The murders in the southern province of Maguindanao on Monday are thought to have beeny related to next year's national elections, when posts from village chiefs to the president will be up for grabs.
"This explosion of violence arises whenever there is an election," said Samira Gutoc, one of the convenors of the Young Moro Professionals, a group helping the government in peace talks with armed Muslim groups in the south.

Local political warlords have for generations competed for political power and the accompanying business riches that government posts offer.
These clans control private armies, which carry out assassinations and attacks on rivals.
The proliferation of over 1.1 million unlicensed firearms, most of them in the hands of rebel groups or paramilitaries, contribute to the general lawlessness in many remote areas, according to police.
In the run-up to congressional elections in 2007, a member of parliament from a northern province was gunned down on the steps of a church by an assassin hired by his rival, while attending a wedding in Manila.
All in all, 121 people were killed that polling season, according to national police statistics, slightly fewer than the 148 who died in the 2004 national elections.
But while the problem involves the entire country, experts say Maguindanao and other parts of the far southern island of Mindanao - where a Muslim insurgency has waged for decades - are particularly volatile.
"Politics in Mindanao is about ownership of power. Public office is perceived as a personal, clannish thing - a birth right, and they would spill blood for it," Gutoc said.
She said she expected more violence in the fall-out from Monday's massacre, with relatives of those killed expected to carry out vendetta killings, called rido in the local dialect.
"Retaliation is a natural course of events," she said.
At least 22 people were murdered as they accompanied the wife of Esmael Mangudadatu, a local government official, to file his candidacy for governor of Maguindanao province and end the decades-old control of a rival Muslim clan.
The military said 100 heavily armed men under the control of his rival, Andal Ampatuan, seized the group of more than 40 people and later shot many of them dead.
Twenty-two bodies have so far been found, and the death toll is likely to rise, the military said.
None of the Ampatuans could be contacted, but the military maintains that the family is probably behind the attack.
Abhoud Syed Linga, the executive director of the Institute of Bangsamoro Studies, who has done research on clan fighting, said that the murders further complicate the Muslim insurgency that has claimed more than 150,000 lives since the 1970s.
"Some rido are sustained for generations," Linga said. "The retaliation and counter-retaliation involve the whole family or clan."
The vendetta killings, he said, are the "consequence of the absence of justice" for a perceived wrong.
"Among Muslims the value of justice is strong to the extent that it becomes a duty for family members to work for justice and reject oppression," he said.
Amnesty International said that the killings underlined the danger facing civilians across the entire country before next year's elections.
"The government must prohibit and disband private armies and paramilitary forces immediately," said Amnesty's deputy director in Asia, Donna Guest.

MOUNT ARAFAT, Saudi Arabia — Muslim pilgrims holding white umbrellas against the blazing sun clambered up a rocky desert hill for prayers Thursday during the annual hajj, following a day of deadly torrential rains.
After Wednesday's sudden, unexpected downpours, the heat was scorching as the nearly 3 million pilgrims traveled to Mount Arafat, a desert plateau about 12 miles (20 kilometers) outside Mecca where the Prophet Muhammad delivered his farewell sermon.
Throughout the day, the faithful climbed up the Mountain of Mercy, a rocky hill at Arafat, and prayed for God's forgiveness of their sins in what Muslims consider the spiritual high point of the pilgrimage.
Flooding from Wednesday's downpour killed 48 people in western Saudi Arabia, Saudi officials said. None of the dead were hajj pilgrims, said Brig. Gen. Mansour al-Turki, a spokesman for the Saudi Interior Ministry. The rains tapered off Thursday but meteorologists predicted further showers.
The four-day event, which opened Wednesday, is one of the most crowded in the world, with the masses of Muslims from every corner of the globe packed shoulder to shoulder in prayers and rites.
Saudi Arabia's biggest worry for months ahead of the hajj has been swine flu. The Saudi government has been working with the United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to set up clinics and take precautions to stem any outbreak.
There is also the risk of one of the gathering's perennial dangers: deadly stampedes.
In 2006, all it took was a dropped piece of luggage to trip up a crowd and cause a pileup that killed more than 360 people at one of the holy sites. The rains also could cause flash floods or mudslides in the desert mountains where most of the rites take place.
It often rains in Mecca and Jiddah during the winter months, but Wednesday's downpour was the heaviest in years during the hajj. Jiddah was swamped with 7 centimeters (2.76 inches) of rain, more than it would normally get in an entire year, according to Dale Mohler, senior meteorologist at the Web site, AccuWeather.com.

We typically think of terrorism as a political act.
But sometimes it’s very personal. It wasn’t a government or a guerrilla insurgency that threw acid on this woman’s face in Pakistan. It was a young man whom she had rejected for marriage. As the United States ponders what to do in Afghanistan — and for that matter, in Pakistan — it is wise to understand both the political and the personal, that the very ignorance and illiteracy and misogyny that create the climate for these acid attacks can and does bleed over into the political realm. Nicholas Kristof, the New York Times op-ed columnist who traveled to Pakistan last year to write about acid attacks, put it this way in an essay at the time: “I’ve been investigating such acid attacks, which are commonly used to terrorize and subjugate women and girls in a swath of Asia from Afghanistan through Cambodia (men are almost never attacked with acid). Because women usually don’t matter in this part of the world, their attackers are rarely prosecuted and acid sales are usually not controlled. It’s a kind of terrorism that becomes accepted as part of the background noise in the region. ...
“Bangladesh has imposed controls on acid sales to curb such attacks, but otherwise it is fairly easy in Asia to walk into a shop and buy sulfuric or hydrochloric acid suitable for destroying a human face. Acid attacks and wife burnings are common in parts of Asia because the victims are the most voiceless in these societies: They are poor and female. The first step is simply for the world to take note, to give voice to these women.”
Since 1994, a Pakistani activist who founded the Progressive Women’s Association (www.pwaisbd.org) to help such women “has documented 7,800 cases of women who were deliberately burned, scalded or subjected to acid attacks, just in the Islamabad area. In only 2 percent of those cases was anyone convicted.”
The geopolitical question is already hard enough: Should the United States commit more troops to Afghanistan and for what specific purpose? As American policymakers mull the options, here is a frame of reference that puts the tough choices in even starker relief: Are acid attacks a sign of just how little the United States can do to solve intractable problems there — therefore, we should pull out? Or having declared war on terrorism, must the United States stay out of moral duty, to try to protect women such as these — and the schoolgirls whom the Taliban in Afghanistan sprayed with acid simply for going to class — who have suffered a very personal terrorist attack? We offer a reading file of two smart essays that come to differing conclusions.

