk into a shop and buy sulfuric or hydrochloric acid suitable for destroying a human face. Acid attacks and wife burnings are common in parts of Asia because the victims are the most voiceless in these societies: They are poor and female. The first step is simply for the world to take note, to give voice to these women.”
Since 1994, a Pakistani activist who founded the Progressive Women’s Association (www.pwaisbd.org) to help such women “has documented 7,800 cases of women who were deliberately burned, scalded or subjected to acid attacks, just in the Islamabad area. In only 2 percent of those cases was anyone convicted.”
The geopolitical question is already hard enough: Should the United States commit more troops to Afghanistan and for what specific purpose? As American policymakers mull the options, here is a frame of reference that puts the tough choices in even starker relief: Are acid attacks a sign of just how little the United States can do to solve intractable problems there — therefore, we should pull out? Or having declared war on terrorism, must the United States stay out of moral duty, to try to protect women such as these — and the schoolgirls whom the Taliban in Afghanistan sprayed with acid simply for going to class — who have suffered a very personal terrorist attack? We offer a reading file of two smart essays that come to differing conclusions.

Ahmed NaishPresident Mohamed Nasheed said yesterday he would seek advice from religious scholars on Islam’s position on allowing non-Muslims to worship in an Islamic community.
In his radio weekly address, the president said the constitution was "very clear" that laws contrary to Islam could not be made or enacted.
"It has become very important for me to find out what Islamic sharia says about not allowing foreigners who want to worship other religions in the Maldives," he said.
"When this bill comes from the People's Majlis for the president to ratify, the question before me will be what is the ruling in Islamic sharia on people of other religions living in an Islamic community to worship?"
The president said he needed an answer to the question before ratifying the bill. "When I know, it will be easier for me to make a decision on ratify the bill before it becomes law," he said.
Banned
Last week, a bill proposed by independent MP Ibrahim Muttalib Fares-Maathoda on outlawing places of worship for non-Muslims was sent to committee for further review with unanimous consent of all MPs who participated in the vote.
At the sitting, Muttalib said he learned that inquiries had been made with the government on establishing places of worship for expatriates and there was no law to forbid it.

“The other thing we have to think about today is that the government is considering establishing wedding tourism in the country and this will indirectly set up churches in the country,” he said.
While the bill states that foreigners or expatriates will be allowed to worship in the privacy of their homes, involving Maldivians or encouraging them to participate will be an offence.
The bill specifies a jail term of three to five years or a fine of between Rf36,000 (US$2,800) and Rf60,000 (US$4,669) for those in violation of the law.
Several MPs called for longer jail terms and higher fines, while others said foreigners in violation of the law should be deported.
But, some MPs argued the law was unnecessary as the constitution states that Islam shall be the basis of all laws and non-Muslims cannot be citizens.
Most MPs said laws were needed to seal off all avenues to freedom of religion being established in the Maldives.
Rights for Muslims
Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, state minister for Islamic affairs, told Minivan News today the president's office had not officially asked for the ministry’s advice.
"But the matter has been sent to the Fiqh academy and they will issue a decree on it," he said. Shaheem said he believed laws should be made to protect Islam and strengthen Maldivians' faith.
"Right now, Muslims aren't getting their rights," he said. "For example, there's no way for students to pray at schools, you can't get some jobs if you wear the burqa and there are some jobs where you can't grow beards."
He added the ministry had drafted regulations under the Religious Unity Act of 1994 together with the police and sent it to the president's office.
The regulations will be published in the government gazette next week, he continued, and would provide a legal framework to protect Islam.
Speaking to Minivan News today, Abdullah bin Mohamed Ibrahim, president of religious NGO Salaf Jamiyya, said he believed the bill was necessary to safeguard Islam.
"What the president said doesn't match what was in the bill," he said. "The bill is about making it illegal to build places of worship for non-Muslims. It doesn't make it illegal for foreigners to pray in their rooms or houses."
Abdullah said the association had information that Christian missionaries were trying to infiltrate the country and proselytize in the Maldives.
"I believe the bill is essential because the constitution does not forbid building places of worship," he said

