களுவாஞ்சிக்குடி நிருபர் : வெள்ளத்தினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட போரதீவுப்பற்று பிரதேச செயலாளர் பிரிவுக்குட்பட்ட சுரவணையடியூற்று,காந்திபுர கிராம மக்களுக்கு மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்ட இந்து இளைஞர் பேரவையின் தலைவரும் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினருமான சி.யோகேஸ்வரனால் நிவாரணங்கள் வழங்கி வைக்கப்பட்டன.
இதன்போது சரவணையடியூற்று கிராமத்தில் 161 குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த 598 பேருக்கும் காந்திபுர கிராமத்தில் 214 குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த 849 பேருக்குமான உலர்உணவு பொருட்களை பேரவையின் தலைவர் வழங்கி வைத்தார்.போரதீவுபற்று பிரதேச செயலாளர் உருத்திரன் உதயசிறிதரனின் ஏற்பாட்டில் நடைபெற்ற இந்நிகழ்வில் கிராம சேவையாளர்கள் கிராம தலைவர்கள் பலரும் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
லண்டனிலுள்ள ஸ்ரீ கனகதுர்க்கை அம்மன் ஆலயம், ஸ்ரீ கணபதி ஆலயம், ஸ்ரீ நாகபூசணி அம்மன் ஆலயம்,ஸ்ரீ முருகன் ஆலயம்,சிவன் ஆலயம், அருள்மிகு முத்துமாரியம்மன் திருக்கோவில் ஆகியவற்றின் நிதியுதவியுடன் இந்நிவாரணப் பணிகள் முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

தமிழ்மொழியை அழிக்கத் திட்டமிட்ட அரசாங்கம் இன்று எமது மதம், கலாசாரத்தை அழித்து வருகிறது மட்டக்களப்பில் ஆனந்தசங்கரி
மட்டக்களப்பு நிருபர் : தமிழ்மொழியினை அழிக்க திட்டமிட்ட அரசாங்கம் எமது சமயம், கலாசாரத்தை அழித்து வருவதாகத் தெரிவிக்கும் தமிழர் விடுதலைக் கூட்டணியின் தலைவர் வீ.ஆனந்தசங்கரி, வடக்கில் அனைத்துக் கிராமங்களும் இராணுவத்தினரின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ளதுடன் இந்து ஆலயங்கள் முட்கம்பிகளால் அடைக்கப்பட்டு அருகில் புத்தர் சிலைகள் வைக்கப்படுவதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.
உள்ளூராட்சித் தேர்தலை முன்னிட்டு மட்டக்களப்புக்கு வந்துள்ள அவர், செய்தியாளர்கள் சந்திப்பிலேயே இவ்வாறு கூறினார்.
அவர் அங்கு மேலும் கூறுகையில்; எமது யுவதிகளுக்கு புனர்வாழ்வு அளிப்பதாகக் கூறிக்கொண்டு கண்டிய நடனம் பழக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இந்த நிலைமையில் நாம் ஒருவருக்கு ஒருவர் குறை கூறிக்கொண்டு பிரிந்து செயற்படமுடியாது.
எனவே நாம் எமது பகைமைகளை மறந்து ஒற்றுமைப்பட்டு அரசுக்கும் சர்வதேசத்திற்கும் அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.
நடைபெறவுள்ள உள்ளூராட்சித் தேர்தலில் வடக்கு, கிழக்கில் தமிழ்க்கட்சிகள் இணைந்த தமிழ் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்புக்கு அளிக்கும் வாக்கானது அரசை திணறவைக்கவேண்டும். இதை தமிழ் மக்கள் சிந்திக்கவேண்டும்.
வடக்கில் இராணுவத்தினரின் அராஜகமே நிலவுகிறது. சகல கிராமங்களும் இராணுவத்தின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ளன.
ஆலயங்கள், தனியார் கட்டிடங்கள், வீதிகள், கடைத்தொகுதிகள் எல்லாம் இராணுவத்தினரின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் முட்கம்பிகளால் அடைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. அருகில் புத்தர் சிலைகள் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. எமது சமயத்தை அழிக்க முயற்சிக்கின்றனர்.
இரணைமடுவில் காவல் தெய்வம் என அழைக்கப்பட்டு வந்த கனகாம்பிகை அம்மன் ஆலயம் முட்கம்பி வேலியால் மூடப்பட்டு புத்தர் சிலை வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதுமட்டுமல்ல சந்திக்குச் சந்தி புத்தர் சிலைகளை வைத்து பௌத்த மதத்தை பரப்புகின்றனர்.
நான் பௌத்த மதத்துக்கு எதிரானவன் அல்ல. ஒரு மதத்தை மக்கள் விரும்பி ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளவேண்டும். எமது மக்களிடம் இராணுவத்தினர் பௌத்தத்தை திணிக்கக்கூடாது.
ஒரு சமயத்தை சமயக்குரவர்கள் ஊடாக வளர்க்கவேண்டும். மாறாக ஆயுத முனையில் இராணுவத்தினரினூடாக வளர்ந்த அரசு முயல்வதை ஏற்க முடியாது.
விடுதலைப்புலிகளின் போராளிகள் எனக்கைதான யுவதிகளுக்கும் பரத நாட்டியம் பழக்கவேண்டும். ஆனால் கண்டிய நாட்டியத்தை பழக்குகின்றனர். இவ்வாறாக எமது கலாசாரத்தை அழிக்கின்றனர்.
விடுதலைப்புலிகளிடம் இருந்த 10 ஆயிரம் பேருக்கு புனர்வாழ்வு அளிப்பதாக கூறுகின்றனர். இவர்கள் அனைவரும் விடுதலைப்புலிகள் உறுப்பினர்கள் அல்ல. அப்பாவி இளைஞர்களையும் கைது செய்து புலி முத்திரை குத்தி புனர்வாழ்வு என்ற பெயரில் முகாமில் வைத்துள்ளனர்.
இதனால் எத்தனையோ இளைஞர்களின் கல்வி பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பெற்றோர்கள் தமது பிள்ளைகளை டாக்டர்களாக்க வேண்டும் எனக் கனவு கண்டிருக்க அரசாங்கம் அப்பிள்ளைகளுக்கு மரவேலை, தையல்வேலை என்று பழக்குகிறது.
வடக்கில் கிராமங்களில் இராணுவம் நிலை கொண்டிருப்பதால் மாலை 6 மணிக்குப் பின்னர் வீட்டைவிட்டு வெளியேற முடியாத நிலையில் அச்சத்துடன் காணப்படுகின்றனர். இப்படியான நிலையில் நாம் கடந்த கால சம்பவங்கள் அனைத்தையும் மறந்துவிட்டு ஒருவரை ஒருவர் குறை கூறிக்கொண்டு பிரிந்து நிற்காமல் 1972 இல் தந்தை செல்வநாயகத்தின் பின்னால் ஓரணியில் திரண்டதுபோல ஒன்றுபட்டு செயற்படவேண்டியது அவசியம். இதன் மூலம் அரசுக்கும் சர்வதேசத்துக்கும் அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.
எதிர்வரும் உள்ளூராட்சித் தேர்தலில் எமது கூட்டமைப்புக்கு பரீட்சார்த்தமான தேர்தலாகும். எமக்கு கிடைக்கின்ற வெற்றியானது அரசை திணறவைக்க வேண்டும். அதற்காக தமிழ் மக்கள் அனைவரும் அணிதிரண்டு எமது வெற்றிக்காக உழைக்கவேண்டியது அவசியம்.
இச்சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் தற்போது தமிழ்க்கட்சிகள் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து ஒரே அணியில் இருக்கும்போது ஈ.பி.ஆர்.எல்.எவ்.பத்மநாபா அணி, தமிழ் மக்கள் விடுதலைப்புலிகள் கட்சி என்பன உள்வாங்கப்படவில்லை. இவர்களை இணைத்துக் கொள்ளாததால் குறிப்பாக கிழக்கில் தமிழ் மக்களிடையே பிளவுகள் காணப்படும் நிலை உள்ளது. இவர்களையும் இணைத்துக் கொள்ளவேண்டியது அவசியம் என்றார்.
முன்னாள் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் ஞா.கிருஷ்ணபிள்ளை (வெள்ளிமலை) மற்றும் தமிழர் விடுதலைக்கூட்டணி பிரமுகர் சோமசுந்தரம் ஆகியோரும் இதில் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