இந்துக்கள் இதே போல அவர்களது ”மத நல்லிணக்கத்தை” அவர்களுக்கே காட்ட வேண்டிய தேவை வந்துவிட்டது.
President requests ruling on non-Muslim worship

Ahmed NaishPresident Mohamed Nasheed said yesterday he would seek advice from religious scholars on Islam’s position on allowing non-Muslims to worship in an Islamic community.
In his radio weekly address, the president said the constitution was "very clear" that laws contrary to Islam could not be made or enacted.
"It has become very important for me to find out what Islamic sharia says about not allowing foreigners who want to worship other religions in the Maldives," he said.
"When this bill comes from the People's Majlis for the president to ratify, the question before me will be what is the ruling in Islamic sharia on people of other religions living in an Islamic community to worship?"
The president said he needed an answer to the question before ratifying the bill. "When I know, it will be easier for me to make a decision on ratify the bill before it becomes law," he said.
Banned
Last week, a bill proposed by independent MP Ibrahim Muttalib Fares-Maathoda on outlawing places of worship for non-Muslims was sent to committee for further review with unanimous consent of all MPs who participated in the vote.
At the sitting, Muttalib said he learned that inquiries had been made with the government on establishing places of worship for expatriates and there was no law to forbid it.

“The other thing we have to think about today is that the government is considering establishing wedding tourism in the country and this will indirectly set up churches in the country,” he said.
While the bill states that foreigners or expatriates will be allowed to worship in the privacy of their homes, involving Maldivians or encouraging them to participate will be an offence.
The bill specifies a jail term of three to five years or a fine of between Rf36,000 (US$2,800) and Rf60,000 (US$4,669) for those in violation of the law.
Several MPs called for longer jail terms and higher fines, while others said foreigners in violation of the law should be deported.
But, some MPs argued the law was unnecessary as the constitution states that Islam shall be the basis of all laws and non-Muslims cannot be citizens.
Most MPs said laws were needed to seal off all avenues to freedom of religion being established in the Maldives.
Rights for Muslims
Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, state minister for Islamic affairs, told Minivan News today the president's office had not officially asked for the ministry’s advice.
"But the matter has been sent to the Fiqh academy and they will issue a decree on it," he said. Shaheem said he believed laws should be made to protect Islam and strengthen Maldivians' faith.
"Right now, Muslims aren't getting their rights," he said. "For example, there's no way for students to pray at schools, you can't get some jobs if you wear the burqa and there are some jobs where you can't grow beards."
He added the ministry had drafted regulations under the Religious Unity Act of 1994 together with the police and sent it to the president's office.
The regulations will be published in the government gazette next week, he continued, and would provide a legal framework to protect Islam.
Speaking to Minivan News today, Abdullah bin Mohamed Ibrahim, president of religious NGO Salaf Jamiyya, said he believed the bill was necessary to safeguard Islam.
"What the president said doesn't match what was in the bill," he said. "The bill is about making it illegal to build places of worship for non-Muslims. It doesn't make it illegal for foreigners to pray in their rooms or houses."

Ahmed NaishPresident Mohamed Nasheed said yesterday he would seek advice from religious scholars on Islam’s position on allowing non-Muslims to worship in an Islamic community.
In his radio weekly address, the president said the constitution was "very clear" that laws contrary to Islam could not be made or enacted.
"It has become very important for me to find out what Islamic sharia says about not allowing foreigners who want to worship other religions in the Maldives," he said.
"When this bill comes from the People's Majlis for the president to ratify, the question before me will be what is the ruling in Islamic sharia on people of other religions living in an Islamic community to worship?"
The president said he needed an answer to the question before ratifying the bill. "When I know, it will be easier for me to make a decision on ratify the bill before it becomes law," he said.
Banned
Last week, a bill proposed by independent MP Ibrahim Muttalib Fares-Maathoda on outlawing places of worship for non-Muslims was sent to committee for further review with unanimous consent of all MPs who participated in the vote.
At the sitting, Muttalib said he learned that inquiries had been made with the government on establishing places of worship for expatriates and there was no law to forbid it.

“The other thing we have to think about today is that the government is considering establishing wedding tourism in the country and this will indirectly set up churches in the country,” he said.
While the bill states that foreigners or expatriates will be allowed to worship in the privacy of their homes, involving Maldivians or encouraging them to participate will be an offence.
The bill specifies a jail term of three to five years or a fine of between Rf36,000 (US$2,800) and Rf60,000 (US$4,669) for those in violation of the law.
Several MPs called for longer jail terms and higher fines, while others said foreigners in violation of the law should be deported.
But, some MPs argued the law was unnecessary as the constitution states that Islam shall be the basis of all laws and non-Muslims cannot be citizens.
Most MPs said laws were needed to seal off all avenues to freedom of religion being established in the Maldives.
Rights for Muslims
Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, state minister for Islamic affairs, told Minivan News today the president's office had not officially asked for the ministry’s advice.
"But the matter has been sent to the Fiqh academy and they will issue a decree on it," he said. Shaheem said he believed laws should be made to protect Islam and strengthen Maldivians' faith.
"Right now, Muslims aren't getting their rights," he said. "For example, there's no way for students to pray at schools, you can't get some jobs if you wear the burqa and there are some jobs where you can't grow beards."
He added the ministry had drafted regulations under the Religious Unity Act of 1994 together with the police and sent it to the president's office.
The regulations will be published in the government gazette next week, he continued, and would provide a legal framework to protect Islam.
Speaking to Minivan News today, Abdullah bin Mohamed Ibrahim, president of religious NGO Salaf Jamiyya, said he believed the bill was necessary to safeguard Islam.
"What the president said doesn't match what was in the bill," he said. "The bill is about making it illegal to build places of worship for non-Muslims. It doesn't make it illegal for foreigners to pray in their rooms or houses."