GEORGE TOWN (Nov 19, 2009) : She was only seven when she was told to take an oath to embrace Islam and renounce her original faith.
Born Banggarma Subramaniam, she practised Islam in the welfare home until the age of 15.
"I was more mature and realised what had happened, and started practising Hinduism again," she said in a press conference yesterday to highlight her plight.
Banggarma said ran away from the welfare home three years later, unable to cope with the stress of living in the home.
She married S. Sockalingam, 31, according to Hindu rites, but could not register the marriage as, according to the National Registration Department, she was a Muslim.
She also could not name Sockalingam as father of their two children, Kanagaraj, 8 and Hisyanthini, 2, in their birth certificates due to this.
"When I went back to the home in 2001 to collect my documents I was told that I was still a Muslim," she said.
Banggarma tried to change her name in her MyKad to her original name, but failed.
She and Sockalingam, who are residing in Tanjung Piandang, Perak, approached the relevant authorities to help her to revert to Hinduism, but their efforts were in vain.
They then turned to PKR Kedah's Deputy Youth chief Gooi Hsiao Leung for help.
Gooi, a lawyer, said no minor is capable of giving free consent to renounce his or her own religion and embrace Islam.
"At the age of seven, she would not have understood nor appreciated the meaning of the words in the oath. She could hardly even write and spell her own name," he told the press yesterday.
Gooi said the welfare home should have left Banggarma's original religion alone until she was old enough to decide for herself.
He said he would refer her case to the relevant authorities, and if necessary, take the issue to court.

Siti Hasnah Vangarama Abdullah, now 27, was in a government welfare home, Rumah Kanak-kanak in Taman Bakti, Kepala Batas, when she and several other children, some of whom were Chinese, were told by Perkim and the Penang Muslim Affairs Council to take the oath and renounce her original Hindu faith.
Born Banggarma Subramaniam, she practised Islam in the welfare home until the age of 15.

திருச்சி கண்டோன்மென்ட் அனைத்து மகளிர் போலீசில், பூங்கோதை என்ற பெண் அளித்துள்ள புகார் மனு விவரம்:
நான் சிதம்பரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த தங்கராசுவின் மகள். கடந்த சில ஆண்டுக்கு முன்பு சுந்தரவேல் என்பவரை காதலித்து திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டேன். வரதட்சணை பிரசனையால், நான் கணவரை பிரிந்து வாழ்கிறேன்.
திருச்சி செவன்த் டே கிறிஸ்துவ அமைப்பைச் சேர்ந்த பாதிரியார் சுதாகர், நெய்வேலி மந்தாரக்குப்பத்தில் உள்ள சிறுவர் விடுதியில், காப்பாளராக எனக்கு வேலை வாங்கிக் கொடுத்தார். இதை பயன்படுத்தி, அடிக்கடி அங்கு வந்த பாதிரியார் சுதாகர், கட்டாயப்படுத்தி என்னை கற்பழித்தார்.
பின்னர் வேறு ஒருவருக்கு என்னை திருமணம் செய்து வைத்த பாதிரியார், அதன் பிறகும் கட்டாய உறவை தொடர்ந்தார். இதன் விளைவாக பெண் குழந்தை ஒன்று இறந்து பிறந்தது. இதன் பிறகும், பாதிரியாரின் செக்ஸ் டார்ச்சர் தாங்க முடியவில்லை.
இதனால், கணவருடன் அங்கிருந்து வெளியேறியதோடு, பாதிரியாரின் செயல் குறித்து ஓசூரில் உள்ள தலைமை அலுவலக நிர்வாகியிடம் புகார் கொடுத்தேன். இதி்ல், ஆத்திரமடைந்த பாதிரியார், அடியாட்கள் உதவியுடன் என்னை அடித்து துன்புறுத்தினார். பாதிரியார் சுதாகர் மீது உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று புகார் மனுவில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்த புகார் மீது உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவில்லை என்றாமல் மகளிர் அமைப்புகளை கூட்டி போராட்டம் நடத்தப் போவதாகவும் பூங்கோதை கூறியுள்ளார்.