இஸ்லாமாபாத், பிப்.2- பாகிஸ்தானில் இந்துக்கள் உள்ளிட்ட சிறுபான்மையினருக்கு பாதுகாப்பு இல்லை என்று அந்நாட்டில் இருந்து வெளிவரும் பிரபல நாளிதழான "டெய்லி டைம்ஸ்" இன்றைய தலையங்கத்தில் எழுதியுள்ளது.
பாகிஸ்தான் முஸ்லீம் லீக் (பிஎம்எல்-எஃப்) கட்சியின் சார்பில் சிந்து தொகுதி எம்எல்ஏ.,வாக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட ராம் சிங் சோதோ தனது பதவியை கடந்த சனிக்கிழமை ராஜிநாமா செய்தார். இந்தியா வந்துள்ள அவர் இங்கிருந்தபடியே தனது ராஜிநாமா கடிதத்தை சிந்து மாகாண பேரவைத் தலைவருக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தார்.
பாகிஸ்தானில் அச்சுறுத்தல் காரணமாக தனது உயிருக்கு ஆபத்து என்றும் அவர் புகார் கூறியிருந்தார்.
இந்நிலையில், இந்த விவகாரத்தை சுட்டிக்காட்டி பாகிஸ்தானில் சிறுபான்மையினருக்கு பாதுகாப்பு இல்லாத நிலை உள்ளதாக "டெய்லி டைம்ஸ்" பத்திரிகை எழுதியுள்ளது பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.
அந்த பத்திரிகையின் தலையங்கத்தில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளதாவது:
சிந்து மற்றும் பலுசிஸ்தான் மாகாணத்தில் வரலாற்று ரீதியாக சிறுபான்மையினர் குறிப்பாக இந்துக்கள் சமூகத்தின் ஓர் அங்கமாகவே திகழ்கின்றனர். பாக். பிரிவினையின்போது இந்தியாவில் பஞ்சாப் மாநிலத்தில் கூட மத வன்முறைச் சம்பவங்கள் ஏற்பட்டது. ஆனால், சிந்து மற்றும் பலுசிஸ்தான் மாகாணங்கள் மிகவும் அமைதியாக இருந்தன.
சிந்து மாகாணத்தின் கிராமப் பகுதிகளில் இந்து குடும்பங்கள் பெரும்பான்மையாக வசிக்கின்றனர். அந்த மாகாண வளர்ச்சிக்கு அவர்கள் பெரும் பங்களிப்பை வழங்கி வருகின்றனர். சிந்து பகுதியின் கலாசாரத்தையும் பாரம்பரியத்தையும் அவர்கள் காப்பாற்றி வருகின்றனர்.
ஆனால், பாகிஸ்தானில் இனம் மற்றும் மதம் அடிப்படையிலான அனைத்து சிறுபான்மையினருக்கும் பாதுகாப்பற்ற நிலையே உள்ளது.
ஷியாக்கள், அகமதிக்கள், கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் ஆகியோர் முன்பு தாக்கப்பட்டு வந்தனர். தற்போது இந்துக்கள் தினமும் குறிவைக்கப்படுகின்றனர்.
சிறுபான்மையினர் நலனுக்கான பாதுகாவலர் என்று கூறிக்கொள்ளும் பாகிஸ்தான் மக்கள் கட்சியின் அரசு இப்பிரச்னையில் தகுந்த நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.
பாகிஸ்தானில் சிறுபான்மையினரை பாதுகாக்க சட்டரீதியாகவும் போதிய ஏற்பாடுகளை செய்யவும் தொடர்ந்து அமைந்த அரசுகள் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கத் தவறிவிட்டன.
பாக். பிரிவினையின் போது, சிறுபான்மையினர் சமமாக நடத்தப்படுவார்கள் என்று அளிக்கப்பட்ட உறுதிமொழியை காப்பாற்ற அரசு தவறிவிட்டது குறித்து சிறுபான்மை அமைப்புகள் அவ்வப்போது கேள்வி எழுப்பி வந்தன. ஆனால், அதுவும் கவனத்தில் கொள்ளப்படவில்லை.
பாகிஸ்தானிய சமூகத்தில் எதிர்மறை நடவடிக்கைகள் அதிகரித்துவிட்டன. இதை கட்டுப்படுத்த இயலாத நிலையும் அதிகரித்துவிட்டது.
பாகிஸ்தானின் பஞ்சாப் மாகாண ஆளுநர் ஷாஹித் சல்மான் தஷீர் சுட்டுக் கொல்லப்பட்ட சம்பவமே இதற்கு சிறந்த உதாரணமாக உள்ளது.