GEORGE TOWN (Nov 19, 2009) : She was only seven when she was told to take an oath to embrace Islam and renounce her original faith.
Born Banggarma Subramaniam, she practised Islam in the welfare home until the age of 15.
"I was more mature and realised what had happened, and started practising Hinduism again," she said in a press conference yesterday to highlight her plight.
Banggarma said ran away from the welfare home three years later, unable to cope with the stress of living in the home.
She married S. Sockalingam, 31, according to Hindu rites, but could not register the marriage as, according to the National Registration Department, she was a Muslim.
She also could not name Sockalingam as father of their two children, Kanagaraj, 8 and Hisyanthini, 2, in their birth certificates due to this.
"When I went back to the home in 2001 to collect my documents I was told that I was still a Muslim," she said.
Banggarma tried to change her name in her MyKad to her original name, but failed.
She and Sockalingam, who are residing in Tanjung Piandang, Perak, approached the relevant authorities to help her to revert to Hinduism, but their efforts were in vain.
They then turned to PKR Kedah's Deputy Youth chief Gooi Hsiao Leung for help.
Gooi, a lawyer, said no minor is capable of giving free consent to renounce his or her own religion and embrace Islam.
"At the age of seven, she would not have understood nor appreciated the meaning of the words in the oath. She could hardly even write and spell her own name," he told the press yesterday.
Gooi said the welfare home should have left Banggarma's original religion alone until she was old enough to decide for herself.
He said he would refer her case to the relevant authorities, and if necessary, take the issue to court.

Siti Hasnah Vangarama Abdullah, now 27, was in a government welfare home, Rumah Kanak-kanak in Taman Bakti, Kepala Batas, when she and several other children, some of whom were Chinese, were told by Perkim and the Penang Muslim Affairs Council to take the oath and renounce her original Hindu faith.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Friday sought the Jammu and Kashmir government’s stand on a lawsuit seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the custodial death of a Jammu-based Hindu boy, Rajneesh Sharma who married a Muslim girl, Anchal Sharma, alias Amina Yousuf.
Rajneesh Sharma was allegedly tortured to death by state police in October this year at the behest of his father-in-law, a police inspector.
A bench of Justices Altmas Kabir and Cyriac Joseph sought the state government’s stand on the lawsuit filed by Rajneesh’s widow, Anchal Sharma, who was Amina Yousuf before she got married and converted to Hinduism.
The lawsuit was jointly filed by Anchal and Rajneesh’s mother and brothers, who fled Jammu apprehending danger to their lives and are hiding in the national capital.
The bench issued notice to the state government, seeking its reply by Nov 27. The bench also ordered Delhi Police to provide security to the girl and her in-laws.
Asking for an independent CBI probe into Rajneesh’s custodial death, Anchal and her in-laws have said he was tortured to death by station house officers (SHOs) and other officials of the Musnshi Bagh and Bakshi Nagar police station in Srinagar at the behest of the girl’s father in the first week of October.
The lawsuit said the couple got married against the wishes of her father and brother on July 21 this year after she had converted to Hinduism and left Jammu on a honeymoon tour to various places in northern and southern parts of the country.
However, the Srinagar police, on a complaint by Anchal’s father raided Rajneesh’s shop in Jammu and apprehended his brother, who was made an accused in the criminal case for kidnapping the girl.
Continued harassment forced Rajneesh to surrender before police in early October this year. But he was never released from police custody and was eventually done to death by the policemen, alleged the lawsuit. -eSource: IANS.

Agartala, Nov. 10: The National Liberation Front of Tripura gunned down eight Reang tribals of a village in North district last night in a retaliatory strike.
Police sources said 10 NLFT militants had surrendered to state police and 15 battalion of Assam Rifles at Shantinagar under Kanchanpur subdivision and Ganganagar under Gandacherra subdivision yesterday afternoon.
In Kanchanpur, the seven self-proclaimed NLFT rebels who surrendered deposited a sophisticated INSAS rifle and 168 rounds of bullets and two magazines. In Gandacherra, three NLFT rebels surrendered and deposited a Chinese hand grenade, bullets of AK-series rifles and “tax” receipts.
However, a highly placed police official in North Tripura said the the seven who surrendered in Kanchanpur were not really NLFT militants.
“These youths, all residents of Kusharambari village, had somehow overpowered a listed NLFT rebel Sadhan Jamatya, 27, who had strayed into their area and seized his INSAS rifle and bullets. Jamatya managed to escape and inform his NLFT colleagues. The retaliatory attack followed at midnight,” he said.
Ten heavily armed NLFT militants stormed Kusharambai at midnight and rounded up eight tribals, all family members of the seven fake surrenderees, dragged them deep into the jungle near the village and shot them from point blank range. Three of those killed were women.
A large posse of police force rushed to the spot this morning and launched combing operations but the militants had fled across the still-unfenced border into Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh.
The bullet-riddled corpses were taken to Kailasahar district hospital for post mortem.
“Security has been tightened all over north Tripura, a police source said.
The sources refused to comment on the alleged fake surrender, saying interrogations were on.
The deceased have been identified as Tularam Reang, 55, Sampaiti Reang, 48, Bidhanshari Reang, 17, Sanjit Reang, 22, Rabindra Reang, 21, Malirung Reang, 50, Tamarung Reang, 22, and Pramodrai Reang, 55. Pramodrai Reang’s wife, Gayalung, 55, was injured.
DGP Pranay Sahay is in Kanchanpur to monitor the combing operations and redeployment of forces in Kushrambari. He will camp there till tomorrow afternoon.
The CPM has called a 12-hour Kanchanpur subdivision bandh tomorrow to protest against the massacre. Party workers staged demonstrations across the state against “conspiracy to destabilise the state”.
CPM spokesman and senior leader Gautam Das attributed the massacre to pre-planned conspiracy of the NLFT and its “overground sponsors” (meaning INPT) to destabilise the state before the ADC polls.
Regional INPT reacted sharply to the massacre and blamed the “excesses of police” for this.
INPT general secretary Rabindra Debbarma alleged that over the past few days Kanchanpur police had raided Kushrambari and grilled innocent villagers. He said they accused the villagers of feeding and sheltering NLFT rebels.
“The tribals got scared and when they sighted two NLFT rebels yesterday they gave a hot chase, entering Bangladesh territory where they were encircled. The killing took place on the bank of the Deo river,” he said.

