At least one demonstrator has been shot dead after chaos erupted in Mombasa after Muslim youths engaged police in running battles to protest the killing of four people among them a prominent Muslim cleric.
He succumbed to bullet injuries upon arrival at Coast provincial general hospital after he was shot at Majengo. At least four people were injured and rushed to Coastal general hospital as chaos spread to other parts of Mombasa.
The youths started demonstrating soon after the lunchtime prayers at Masqud Mosque in Majengo and also torched Salvation Army Church in Majengo.