ஐரோப்பாவிலேயே மிகப்பெரிய இந்து கோவில் நெதர்லாந்து நாட்டில் தி ஹேக் நகரில் கட்டப்பட இருக்கிறது. இந்த கோவில் வளாகத்தில் 3 கோவில்கள் இருக்கும். வசிப்பிட பகுதியும், சுற்றுலா வளாகமும் இருக்கும்.
3 இந்து குழுக்கள் இந்த கோவில் வளாகத்தை கட்டுவதற்கு திட்டமிட்டுள்ளன. ஹாலந்து ஸ்பூர் ரெயில் நிலையத்துக்கு பின்னால் இந்த கோவில் வளாகம் கட்டப்படுகிறது. இந்த வளாகத்தில் 45 அபார்ட்மெண்டுகள் கட்டப்படும். இங்கு யோகா, தியான வகுப்பு ஆகியவையும் இயங்கும். இங்குள்ள வசிப்பிட பகுதியில் இந்து அல்லாதவர்களும் தங்கலாம். தி ஹேக் நகரசபை உறுப்பினரான ராஜேஷ் ராம்னேவாஷ் இந்த கட்டிடத்தின் வடிவமைப்பை இறுதியாக்கி இருக்கிறார். நெதர்லாந்து நாட்டு மக்கள்தொகையில் ஒரு சதவீதம் பேர் இந்துக்கள் ஆவார்கள்.

மறைந்த பிரபல நகைச்சுவை நடிகர் சார்ளி சாப்ளினின் பேரன், தனது 60-வது வயதில் 52 வயது பெண்ணை இந்து கலாசார முறைப்படி திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டார். இந்த திருமணம் கர்நாடகத்தில் நடந்தது.

நகைச்சுவை நடிகர்களில் பிரபலமானவர் சார்ளி சாப்ளின். பேசாமலேயே தனது சேட்டைகளால் பார்வையாளர்களை வயிறு குலுங்க சிரிக்க வைக்கும் திறன் படைத்த அவரது பேரன் மார்க் ஜோப்ளின். இவருக்கு தற்போது 60 வயது ஆகிறது. அமெரிக்காவை சேர்ந்தவர்.
மார்க் ஜோப்ளினுக்கு இசையில் மிகுந்த நாட்டம் உண்டு. தபலா, மிருதங்கம் பொன்ற கருவிகளை நன்றாக வாசிக்க தெரிந்தவர். அமெரிக்காவை சேர்ந்தவரான அவர் 40 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் இந்தியாவுக்கு வந்து விட்டார். கர்நாடக மாநிலம் கார்வார் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள புகழ்பெற்ற சுற்றுலா தலமான கோகர்ணாவில் அவர் வசித்து வருகிறார்.

திருமணத்துக்கு சம்மதம்
இதை தொடர்ந்து தனது விருப்பத்தை டெர்ராவிடம் தெரிவித்தார், மார்க். அதைக்கேட்டு மகிழ்ந்த டெர்ரா, திருமணத்துக்கு சம்மதித்தார். அத்துடன் இந்து முறைப்படி திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்ற தனது நிபந்தனையையும் மார்க் கூறினார். அதற்கும் டெர்ரா பச்சைக் கொடி காட்டினார்.
இதை அடுத்து, கோகர்ணாவில் வசிக்கும் தனது நண்பரான பரமேஷ்வர் சாஸ்திரியை மார்க் சந்தித்து தனது திருமணத்துக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்யும்படி கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். அதன்படி மார்க்-டெர்ரா திருமணத்துக்கான ஏற்பாடுகளை பரமேஷ்வர் சாஸ்திரி கவனிக்க தொடங்கினார்.

மார்க்-டெர்ரா திருமணம், கார்வாரில் உள்ள குட்லேபீச் கடற்கரையில் நடந்தது. திருமணத்தை கோபால் சாஸ்திரி என்ற புரோகிதர் நடத்தினார். கணேச பூஜை முதல் கன்யாதானம் வரை அனைத்தும் இந்து பாரம்பரிய முறைப்படி நடத்தப்பட்டன.

A Muslim cleric, once decorated by Buckingham Palace, is facing jail after being convicted of 'preying on' and 'abusing' two boys at his mosque.
Mohammed Hanif Khan, 42, one of Britain's most influential imams, became the first ever full-time Islamic minister in the history of the British prison service in 2001.
Highly respected, in 2004 he visited the Palace to receive a Butlers' Trust Award from Princess Anne for his work in diversity. Under his grand title of Sheik Mohammed Hanif Haqqani Kareemi he led prayers and gave Islamic education to boys.
But a two-week long trial at Nottingham Crown Court heard Hanif Khan used his position of power at the mosque in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, to terrify, intimidate and abuse the two young boys in 2009 - then aged 12 and 15.
After three days of deliberation a jury found him guilty of two counts of rape and one count of sexual activity with a child. He was remanded in custody for sentencing at a later date.