So, the best way to interpret this would be to figure that Paul saw the serpent and deliberately reached down to handle it - to either get it out of the way or to show the command of the Lord from Mark 16. Moses was the first serpent handler. When GOD turned the rod of Moses into a serpent in the Book of Genesis, he picked it up out of faith and trust for GOD. He didn't run away and reason his way out of it. Satan likes to reason with people. He tries to reason with GOD. A majority of indignant church leaders need to stop putting words in the mouth of Jesus. He never said anything about taking up serpents accidentally. Stop saying otherwise. He said to "take up serpents" - plain and simple - as is. It's not rocket science. Stop making it into rocket science just to look for an excuse to get out of it. Mark 16: 15 - 18 is an Apostolic teaching from Jesus to his disciples. If you claim to be Apostolic, yet reject the last two portions of Mark 16 deliberately, not only are you NOT Apostolic, you are a liar and a sorcerer. Beware of those who claim to be Apostolic but weasel their way out of the last two commandments of Mark 16: 18. Satan can't handle that area of Scripture, so he usually runs the opposite way from it and takes whoever he can with him. Some say that "Jesus never handled poisonous snakes". Well, I say that "He never spoke in tongues either". Others say "there is no where in the Bible where serpents were handled in any worship service". My response: There didn't have to be in order to get His point across. All that matters is what Jesus said in Mark 16: 15 - 18. Just because this practice of serpent handling and poison drinking wasn't in worship services in the Bible doesn't mean that it isn't Scriptural. Moses handled a serpent and no doubt Jesus probably did too but it wasn't documented.

பென்னி ஹின் ஆகட்டும், தினகரன் ஆகட்டும்.இது வரை ஒரே ஒரு ஆள் கால் முளைத்து நடந்த ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சியை காட்டுங்கள். பிறகு கிறிஸ்துவ பிரச்சாரத்தை நடத்துங்கள்.
பிரார்த்தனை மூலம் குணமாகிறது என்றால் ஏன் மருத்துவ மனைகள் நடத்துகிறீர்கள்? வெறுமே பிரார்த்தனை கூடம் நடதத வேண்டியதுதானே?
ஆனால், மருத்துவத்துக்காக வருபவர்களிடம், மத நம்பிக்கை இல்லாதவர்கள் உருவாக்கிய மருந்துகளையும் மருத்துவ வசதிகளையும் விற்கும் அதே நேரத்தில் உங்களுக்காக கர்த்தரிடம் பிரார்த்தனை செய்கிறோம் என்றும் சொல்லி அவர்களது பலவீனமான மனநிலையில் இருக்கும்போது மதம் மாற்றும் ஏமாற்று வேலைக்காகத்தானே மருத்துவ மனைகள் நடத்துகிறீர்கள்?
மீண்டும் சொல்கிறேன். கிறிஸ்துவ பிரார்த்தனை மூலம் குணமாகிறார்களா என்று பல அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சிகள்கூட பண்ணி பார்த்துவிட்டார்கள். அதன் பலன் பூஜ்யம் என்று பல்முறை நிரூபித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

ஒருவர் பெரிய இழப்பை சந்திக்க நேரும்போது எந்த ஒரு துரும்பு கிடைத்தாலும் போதும் என்ற நிலைக்கு வருகிறார். பெரிய இழப்புக்கு எதிராக எந்த உதவி, என்ன தியாகம் செய்யவும் தயாராக இருக்கிறார்.

இளம் வயதில் எங்கே மூளைச்சலவையை எளிதில் செய்யமுடியும்? சிறுவர் சிறுமியர் பள்ளிக்கூடங்களில். அதனால் சிறுவர் சிறுமியர் பள்ளிக்கூடங்களை நடத்தினார்கள். எங்கிருந்து இவற்றுக்கு பணம் வந்தது? பிரிட்டிஷ் காலனியாதிக்கமும், இதர காலனியாதிக்கங்களும் இங்கே இந்தியர்களை சுரண்டி, வரி வட்டி என்று போட்டு அவர்களை பஞ்சத்தில் தள்ளி புடுங்கிய பணத்தில் ஒரு பகுதிதான் இது.
அப்படி இங்கிருந்தே சுரண்டிய பணத்தை வைத்து இங்கேயே பிச்சைக்காசு போடுகிறார்கள். அதனையும் சுரணை கெட்ட இந்தியர்களான நாம் கையேந்தி வாங்கிக்கொண்டு டெஸ்டிமனி கொடுக்க தயாராக இருக்கிறோம்.

எனக்குத் தெரிந்து ஏராளமான முஸ்லீம்கள் பழனி முருகனுக்கு பக்தர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள். ஏராளமான கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் மேல்மருவத்தூர் கோவிலுக்கும் திருப்பதிக்கும் போகிறார்கள். ஆனால் எந்த ஒரு இந்து பிரச்சாரகரும் அவர்களின் பின்னேயே போய் , உடனே உன் பெயரை மாற்று, உன் குடும்பத்தையும் இந்து மதத்தில் சேரு, கிறிஸ்துவ மதத்தை இழிவு படுத்தி ஒரு டெஸ்டிமனி கொடு, அல்லது இஸ்லாமை இழிவு படுத்தி ஒரு டெஸ்டிமனி கொடு என்று கேட்பதில்லை. அதனை ஊரெல்லாம் பிரச்சாரம் செய்வதில்லை.