பின்னர் வேறு ஒருவருக்கு என்னை திருமணம் செய்து வைத்த பாதிரியார், அதன் பிறகும் கட்டாய உறவை தொடர்ந்தார். இதன் விளைவாக பெண் குழந்தை ஒன்று இறந்து பிறந்தது. இதன் பிறகும், பாதிரியாரின் செக்ஸ் டார்ச்சர் தாங்க முடியவில்லை.
இதனால், கணவருடன் அங்கிருந்து வெளியேறியதோடு, பாதிரியாரின் செயல் குறித்து ஓசூரில் உள்ள தலைமை அலுவலக நிர்வாகியிடம் புகார் கொடுத்தேன். இதி்ல், ஆத்திரமடைந்த பாதிரியார், அடியாட்கள் உதவியுடன் என்னை அடித்து துன்புறுத்தினார். பாதிரியார் சுதாகர் மீது உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று புகார் மனுவில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்த புகார் மீது உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவில்லை என்றாமல் மகளிர் அமைப்புகளை கூட்டி போராட்டம் நடத்தப் போவதாகவும் பூங்கோதை கூறியுள்ளார்.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Friday sought the Jammu and Kashmir government’s stand on a lawsuit seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the custodial death of a Jammu-based Hindu boy, Rajneesh Sharma who married a Muslim girl, Anchal Sharma, alias Amina Yousuf.
Rajneesh Sharma was allegedly tortured to death by state police in October this year at the behest of his father-in-law, a police inspector.
A bench of Justices Altmas Kabir and Cyriac Joseph sought the state government’s stand on the lawsuit filed by Rajneesh’s widow, Anchal Sharma, who was Amina Yousuf before she got married and converted to Hinduism.
The lawsuit was jointly filed by Anchal and Rajneesh’s mother and brothers, who fled Jammu apprehending danger to their lives and are hiding in the national capital.
The bench issued notice to the state government, seeking its reply by Nov 27. The bench also ordered Delhi Police to provide security to the girl and her in-laws.
Asking for an independent CBI probe into Rajneesh’s custodial death, Anchal and her in-laws have said he was tortured to death by station house officers (SHOs) and other officials of the Musnshi Bagh and Bakshi Nagar police station in Srinagar at the behest of the girl’s father in the first week of October.
The lawsuit said the couple got married against the wishes of her father and brother on July 21 this year after she had converted to Hinduism and left Jammu on a honeymoon tour to various places in northern and southern parts of the country.
However, the Srinagar police, on a complaint by Anchal’s father raided Rajneesh’s shop in Jammu and apprehended his brother, who was made an accused in the criminal case for kidnapping the girl.
Continued harassment forced Rajneesh to surrender before police in early October this year. But he was never released from police custody and was eventually done to death by the policemen, alleged the lawsuit. -eSource: IANS.