During the trial - which has prompted high emotion in the local community - prosecutor Tariq Shakor Khan explained how both boys kept their abuse secret from one another, each believing they were the Imam's only victims.
Mr Khan said the youngest boy was raped outside the mosque by some bins after being asked to take the rubbish out.
The boy told officers that at first the imam was stern like a schoolteacher, but gradually he began talking to him 'nicely'.
But play fights soon turned sexual and Hanif Khan allegedly raped the boy repeatedly over a two-month period in one of the mosque's room.
He said the sex attacks happened after formal prayers with others from the congregation when Hanif Khan would ask the boy to go into the private committee room and lay out his prayer mat.
After the last attack in October 2009 the youngest boy claimed Hanif Khan told him he was going to take him somewhere else and 'do it to him specially'. The following day he told a friend and was advised to inform his parents.

Afterwards the boy's 15 year-old cousin was asked if anything had happened to him when he had once stayed at Hanif Khan's home overnight, at which point he too claimed he had been assaulted.
The teenager alleged Hanif Khan lay on his bed and asked if the teen could massage his neck, but when he complained he was not doing it correctly he said he would show him how it was done.
The 15 year old told detectives Hanif Khan began touching his genitals and then attempted to rape him.
The following morning Hanif Khan dropped him back at home with a warning that: 'Whatever happened in the house, stays in the house.'
The imam was arrested in October 2009 after he had been the victim of an assault by members of the youngsters' families after the allegations first coming to light.
Hanif Khan told detectives there was absolutely no truth in the allegations and that he had acted properly 'both inside and outside the mosque'.
Prosecutor Tariq Shakor Khan added: 'He said that as part of his pastoral duties he had sought to correct the boys' behaviour in areas where they had gone wrong.'
As soon the allegations were known in the community there was an immediate revenge attack on Hanif Khan - as three men held him down and shaved off his beard to humiliate him.
Last October North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court heard that Mohammed Jameel, 31, Mohammed Nadeem, 28, and Mohammed Safir, 32, held him down as he was shaved with electric clippers.
Jameel and Mohammed Safir were sentenced to a total of 26 weeks in prison while Nadeem escaped jail, after the court heard he reluctantly took part in the attack.
DI Tim Martin, from Staffordshire Police, said: 'We welcome today's verdict.
'This has been a thorough and sensitive inquiry, and we realise that the case has been cause for some understandable concern in the community.
'I would like to thank the victims and their families for their bravery in coming forward and reporting the offences to us.
'After the offences were reported to us in 2009 a detailed investigation was immediately undertaken by detectives, who have worked closely with colleagues at the Crown Prosecution Service.
'Khan protested his innocence throughout the investigation, and during the court proceedings, but the jury did not believe his account of events and recognised he had abused his position of trust.'
Don Knapper, District Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in Staffordshire, said: 'This is a case of abuse on young boys by a man whom they and their families trusted.
'Khan was in a position of trust and exploited the access he was afforded as their teacher to abuse the boys.
'Khan protested his innocence throughout the court proceedings; however the jury disbelieved this and accepted the prosecution case.
'Our thoughts are of course with the victims and their families at this time and hope that today's conviction will help them come to terms with what has happened to them.'

Berks County authorities charged Richard Nachajski, 64, of York, Pa. with theft, forgery and related counts while he was at St. Anthony's of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Reading. He was at the parish from 1998 until March 2009, when he took a leave of absence, investigators said.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Allentown found suspicious purchases, transactions and transfers, unaccounted funds and an unknown bank account during a routine audit and contacted the Berks County District Attorney's Office in November 2009.
Officials intend to file an insurance claim and expect to be reimbursed for much of the money.
Nachajski surrendered to authorities for arraignment Wednesday and was released on $25,000 bail pending a Feb. 25 hearing.
Defense attorney Lawrence Hracho did not immediately return a call from the AP seeking comment.

இஸ்லாமிய மார்க்கத்திற்கும், நபிகள் நாயகத்திற்கும் எதிரான கருத்துக்களை தனது பரீட்சை வினாத்தாளில் எழுதிய பாகிஸ்தானின் காராச்சியைச் சேர்ந்த மாணவர் ஒருவரை அந்நாட்டுப் பொலிஸார் கைது செய்தமை தொடர்பில் மனித உரிமை அமைப்புக்கள் கண்டனம் தெரிவித்துள்ளன.
முஹமட் சமியுல்லா என்ற 17 வயதான அவர் கடந்தவருடம் ஏப்ரல் மாதத்தில் தோற்றிய பரீட்சையின்போது தனது வினாத்தாளில் இஸ்லாத்திற்கு எதிராகவும், முஹம்மது நபியை அவமதிக்கும் வகையிலும் கருத்துக்களை குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.
இவ்விடயம் தொடர்பில் அந்நாட்டுக் கல்வித் திணைகளத்தின் உயர் அதிகாரி ஒருவர் பொலிஸில் முறைப்பாடு செய்ததையடுத்தே அந்த மாணவன் கைது செய்யப்பட்டான்.
இதனைத்தொடர்ந்து நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜர்படுத்தப்பட்ட அவரை 14 நாட்கள் தடுப்புக்காவலில் வைக்குமாறு நீதிபதி மக்பூல் மெமோன் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.