ஆனால், இங்கே இஸ்லாமியரும் கிறிஸ்துவர்களும் ஆடும் ஆட்டத்துக்கு குறைவில்லை. யாராவது ஒருவர் தர்காவுக்கு போனாலோ சர்ச்சுக்கு போனாலோ உடனே அட்டை போல ஒட்டிக்கொண்டு, நீ கிறிஸ்துவை மீட்பர் என்று ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறாயா என்று டீல் போட ஆரம்பித்துவிடுகிறார்கள். ஏனென்றால் இங்கே எத்தனை பேரை அறுவடை செய்கிறார்களோ அத்தனை பேருக்கு வெளிநாட்டிலிருந்து வெள்ளைக்காரர்கள் பிச்சை போட தயாராக இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆகவே இங்கே அறுவடை வேலை ஜரூராக நடைபெற்றுகொண்டிருக்கிறது.

ஒருவர் மிகத்துயரமான மனநிலையில் இருக்கும் போது அவரது பலவீனமான மனதை தனக்கு சாதகமாக பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்வது இழிவானது என்பது ஒரு சாதாரண மனிதனின் எண்ணம் சொல்லும்.

மனநிலை பாதிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் சமயத்தில் மதம் மாற்றி அதன் மூலம் அப்படிப்பட்ட பலவீனமான மனத்தை தக்கவைக்கிறார்கள். இதனால்தான் பெரும்பாலான கிறிஸ்துவ மதம் மாறிகள் வெகு விரைவில் பைத்தியமாகி விடுகிறார்கள்.

மேல்மருவத்தூர் ஆதிபராசக்தி எனக்கு உதவவில்லை என்று ஒரு மனிதன் நினைக்கலாம். இயேசு எனக்கு உதவினார் என்று நினைக்கலாம். ஒரு தவறும் இல்லை.
ஆனால், இயேசு ஒரு தெய்வமாக இருந்தால், “நீ அந்த தெய்வத்தை கும்பிடும் வரைக்கும் நான் உனக்கு உதவப்போவதில்லை. என்னை கும்பிட்டால்தான் உதவுவேன்” என்று சொல்லுமா?
இது என்ன மாபியா தலைவனா? “நீ அவனுக்கு சப்போர்ட் பண்ணினால், உன்னை கஷ்டப்படுத்துவேன். என் கட்சியில் சேர்ந்தால் உனக்கு அள்ளி அள்ளிக்கொடுப்பேன்” என்று சொல்வதற்கு?
தெய்வம் என்ற கருத்தையே கேவலப்படுத்துகிறார்களே அய்யா!
தெய்வம் உனக்கோ எனக்கோ பாரபட்சமானது அல்ல.
தெய்வத்தை என்ன பெயரில் அழைத்தாலும் தெய்வம் கோவித்துக்கொள்ளப்போவதில்லை.
தெய்வத்தின் முன் அனைவரும் சமம். நீ கேட்டாலும் கேட்காவிட்டாலும் உனக்கு நல்லது செய்வதுதான் தெய்வம்.
நீ என்ன கேட்கப்போகிறாய் என்று தெய்வத்துக்கு தெரியாதா?
ஆனால், கிறிஸ்துவம் என்ற ஒரு அரசியல் கட்சிக்கு விலை போவதால் என்ன பிரயோசனம்?

இதுவரை எதுவும் நடக்கவில்லை என்றால் ஏன் நடக்கவில்லை? கிறிஸ்துவால் முடியாதா?
ஆகவே இந்த டெஸ்டிமனிகள் எல்லாமே பம்மாத்துக்கள்தான் என்று ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறீர்களா?
கடவுள் கொடுத்த மூளையை உபயோகித்து பாருங்கள்.

மீண்டும் சொல்கிறேன். கிறிஸ்துவ பிரார்த்தனை மூலம் குணமாகிறார்களா என்று பல அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சிகள்கூட பண்ணி பார்த்துவிட்டார்கள். அதன் பலன் பூஜ்யம் என்று பல்முறை நிரூபித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

ஒருவர் பெரிய இழப்பை சந்திக்க நேரும்போது எந்த ஒரு துரும்பு கிடைத்தாலும் போதும் என்ற நிலைக்கு வருகிறார். பெரிய இழப்புக்கு எதிராக எந்த உதவி, என்ன தியாகம் செய்யவும் தயாராக இருக்கிறார்.

எனக்குத் தெரிந்து ஏராளமான முஸ்லீம்கள் பழனி முருகனுக்கு பக்தர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள். ஏராளமான கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் மேல்மருவத்தூர் கோவிலுக்கும் திருப்பதிக்கும் போகிறார்கள். ஆனால் எந்த ஒரு இந்து பிரச்சாரகரும் அவர்களின் பின்னேயே போய் , உடனே உன் பெயரை மாற்று, உன் குடும்பத்தையும் இந்து மதத்தில் சேரு, கிறிஸ்துவ மதத்தை இழிவு படுத்தி ஒரு டெஸ்டிமனி கொடு, அல்லது இஸ்லாமை இழிவு படுத்தி ஒரு டெஸ்டிமனி கொடு என்று கேட்பதில்லை. அதனை ஊரெல்லாம் பிரச்சாரம் செய்வதில்லை.
அந்த தனிநபருக்கு திருப்பதியில் மன அமைதி கிடைத்தால் என்ன? வேளாங்கண்ணியில் மன அமைதி கிடைத்தால் என்ன? அவரவர் மன நிம்மதி எங்கே கிடைக்கிறதோ அங்கே செல்லட்டும் என்று இந்துக்கள் விட்டுவிடுகிறார்கள்.
ஆனால், இங்கே இஸ்லாமியரும் கிறிஸ்துவர்களும் ஆடும் ஆட்டத்துக்கு குறைவில்லை. யாராவது ஒருவர் தர்காவுக்கு போனாலோ சர்ச்சுக்கு போனாலோ உடனே அட்டை போல ஒட்டிக்கொண்டு, நீ கிறிஸ்துவை மீட்பர் என்று ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறாயா என்று டீல் போட ஆரம்பித்துவிடுகிறார்கள். ஏனென்றால் இங்கே எத்தனை பேரை அறுவடை செய்கிறார்களோ அத்தனை பேருக்கு வெளிநாட்டிலிருந்து வெள்ளைக்காரர்கள் பிச்சை போட தயாராக இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆகவே இங்கே அறுவடை வேலை ஜரூராக நடைபெற்றுகொண்டிருக்கிறது.