Police sources said 10 NLFT militants had surrendered to state police and 15 battalion of Assam Rifles at Shantinagar under Kanchanpur subdivision and Ganganagar under Gandacherra subdivision yesterday afternoon.
In Kanchanpur, the seven self-proclaimed NLFT rebels who surrendered deposited a sophisticated INSAS rifle and 168 rounds of bullets and two magazines. In Gandacherra, three NLFT rebels surrendered and deposited a Chinese hand grenade, bullets of AK-series rifles and “tax” receipts.
However, a highly placed police official in North Tripura said the the seven who surrendered in Kanchanpur were not really NLFT militants.
“These youths, all residents of Kusharambari village, had somehow overpowered a listed NLFT rebel Sadhan Jamatya, 27, who had strayed into their area and seized his INSAS rifle and bullets. Jamatya managed to escape and inform his NLFT colleagues. The retaliatory attack followed at midnight,” he said.
Ten heavily armed NLFT militants stormed Kusharambai at midnight and rounded up eight tribals, all family members of the seven fake surrenderees, dragged them deep into the jungle near the village and shot them from point blank range. Three of those killed were women.
A large posse of police force rushed to the spot this morning and launched combing operations but the militants had fled across the still-unfenced border into Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh.
The bullet-riddled corpses were taken to Kailasahar district hospital for post mortem.
“Security has been tightened all over north Tripura, a police source said.
The sources refused to comment on the alleged fake surrender, saying interrogations were on.
The deceased have been identified as Tularam Reang, 55, Sampaiti Reang, 48, Bidhanshari Reang, 17, Sanjit Reang, 22, Rabindra Reang, 21, Malirung Reang, 50, Tamarung Reang, 22, and Pramodrai Reang, 55. Pramodrai Reang’s wife, Gayalung, 55, was injured.
DGP Pranay Sahay is in Kanchanpur to monitor the combing operations and redeployment of forces in Kushrambari. He will camp there till tomorrow afternoon.
The CPM has called a 12-hour Kanchanpur subdivision bandh tomorrow to protest against the massacre. Party workers staged demonstrations across the state against “conspiracy to destabilise the state”.
CPM spokesman and senior leader Gautam Das attributed the massacre to pre-planned conspiracy of the NLFT and its “overground sponsors” (meaning INPT) to destabilise the state before the ADC polls.
Regional INPT reacted sharply to the massacre and blamed the “excesses of police” for this.
INPT general secretary Rabindra Debbarma alleged that over the past few days Kanchanpur police had raided Kushrambari and grilled innocent villagers. He said they accused the villagers of feeding and sheltering NLFT rebels.
“The tribals got scared and when they sighted two NLFT rebels yesterday they gave a hot chase, entering Bangladesh territory where they were encircled. The killing took place on the bank of the Deo river,” he said.

He didn't run away and reason his way out of it. Satan likes to reason with people. He tries to reason with GOD. A majority of indignant church leaders need to stop putting words in the mouth of Jesus. He never said anything about taking up serpents accidentally. Stop saying otherwise. He said to "take up serpents" - plain and simple - as is. It's not rocket science. Stop making it into rocket science just to look for an excuse to get out of it. Mark 16: 15 - 18 is an Apostolic teaching from Jesus to his disciples. If you claim to be Apostolic, yet reject the last two portions of Mark 16 deliberately, not only are you NOT Apostolic, you are a liar and a sorcerer. Beware of those who claim to be Apostolic but weasel their way out of the last two commandments of Mark 16: 18. Satan can't handle that area of Scripture, so he usually runs the opposite way from it and takes whoever he can with him. Some say that "Jesus never handled poisonous snakes". Well, I say that "He never spoke in tongues either". Others say "there is no where in the Bible where serpents were handled in any worship service". My response: There didn't have to be in order to get His point across. All that matters is what Jesus said in Mark 16: 15 - 18. Just because this practice of serpent handling and poison drinking wasn't in worship services in the Bible doesn't mean that it isn't Scriptural. Moses handled a serpent and no doubt Jesus probably did too but it wasn't documented.

அதிலும் இவர்களுக்கு உண்மையான சயனைடு போன்ற விஷத்தை குடிக்கவில்லை என்பதை கவனிக்கவும். ஆகவே இவர்களுக்கு பைபிள் என்பது பொய்; கர்த்தராவது மண்ணாங்கட்டியாவது என்ற கருத்துதான் உள்ளூர உண்டு என்பதுதான் தெரிகிறது. அப்படி நம்பிக்கை இருந்தால் சயனைடு குடித்து காட்டவேண்டியதுதானே? சயனைடு குடிக்காமல் பூச்சிமருந்து கொஞ்சம் குடித்து காட்டுகிறார்கள்.