இலங்கை தூதரகத்தை முற்றுகையிட முயன்ற பா.ஜ.க.வினர் 200 பேர் கைது

சென்னையில் உள்ள இலங்கை தூதரகத்தை முற்றுகையிட முயன்ற பா.ஜ.க.வினர் 200 பேர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டனர்.
இலங்கை கடற்படையினரால் சிறைவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள தமிழக மீனவர்களை உடனடியாக விடுவிக்கக் கோரி இந்த முற்றுகை போராட்டம் நடைபெற்றது.
மாநிலத் தலைவர் பொன்.ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் தலைமையில் திரண்ட 200 பா.ஜ.க.வினர் மயிலாப்பூரில் இருந்து இலங்கை தூதரகம் உள்ள ஆழ்வார்பேட்டைக்கு பேரணியாக சென்றனர்.
அப்போது தூதரகத்தை முற்றுகையிட முயன்ற பொன்.ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் உள்பட 200 பேரை காவல்துறையினர் கைது செய்தனர்.

கால்களுடன் பாம்பு! லெபனானில் எலும்புக்கூடு கண்டுபிடிப்பு
கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் என்ற மதப்பிரிவைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் உண்மை என்று நம்பும் புத்தகத்தில் ஆறாயிரம் வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னால் யாஹ்வே என்ற யூத தெய்வம் சாத்தானிடம் இனி உடலால் தான் ஊற வேண்டும் என்று பாம்பிடம் சாபம் கொடுத்ததாம். அதனால்தான் பாம்புகள் கால்கள் இல்லாமல் இருக்கின்றனவாம்.
ஆனால், பல கோடி ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னரே பாம்புகள் கால்களை இழந்துவிட்டன. பரிணாமவியல் காரணமாக அவை கால்கள் இல்லாமல் ஊர்ந்து செல்வனவாக மாறின என்று கண்டறிந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.
ஆனால், பரிணாமவியலை கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் ஒப்புகொள்வதில்லை. யாஹ்வே “அப்படி அப்படியே:”படைத்தார். அதற்கப்புறம் மனிதர்களோ அல்லது விலங்குகளோ மாற்றமடையாது என்று இவர்கள் அறிவியலுக்கு எதிரியாக யூதர்களின் பழங்கால புராணக்கதையை கட்டிகொண்டு அழுகிறார்கள்.
பைபிள் என்பது பொய், அது ஒரே புழுகு மூட்டை, அறிவியல் தெரியாத பழங்குடிகளின் கதைகள் என்று ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் அறிவியல் நிரூபித்துகொண்டே இருக்கிறது.
யாஹே தெய்வம் பாம்புகளுக்கு கால்களை எடுத்துவிட்டதும், எல்லா பாம்புகளுக்கும் கால்கள் இல்லாமல் ஆகியிருக்க வேண்டுமல்லவா? அப்படித்தான் இல்லை. கால்கள் இருக்கும் பாம்புகளும் இருக்கின்றன.
பல பாம்பு வகைகளுக்கு கால்கள் உண்டு. மனித உடலில் உபயோகப்படாத அப்பெண்டிக்ஸ் இருப்பது போல எல்லா பாம்புகளுக்கும் மறைவாக கால்கள் உண்டு. சில வேளைகளில் அவை பெரியதாகவும் வளர்ந்துவிடும்.

கால்களுடன் வாழ்ந்த பாம்பின் எலும்புக்கூடு லெபனானில் கண்டு பிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.பாம்புகள் ஊர்வன இனத்தை சேர்ந்தவை. அவைகளுக்கு கால்கள் கிடையாது.
இதற்கு முன்பு கால்களுடன் பாம்புகள் இருந்ததற்கான ஆதாரம் தற்போது கிடைத்துள்ளது. பழங்காலத்தில் வாழ்ந்த அரிய உயிரினங்கள் குறித்து ஆய்வு செய்யும் நிபுணர்கள் லெபனானில் ஒரு பாம்பின் எலும்பு கூட்டை கண்டெடுத்தனர்.
சுமார் 19 “இஞ்ச்” நீள முள்ள அந்த பாம்பின் எலும்பு கூட்டில் கால்கள் இருந்ததற்கான அடையாளங்கள் உள்ளன. இவை சுமார் 9 1/2 கோடி ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு வாழ்ந்ததாக இருக்கலாம் என கருதப்படுகிறது.
லெபனானில் கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட பாம்பின் எலும்பு கூட்டில் சுமார் “1 இஞ்ச்” அளவுக்கு கால் எலும்புகள் இருந்தன. அதே நேரத்தில் பாம்பின் வயிற்றுப் பகுதியில் கால்கள் வளர்ந்து வந்ததற்கான அறிகுறிகளும் இருந்தன.
அந்த எலும்புகள் “1/2 இஞ்ச்” அளவில் வளர்ந்திருந்தன.இந்த வகை பாம்புகள் கால்கள் மூலம் நடந்து திரிந்ததால் நிலத்திலும், நீரிலும், பொந்துகளிலும் வாழ்ந்து இருக்கலாம் என விஞ்ஞானிகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.

ஆனால், பல கோடி ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னரே பாம்புகள் கால்களை இழந்துவிட்டன. பரிணாமவியல் காரணமாக அவை கால்கள் இல்லாமல் ஊர்ந்து செல்வனவாக மாறின என்று கண்டறிந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.
ஆனால், பரிணாமவியலை கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் ஒப்புகொள்வதில்லை. யாஹ்வே “அப்படி அப்படியே:”படைத்தார். அதற்கப்புறம் மனிதர்களோ அல்லது விலங்குகளோ மாற்றமடையாது என்று இவர்கள் அறிவியலுக்கு எதிரியாக யூதர்களின் பழங்கால புராணக்கதையை கட்டிகொண்டு அழுகிறார்கள்.
பைபிள் என்பது பொய், அது ஒரே புழுகு மூட்டை, அறிவியல் தெரியாத பழங்குடிகளின் கதைகள் என்று ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் அறிவியல் நிரூபித்துகொண்டே இருக்கிறது.