ஒருவர் மிகத்துயரமான மனநிலையில் இருக்கும் போது அவரது பலவீனமான மனதை தனக்கு சாதகமாக பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்வது இழிவானது என்பது ஒரு சாதாரண மனிதனின் எண்ணம் சொல்லும்.
ஆனால் இந்த கிறிஸ்துவ பிரச்சாரகர்கள் யார் எங்கே பலவீனமாக இருப்பாரோ அங்கே சென்று அட்டாக் பண்ணி அதனை தனக்கு சாதகமாக பண்ணிக்கொள்வதுவே முழுத்தொழிலாக செய்துவருகிறார்கள். பள்ளிக்கூடங்களும் மருத்துவ மனைகளும் இவையே.
மனநிலை பாதிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் சமயத்தில் மதம் மாற்றி அதன் மூலம் அப்படிப்பட்ட பலவீனமான மனத்தை தக்கவைக்கிறார்கள். இதனால்தான் பெரும்பாலான கிறிஸ்துவ மதம் மாறிகள் வெகு விரைவில் பைத்தியமாகி விடுகிறார்கள்.

மேல்மருவத்தூர் ஆதிபராசக்தி எனக்கு உதவவில்லை என்று ஒரு மனிதன் நினைக்கலாம். இயேசு எனக்கு உதவினார் என்று நினைக்கலாம். ஒரு தவறும் இல்லை.
ஆனால், இயேசு ஒரு தெய்வமாக இருந்தால், “நீ அந்த தெய்வத்தை கும்பிடும் வரைக்கும் நான் உனக்கு உதவப்போவதில்லை. என்னை கும்பிட்டால்தான் உதவுவேன்” என்று சொல்லுமா?
இது என்ன மாபியா தலைவனா? “நீ அவனுக்கு சப்போர்ட் பண்ணினால், உன்னை கஷ்டப்படுத்துவேன். என் கட்சியில் சேர்ந்தால் உனக்கு அள்ளி அள்ளிக்கொடுப்பேன்” என்று சொல்வதற்கு?
தெய்வம் என்ற கருத்தையே கேவலப்படுத்துகிறார்களே அய்யா!
தெய்வம் உனக்கோ எனக்கோ பாரபட்சமானது அல்ல.
தெய்வத்தை என்ன பெயரில் அழைத்தாலும் தெய்வம் கோவித்துக்கொள்ளப்போவதில்லை.
தெய்வத்தின் முன் அனைவரும் சமம். நீ கேட்டாலும் கேட்காவிட்டாலும் உனக்கு நல்லது செய்வதுதான் தெய்வம்.
நீ என்ன கேட்கப்போகிறாய் என்று தெய்வத்துக்கு தெரியாதா?
ஆனால், கிறிஸ்துவம் என்ற ஒரு அரசியல் கட்சிக்கு விலை போவதால் என்ன பிரயோசனம்?

இதுவரை எதுவும் நடக்கவில்லை என்றால் ஏன் நடக்கவில்லை? கிறிஸ்துவால் முடியாதா?
ஆகவே இந்த டெஸ்டிமனிகள் எல்லாமே பம்மாத்துக்கள்தான் என்று ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறீர்களா?

மசூதிகளில் அல்லாவை தொழுகிறார்கள். ஆனால், சவுதி அரேபியாவில் ஷியா பிரிவினர் தொழுவதற்கு கடும் தடைகளையும் சிக்கல்களையும் சவுதி அரேபியா அரசு உருவாக்குகிறது.
சவுதியில் இருக்கும் மிகப்பழங்கால ஷியா மசூதிகளை சவுதி அரசு மூடி வருகிறது. பல மசூதிகளுக்கும் மின்சாரம் கூட கொடுப்பதில்லை.
சவுதியை பின்பற்றி இந்தியாவிலும் மசூதிகளை மூடுவதை இந்திய அரசு செய்தால், இந்திய முஸ்லீம்கள் என்ன குதி குதிப்பார்கள்.

Four Shia mosques in Khobar were closed within one year
Saudi Esmaili Shia prayers in Khobar city, East of Saudi Arabia, were forced to perform Friday prayer in intense heat as Saudi authorities cut off electric power on the only Esmaili mosque in the city.
Najrani sources told Rasid that Saudi security authorities in Khobar city cut off electric power on Thursday after several months of pressure to close the mosques as they did for three others Khobar.
Shia Prayers were forced to perform Friday Pray in intense heat and humidity which is the prevailing weather condition this time of the year.
The 1000 prayers mosque is located in Thuqba and was built 17 years back. It was used earlier as an open area for performing Eid prayers 40 years ago.
This is the only mosque in Khobar where Esmailis perform their prayers in.
Authorities claim that the cause for closing the mosque is lack of official permit and it is built in an industrial area. Authorities refuse to give permit for building a replacement mosque.
Saudi Arabia refuse to grant its Shia citizens permits for building mosques in areas where Shia is not majority unlike Qatif, Al-Hasa and Najran, where Shia is majority.
Several leading Esmaili public figures tried their way with highly ranked State officials to grant permission for performing prayers in the mosque but their efforts were in vain.
It is estimated that about 20,000 Shia citizens live in Khobar, yet Authorities refuse to grant them a permit to build a mosque.
The recent developments came after of 14 months from the Authorities campaign to close Shia mosques in Khobar which included three Shia Imami mosques in addition to the Esmaili mosque.
The predominant Shia Ithna Asharya Eastern Province has large population of Shia Esmaili who came originally from Najran, South Of Saudi Arabia, where they are majority.
It is worth noting that Shia delegation from Khobar met King Abdullah few weeks back and discussed with him the case of Shia mosques closure. There were no information about the outcome of the meeting.