மீண்டும் சொல்கிறேன். கிறிஸ்துவ பிரார்த்தனை மூலம் குணமாகிறார்களா என்று பல அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சிகள்கூட பண்ணி பார்த்துவிட்டார்கள். அதன் பலன் பூஜ்யம் என்று பல்முறை நிரூபித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

ஒருவர் பெரிய இழப்பை சந்திக்க நேரும்போது எந்த ஒரு துரும்பு கிடைத்தாலும் போதும் என்ற நிலைக்கு வருகிறார். பெரிய இழப்புக்கு எதிராக எந்த உதவி, என்ன தியாகம் செய்யவும் தயாராக இருக்கிறார்.

ஒருவர் மிகத்துயரமான மனநிலையில் இருக்கும் போது அவரது பலவீனமான மனதை தனக்கு சாதகமாக பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்வது இழிவானது என்பது ஒரு சாதாரண மனிதனின் எண்ணம் சொல்லும்.

மனநிலை பாதிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் சமயத்தில் மதம் மாற்றி அதன் மூலம் அப்படிப்பட்ட பலவீனமான மனத்தை தக்கவைக்கிறார்கள். இதனால்தான் பெரும்பாலான கிறிஸ்துவ மதம் மாறிகள் வெகு விரைவில் பைத்தியமாகி விடுகிறார்கள்.

மேல்மருவத்தூர் ஆதிபராசக்தி எனக்கு உதவவில்லை என்று ஒரு மனிதன் நினைக்கலாம். இயேசு எனக்கு உதவினார் என்று நினைக்கலாம். ஒரு தவறும் இல்லை.
ஆனால், இயேசு ஒரு தெய்வமாக இருந்தால், “நீ அந்த தெய்வத்தை கும்பிடும் வரைக்கும் நான் உனக்கு உதவப்போவதில்லை. என்னை கும்பிட்டால்தான் உதவுவேன்” என்று சொல்லுமா?
இது என்ன மாபியா தலைவனா? “நீ அவனுக்கு சப்போர்ட் பண்ணினால், உன்னை கஷ்டப்படுத்துவேன். என் கட்சியில் சேர்ந்தால் உனக்கு அள்ளி அள்ளிக்கொடுப்பேன்” என்று சொல்வதற்கு?
தெய்வம் என்ற கருத்தையே கேவலப்படுத்துகிறார்களே அய்யா!
தெய்வம் உனக்கோ எனக்கோ பாரபட்சமானது அல்ல.
தெய்வத்தை என்ன பெயரில் அழைத்தாலும் தெய்வம் கோவித்துக்கொள்ளப்போவதில்லை.
தெய்வத்தின் முன் அனைவரும் சமம். நீ கேட்டாலும் கேட்காவிட்டாலும் உனக்கு நல்லது செய்வதுதான் தெய்வம்.
நீ என்ன கேட்கப்போகிறாய் என்று தெய்வத்துக்கு தெரியாதா?
ஆனால், கிறிஸ்துவம் என்ற ஒரு அரசியல் கட்சிக்கு விலை போவதால் என்ன பிரயோசனம்?

இது நாள்வரையில் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவிடம் பிரார்த்தனை செய்ததால், வெட்டப்பட்ட கால் முளைத்து நடந்தார் என்று ஒரு ஆளை காட்டுங்கள்.
இதுவரை எதுவும் நடக்கவில்லை என்றால் ஏன் நடக்கவில்லை? கிறிஸ்துவால் முடியாதா?
ஆகவே இந்த டெஸ்டிமனிகள் எல்லாமே பம்மாத்துக்கள்தான் என்று ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறீர்களா?