கால்களுடன் வாழ்ந்த பாம்பின் எலும்புக்கூடு லெபனானில் கண்டு பிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.பாம்புகள் ஊர்வன இனத்தை சேர்ந்தவை. அவைகளுக்கு கால்கள் கிடையாது.
இதற்கு முன்பு கால்களுடன் பாம்புகள் இருந்ததற்கான ஆதாரம் தற்போது கிடைத்துள்ளது. பழங்காலத்தில் வாழ்ந்த அரிய உயிரினங்கள் குறித்து ஆய்வு செய்யும் நிபுணர்கள் லெபனானில் ஒரு பாம்பின் எலும்பு கூட்டை கண்டெடுத்தனர்.
சுமார் 19 “இஞ்ச்” நீள முள்ள அந்த பாம்பின் எலும்பு கூட்டில் கால்கள் இருந்ததற்கான அடையாளங்கள் உள்ளன. இவை சுமார் 9 1/2 கோடி ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு வாழ்ந்ததாக இருக்கலாம் என கருதப்படுகிறது.

HUSHEYPUR (RAJASTHAN): A mournful silence welcomes visitors to Husheypur village in Alwar district, 265 km from Jaipur. For more than 20 days, men of the 40 Dalit households are missing and their women live in fear of attacks by the village's Muslim community. On January 19, a minor scuffle between the two communities turned violent.
Zahid Khan was shot dead by a group of Dalits after he ran over a chicken with his tractor. A spat led to a bloodbath between the communities that have lived together for over a century. Men from the Muslim community ransacked and set on fire Dalits homes. The families fled and only elderly women with their children, who had also fled, returned last week.
SP Mahesh Goyal said a committee had been formed from representatives of all communities to resolve the tension. ''We are in touch with the Dalits who have fled the village and members of the other community. We have provided enough security at the village and the Dalits should be back in a day or two,'' he said, adding that those who fled are the accused in the firing incident. Haaji Kallu, the victim's father, says, ''From administration to social activitists, whoever comes here, asks us to maintain peace. We want peace but how will I raise five grandchildren... Administration gave ex-gratia to those whose houses were ransacked but no one asked me if I need anything,'' he says.
Kamla Devi, whose house was also attacked, said, ''We were never a part of the violence, yet we were targeted. They looted the cash and jewellery I had saved for my daughter Suman's wedding in May. I feel helpless, it would be easy just to strangulate my daughter and commit suicide.''

காலணியில் இந்து தெய்வப் படங்களை அச்சிட்டு விற்பனை செய்யும் நடவடிக்கையை டிஎபி கிள்ளான் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் சார்ல்ஸ் சந்தியாகு கடுமையாக சாடியுள்ளார்.
“இப்போதெல்லாம் இந்தியர்களை எப்படியெல்லாம் இழிவுபடுத்த முடியுமோ அப்படியெல்லாம் இழிவுபடுத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர்”, என்றார் சார்ல்ஸ்.
இதற்கு இண்டர்லோக் நாவல் விவகாரம் ஓர் எடுத்துக்காட்டு. அந்நாவலில் குறிப்பிட்ட ஒரு சாதியினரை கேவலப்படுத்தி எழுதி ஒட்டுமொத்த இந்தியர்களையும் இழிவுபடுத்தியுள்ளனர். பல தரப்புகளிலிருந்தும் எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தும் அந்நாவலை மீட்டுக்கொள்வதில் அரசாங்கம் இணக்கம் காட்டவில்லை என்றாரவர்.
இப்போது, காலணியில் இந்து தெய்வங்களின் படங்கள் அச்சிடப்படு விற்பனையாகிறது. அதனைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்துவதற்கு எவ்வித நடவடிக்கையும் இதுவரையில் எடுக்கப்படவில்லை என்று கூறிய சார்ல்ஸ், “இது வேண்டுமென்றே இந்தியர்களின் கோபத்தைத் தூண்டும் நடவடிக்கைபோல் தெரிகிறது”, என்றார்.
“அனைத்து சமயங்களையும் மதிக்க வேண்டியது மிக முக்கியம். ஆனால், மலேசியாவில் எல்லாம் தலைகீழாக நடந்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இதனை அறிந்தும் அரசாங்கம் எந்த ஒரு நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்காமல் இருப்பது மிக வியப்பாக உள்ளது”, என்று சார்ல்ஸ் கூறினார்.
“நாட்டின் ஒற்றுமையையும் நல்லுறவையும் பாழ்படுத்தும் நிகழ்வுகள் மலேசியாவில் நடந்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. அவற்றைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்தவும், அவை மீண்டும் தோன்றாமல் இருப்பதை உறுதி செய்யவும் அரசாங்கம் என்ன செய்துள்ளது”, என்று அவர் வினவினார்.
நாட்டு மக்களிடையே ஒற்றுமையை ஓங்கச் செய்வதும் அவர்களுடையில் பிளவுகள் தோன்றாமல் இருப்பதை உறுதி செய்வதும் அரசாங்கத்தின் கடமை என்பதைச் சுட்டிக் காட்டிய அவர், “இந்தியர்களை மேலும் மேலும் புண்படுத்தும் செயல்களை தடுக்கவும் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட தரப்பினருக்கு எதிராகச் சட்ட நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவும் அரசாங்கம் முனைப்புக் காட்ட வேண்டும்”, என்பதை வலியுறுத்தினார்.