Now the Oscar-winning American film-maker is set to embark on his most perilous quest to date: making a big-screen biopic of the prophet Muhammad.
Budgeted at around $150m (£91.5m), the film will chart Muhammad's life and examine his teachings. Osborne told Reuters that he envisages it as "an international epic production aimed at bridging cultures. The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam".
Osborne's production will reportedly feature English-speaking Muslim actors. It is backed by the Qatar-based production company Alnoor Holdings, who have installed the Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi to oversee all aspects of the shoot. In accordance with Islamic law, the prophet will not actually be depicted on screen.
"The film will shed light on the Prophet's life since before his birth to his death," Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mustafa, Alnoor's chairman, told al-Jazeera. "It will highlight the humanity of Prophet Muhammad."
The as-yet-untitled picture is due to go before the cameras in 2011. It remains to be seen, however, whether it will be beaten to cinemas by another Muhammad-themed drama. Late last year, producer Oscar Zoghbi announced plans to remake The Message, his controversial 1976 drama that sparked a fatal siege by protesters in Washington DC. The new version, entitled The Messenger of Peace, is currently still in development.

Shift your prayer rugs: An Iranian cleric called over the weekend for a radical change in Muslim prayer practices, urging followers to no longer pray in the direction of the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
The cleric, Ahmed Alam al-Hadi, told worshipers that Muslim states such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq have been taken over by infidels, urging them to turn instead to the holy city of Mashhad, located in Iran.
"The Hijaz lands (Saudi Arabia) had fallen victim to the Wahhabis, Iraq is occupied by the infidels, and the city of Mashhad is holy, so it alone can serve as the prayer direction for Muslims," he said.

The imam noted that about 800,000 foreign visitors arrive at Mashhad annually, as well as roughly 20 million Iranians. Hence, he claimed, the city already serves as a spiritual and religious center for Muslims and had been that way for hundreds of years.
According to a report by Iran's news agency Fars, the cleric urged Iranian authorities to reinforce their interest in Mashhad and rebuild the town's infrastructure, while also transferring government institutions and universities to the city.

The Bangladesh cabinet on Monday approved a proposed law to return Hindu properties which were confiscated during the 1965 Indo-Pak war, when the country was eastern wing of Pakistan, ending a major violation of the rights of minorities in the country.
“The cabinet meeting (chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina) approved the Vested Property Return (Amendment) Act 2009 . . . it (proposed law) will now be placed to parliament for enactment,” prime minister’s deputy press secretary Mahbubul Haque Shakil told reporters.
The proposed law is meant to redress the long-disputed law of the Pakistani era, which was widely criticised as a major violation of the minority rights. During the Pakistan period, the law was called as Enemy Property Act.
The then Pakistani regime enacted the law to confiscate the property of the Hindu families who fled the country when the India-Pakistan war broke out in 1965 while the post independent Bangladesh government renamed it as the Vested Property Act 1974.
The final cabinet approval for the law came after some amendments were made to it in line with the cabinet directives two months ago.
Officials familiar with the process said under the amended proposal, the government would publish lists of “returnable and non-returnable vested property” within a certain period of times while the claimants could also seek review about “non returnable” property.
Under the law, government committees at district and upazila or sub-district levels would settle disputes regarding the disputed property.
Awami League had enacted the law to return the minority property at the fag end of its previous 1996-2001 tenure setting a two-year implementation deadline but the subsequent Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) sat on it exposing it to a natural death.
The past military-backed interim government, however, enacted another ordinance under emergency rules with identical objectives of settling the long-standing issue but it too faced a natural death as the incumbent Awami League decided not to ratify it in parliament.
A parliamentary watchdog on March 11 this year asked the land ministry to draft the new Vested Property Return Act restoring the six-month deadline for local authorities to compile a list of land seized under the law.
Many Hindus were unable to recover landholdings lost because of discrimination under the now-defunct Vested Property Act, an East Pakistan-era law that allowed the Government to expropriate “enemy”, in practice Hindu, lands.
The then Pakistani government had seized approximately 2.5 million acres of land from Hindus, affecting nearly 10 million Hindus in the country until parliament scrapped it in April 2001.
The 2001 law stipulated that land that was seized under the be returned to its original owners, provided that the original owners or their heirs remained resident citizens.

AHMEDABAD: A city-based Christian boy, who wanted to divorce his Hindu wife, was horrified to find that his marriage with her did not stand at all!
Nilesh Narin married Kashmira Banker as per Hindu rituals in April 2002 and they were blessed with a child the following year. However, Kashmira deserted Nilesh in 2006, which made him approach the Ahmedabad family court claiming that his wife was married to one Ashish Surti in 1998 which was still valid when he married Kashmira. Therefore, the court should declare his marriage with Kashmira void. To his surprise, the court held that their marriage was not legal at all and there was no question of declaring it void on grounds that Nilesh gave.
Kashmira contested the case and proved in court that she had already divorced her first husband before marrying Nilesh. But at the end of the case, Nilesh came out of the court in March this year dejected, when the judge concluded that the court cannot declare the marriage void the way he wanted. The family court judge held that the marriage could not be considered legal and valid as per Hindu Marriage Act, because one of them was not a Hindu during marriage.
Nilesh then moved Gujarat High Court to declare his marriage void.
His counsel cited an Andhra Pradesh High Court’s order holding that a marriage between a Christian and a Hindu taken place as per Hindu rituals is ‘void ab initio’ and therefore a nullity, which was also upheld by the Supreme Court.
After hearing the case, a division Bench of Justice RM Doshit and Justice SD Dave observed that such a marriage is void as per law and the family court should have declared it annulled. The High Court finally declared the marriage as void.