 செருப்புகளில் இந்து கடவுள்களின் உருவங்கள் பொறிக்கப்பட்டு விற்பனை செய்யப்படுகின்றன. இதற்கு மலேசியாவில் உள்ள இந்து அமைப்புகள் கடும் எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்துள்ளன.மலேசியாவில் உள்ள சில கடைகளில் இந்து கடவுள்களின் உருவங்கள் பொறிக்கப்பட்ட செருப்புகள் விற்பனை செய்யப்படுகின்றன என அங்கு வெளியாகும் தமிழ் பத்திரிகை செய்தி ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டது. இதனால் அங்குள்ள இந்து அமைப்புகள் கடும் அதிருப்தியடைந்துள்ளன. இதுகுறித்து மலேசிய இந்து சங்க தலைவர் மோகன் ஷான் கூறியதாவது: இந்து மதத்தை அவமதிக்கும் வகையில் இந்த செயல் அமைந்துள்ளது. இதுபோன்ற செருப்புகள் இறக்குமதி செய்வதற்கு உடனடியாக தடை விதிக்க வேண்டும் என வர்த்தக அமைச்சகத்திடம் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளோம் என்றார். மலேசியாவில் உள்ள மகா மாரியம்மன் கோவிலின் தலைவர் நடராஜா கூறுகையில், "இந்து கடவுள் உருவம் பொறிக்கப்பட்ட செருப்புகள், உடனடியாக கடைகளில் இருந்து வாபஸ் பெறப்பட வேண்டும். இதற்கு அரசு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்" என்றார். |

தஞ்சை: தஞ்சை அருகே உள்ள புதுப்பட்டினத்தில் கோவில் வழிபாடு குறித்து இந்து - முஸ்லீம் சமூகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் மோதிக் கொண்டதால் அந்த பகுதியில் பதட்டம் நிலவி வருகின்றது.
தஞ்சை மாவட்டம், அதிராமபட்டினம் அருகே உள்ளது புதுப்பட்டினம் கிராமம். இங்கு இந்துக்களும், முஸ்லீம்களும் சம அளவில் வசித்து வருகின்றனர்.
இந்த கிராமத்தின் மையப் பகுதியில் இந்துக்கள் வழிபடுவதற்காக 400 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான சிவன்கோவில் உள்ளது. அதன் அருகிலேயே சுமார் 100 மீட்டர் தூரத்திற்குள் இஸ்லாமியர்கள் வழிபாடுத்தலமான பள்ளிவாசல் உள்ளது.
கடந்த சில மாதங்களாக கோவில் விவகாரம் தொடர்பாக இந்துக்களுக்கும், முஸ்லீம்களுக்கும் இடையே கருத்து வேறுபாடு நிலவி வருகின்றது.
இந்த நிலையில் இந்துக்கள் சிலர் அந்த பகுதியில் இந்து முன்னணி கூட்டம் நடத்தி கொடி ஏற்றினர். அது போலவே, இஸ்லாமியர்களும் இஸ்லாமிய அமைப்பு கூட்டம் நடத்தி கொடி ஏற்றினர்.
இதில் கடந்த மூன்று தினங்களுக்கு முன்பு இந்து முன்னணியின் கொடிக் கம்பத்தை மர்ம நபர்கள் சிலர் வெட்டி சாய்த்தனர். இது குறித்து இந்து அமைப்பைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் காவல் நிலையத்தில் புகார் செய்தனர்.
இதையடுத்து இந்துக்களுக்கும், முஸ்லீம்களுக்கும் இடையே சமாதான கூட்டம் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு இருந்தது. கூட்டம் முடிந்து வெளியே வந்த போது இந்துக்களை சிலர் தாக்கியதாகவும், வாகனங்களை சேதப்படுத்தியுதாகவும் கூறப்படுகின்றது.
இதில் படுகாயம் அடைந்த ரவி, ராஜ்குமார், சுப்பையன் ஆகியோர் பட்டுக்கோட்டை அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருகின்றனர். இதன் காரணமாக அந்த பகுதியில் இந்து முஸ்லீம் கலவரம் வெடித்துள்ளது. இதனைத் தடுக்க அந்த பகுதியில் பலத்த போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பு போடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

தஞ்சை மாவட்டம், அதிராமபட்டினம் அருகே உள்ளது புதுப்பட்டினம் கிராமம். இங்கு இந்துக்களும், முஸ்லீம்களும் சம அளவில் வசித்து வருகின்றனர்.
இந்த கிராமத்தின் மையப் பகுதியில் இந்துக்கள் வழிபடுவதற்காக 400 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான சிவன்கோவில் உள்ளது. அதன் அருகிலேயே சுமார் 100 மீட்டர் தூரத்திற்குள் இஸ்லாமியர்கள் வழிபாடுத்தலமான பள்ளிவாசல் உள்ளது.
கடந்த சில மாதங்களாக கோவில் விவகாரம் தொடர்பாக இந்துக்களுக்கும், முஸ்லீம்களுக்கும் இடையே கருத்து வேறுபாடு நிலவி வருகின்றது.
இந்த நிலையில் இந்துக்கள் சிலர் அந்த பகுதியில் இந்து முன்னணி கூட்டம் நடத்தி கொடி ஏற்றினர். அது போலவே, இஸ்லாமியர்களும் இஸ்லாமிய அமைப்பு கூட்டம் நடத்தி கொடி ஏற்றினர்.
இதில் கடந்த மூன்று தினங்களுக்கு முன்பு இந்து முன்னணியின் கொடிக் கம்பத்தை மர்ம நபர்கள் சிலர் வெட்டி சாய்த்தனர். இது குறித்து இந்து அமைப்பைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் காவல் நிலையத்தில் புகார் செய்தனர்.
இதையடுத்து இந்துக்களுக்கும், முஸ்லீம்களுக்கும் இடையே சமாதான கூட்டம் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு இருந்தது. கூட்டம் முடிந்து வெளியே வந்த போது இந்துக்களை சிலர் தாக்கியதாகவும், வாகனங்களை சேதப்படுத்தியுதாகவும் கூறப்படுகின்றது.
இதில் படுகாயம் அடைந்த ரவி, ராஜ்குமார், சுப்பையன் ஆகியோர் பட்டுக்கோட்டை அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருகின்றனர். இதன் காரணமாக அந்த பகுதியில் இந்து முஸ்லீம் கலவரம் வெடித்துள்ளது. இதனைத் தடுக்க அந்த பகுதியில் பலத்த போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பு போடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

It is an assembly hall of the sort found in any ordinary school. Boys aged 11 and upwards sit cross-legged on the floor in straight rows. They face the front of the room and listen carefully. But this is no ordinary assembly. Holding the children’s attention is a man in Islamic dress wearing a skullcap and stroking his long dark beard as he talks.
‘You’re not like the non-Muslims out there,’ the teacher says, gesturing towards the window. ‘All that evil you see in the streets, people not wearing the hijab properly, people smoking . . . you should hate it, you should hate walking down that street.’
He refers to the ‘non-Muslims’ as the ‘Kuffar’, an often derogatory term that means disbeliever or infidel.