சவுதி முஸ்லீம்களின் அடங்காத ஜாதிவெறி
கீழ்ஜாதியை சேர்ந்த மன்சூர் அல் திமானியை திருமணம் செய்த மேல்ஜாதி பாத்திமாவின் திருமணம் செல்லாது என்று சவுதி நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பளித்தது.
காரணம் சவுதி அரேபிய கீழ்ஜாதி ஆண் மேல்ஜாதி பெண்ணை திருமணம் செய்யக்கூடாதாம்.
இதனால் பாத்திமா சிறையில் வைக்கப்பட்டார். குழந்தைகள் அனாதாசிரமத்துக்கு அனுப்பப்பட்டனர்.
மன்சூர் அல்திமானி அனாதாசிரமத்தில் இருக்கும் தன் குழந்தைகளுடன் பிறந்தநாள் கொண்டாடினார்.
தன்னை தன் கணவனுடன் சேர்த்து வைக்கவேண்டும் என்று கடந்த 3 வருடங்களாக போராடிவரும் பாத்திமாவுக்காக இந்துக்கள் பிரார்த்தனை செய்யவேண்டும்.

Fatima wants her marriage back

JEDDAH: Suleiman celebrated his third birthday recently in an orphanage with his mother Fatima. But he is not an orphan. His parents have only been forcibly divorced.
“When I pray to God, Suleiman prays with me. He says: ‘I want to go to papa and Noha’. He’s only seen his sister and father in photographs,” said 36-year-old Fatima.
For the past two years, Fatima has lived with Suleiman at an orphanage in Dammam. In a highly publicized case, a judge nullified Fatima’s marriage to Mansour Al-Timani, 39, on July 20, 2005 after her family claimed that the husband had lied and misled them about his tribal background. Al-Timani has repeatedly denied that he had lied or misled anyone to marry Fatima.
Fatima refuses to return to the custody of the men — her half brothers — who interfered with her marriage. She was arrested in Jeddah for living with Al-Timani, whom she had legally married and with her father’s consent. Their older five-year-old child Noha is in her father’s custody.
A source at the Human Rights Commission, who refused to be named, told Arab News that the case is still pending and there has been no new developments. The reasons as to why Fatima is still awaiting a decision even though her case started three years ago are unclear to her.
“Three years is a long time to reach a decision in my case, especially when the divorce is illegal. Why hasn’t my problem been solved even though other cases were resolved? Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques (King Abdullah) once said any pending legal case should be disposed of. Didn’t anyone hear that?” said Fatima in anguish.
Fatima said she cannot take Suleiman to hospital when he is sick. His name is not included in the family ID card she has. Her husband’s ID has also expired and he is unable to renew it because of their pending case.
Shariah law does not prohibit a woman from marrying a man of a different tribal background and therefore according to Islamic law, which is the law of the Kingdom, Fatima’s marriage was perfectly legal because her father (who has since passed away) had consented to the marriage.
Sheikh Saleh bin Saad Al-Luhaidan, a legal consultant and scientific consultant of the World Association For Mental Health in the Gulf and Middle East, cited the case of Zainab bint Jahsh, who married Zaid ibn Haritha, a slave.
He explained that there are many angles to Fatima’s case that need to be tackled.
“First, I believe that the wife should return to her husband and daughter because nothing happened between them that requires divorce. However, if the tribal incompatibility is going to severely harm the wife’s family in case the marriage continues, then it’s for everyone’s best interest that the husband divorces his wife and she returns back the dowry to him,” said Al-Luhaidan.
He explained that there have been many cases where the suitor would lie about his tribal background. “In this situation, the wife should divorce the husband because he was dishonest,” said Al-Luhaidan.
According to Islamic law, Al-Luhaidan said that the woman has the right to decide for herself whether to accept the suitor or not and that the legal guardian (mahram) is only responsible for her and not to interfere with her decision.
“If the husband accepts the wife and vice-versa, the mahram shouldn’t prevent her from being with the person even if there is tribal incompatibility,” he said.
Al-Luhaidan also said that he has high hopes for a new legal strategy to study similar cases from a psychological and clinical perspective as well as developing regulations that govern such problems.
“Even if the husband is reunited with his wife, there might be psychological consequences and the children are the victim. I really wish to send a message to all judges in the country that they should be cautious, careful and take their time when dealing with a divorce case. They should help people reconcile before rushing to make decisions,” said Al-Luhaidan.
This case is similar to one that was reported in local newspapers two weeks ago. A couple, who had been married for a year and half and had a four-month-old daughter, were divorced in absentia by a judge in Qatif. The wife’s father filed the case against his son-in-law, Abdullah Ali, 30, on the basis of tribal incompatibility. The judge ordered separation of the wife, Samira, 29, from her husband until a final decision was made.
Sheikh Yusuf Al-Shbaili was quoted in the article as saying that compatibility between the husband and the wife should be based on morals and religion not on other issues.

Swine flu a hoax by business interest, Saudi religious scholar says
A member of the Senior Ulema Council claims pandemics is a hoax and that only “God decides in the matter”. He backs his argument by saying that during Ramadan, the number of funerals did not rise over the previous year, and that many of the people he knew did not get the disease despite not being vaccinated.
Riyadh (AsiaNews) – The world might be on alert for the new influenza, and Saudi authorities might be setting up preventive measures in preparation for Hajj to Makkah next November, but for Sheikh Saleh al-Luhaydan, a member of the Senior Ulema Council, it is useless because the swine flu is a huge hoax hatched by business interests. In such matters, “God decides”, the sheikh said.
Reported in Asharq Al-Awsat, the views of the Muslim religious leader were made public during a lecture at Al-Rajihi Mosque, in Riyadh.
Asked for a ruling on whether a person can pray in his house if he fears going to the mosque as a precaution against being infected by the swine flu, the sheikh said that it was not possible to “know how serious this epidemic is.”
He backed his claim by saying that during Ramadan, there was no rise in the number of funerals over last year. In addition, the Islamic scholar-cum-improvised virologist said he knew people who had not been vaccinated and who did not develop the disease.
“This is due to God's care and protection of Kaaba's visitors,” he explained.
Sheikh Saleh's statements prompted Dr Khalid Abdul-Ghafar Al Abdul-Rahman, the dean of the College of Medicine at the Islamic Imam Muhammad Bin-Saud University, to respond and emphatically said that the “epidemic does exist and has been scientifically proven."
All that can be said about the low number of cases during Ramadan is that it happened despite the huge influx of pilgrims to Makkah.
On one point, religious scholar and medical expert agree: in the end God’s hand helped the pilgrims avoid the contagion.