Welcome to one of Britain’s most influential Islamic faith schools, one of at least 2,000 such schools in Britain, some full-time, others part-time. They represent a growing, parallel education system.
The school is the Darul Uloom Islamic High School in Birmingham, an oversubscribed independent secondary school. Darul Ulooms are world-renowned Islamic institutions and their aim is to produce the next generation of Muslim leaders. In fact, these schools have been described as the ‘Etons of Islam’.
This school is required by its inspectors to teach tolerance and respect for other faiths. But the Channel 4 current affairs programme Dispatches filmed secretly inside it – and instead discovered that Muslim children are being taught religious apartheid and social segregation.
We recorded a number of speakers giving deeply disturbing talks about Jews, Christians and atheists.
We found children as young as 11 learning that Hindus have ‘no intellect’ and that they ‘drink cow p***’.
And we came across pupils being told that the ‘disbelievers’ are ‘the worst creatures’ and that Muslims who adopt supposedly non-Muslim ways, such as shaving, dancing, listening to music and – in the case of women – removing their headscarves, would be tortured with a forked iron rod in the afterlife.
In 2009 this school was praised by Government-approved inspection teams for its interfaith teachings. The report said that ‘pupils learn about the beliefs and practices of other faiths and are taught to show respect to other world religions’.
It seems that the inspectors were unaware of the teaching methods revealed by our undercover reporter, Osman. He was taken on as a volunteer at the Darul Uloom school in Birmingham in April 2009 and was allowed to sit in on some lessons – but not their Islamic classes.

So, in July last year, he went into one of the rooms where we’d heard they taught Islamic studies and left a secret camera to record the lessons.
Filming intermittently over a period of four months, the camera recorded children being taught a hardline, intolerant and highly anti-social version of Islam.
During the same period our reporter also attended the Markazi Jamia mosque in Keighley, West Yorkshire, after hearing of serious allegations that children were being hit at its madrassa.
Madrassas in the UK are part-time after-school or weekend classes, often held in mosques, where children are taught to read the Koran. In Keighley it is not what they are being taught that is the problem, but how.
Again, Osman went into the mosque and left the camera in the room where classes took place.
The film shows children as young as six sitting on the floor of a large room in the mosque, one of the biggest in the country. The boys are hunched over wooden benches, rocking backwards and forwards as they rote-learn the Koran in Arabic. A man with a long white beard dressed in a traditional shalwar kameez – tunic and trousers – sits at the head of the class.
Periodically he gets up and walks behind the boys. As he passes, the children appear to cower and watch him nervously. It soon becomes clear why.
He unexpectedly raises his hand and slaps a young boy hard on the head. Moments later he strikes another. And then he kicks a third child.
In just two days of filming in December 2010, the camera recorded the teacher hitting children as young as six or seven at least ten times, in less than three hours of lessons.
From what we could see, every ¬single blow was pretty much unprovoked. We soon realised that the beatings were routine. The behaviour of the boys, the way they flinched and backed away when he approached, indicated that they were long-accustomed to being hit and kicked as they studied.
In another incident an older boy, left in charge of a class while a teacher is out at prayer, picks up a bench and threatens to hit a younger boy with it.
During the making of this Dispatches film I have often counted my blessings. I received my Islamic education at home. My mum would read the Koran with me and most of my knowledge of Islam came from within the family. Others have not been so lucky.
Osman was subjected to beatings at four separate madrassas in the East Midlands as a child. He says that for the nine years he spent going to after-school Koran classes, he was hit regularly, at least a couple of timesa week.
‘It destroyed my confidence,’ he says, ‘and the worst bit was never knowing when it was going to happen. I had a horrible teacher who would use his fists, a stick, a shoe, anything he could find. He’d just get angry and lash out.’

Osman’s young cousins go to the same madrassas he attended and told him the beatings were still continuing. This persuaded Osman to try to reveal the truth behind the private world of faith schools. Over a period of two years he bravely placed cameras in both schools and collected highly sensitive material for us. His experience of madrassas is not uncommon. But persuading people to go on camera about this has been difficult. One family who were willing to talk were too frightened to do so openly.
‘Salma’ and ‘Ayesha’ are a mother and daughter whose identities we are protecting. Ayesha is now sitting her A-levels but when she was seven she was beaten at her Koran classes. She says: ‘The teacher would sit there, tell me what to read, pronounce it to me – then if I said it wrong he would hit me on the hands with a ruler.’
Her younger brother, only five at the time, would be hit on his feet with a stick. They dreaded going to those classes but did not tell their mother. Salma eventually withdrew her children from attending madrassas for a completely different reason: she learned that they were being taught an intolerant version of Islam. ‘They were using terms like “Kaffir” just because somebody isn’t of the same religion,’ she says, ‘and I’m teaching my children to integrate and not be racist so I pulled my children out.’
Academic and theologian Dr Taj Hargey invited me to visit his part-time Islamic school in Oxford where children are taught in mixed-gender classes.
Here I witnessed a modern and refreshing method of teaching. Pupils were told to respect other faiths, ask questions about their religion and recite from the Koran in English as well as Arabic.
Dr Hargey told me he set up this school because of claims that Muslim parents had made to him about beatings in other madrassas. ‘It’s an outdated, archaic concept,’ he says, ‘and if we inflict this violence we will sow the seeds of violence in them.’
Sir Roger Singleton, former Government chief adviser on the safety of children, and Ann Cryer, former MP for Keighley, want the law to change to ban physical punishment in supplementary classes, as it does in full-time schools. ‘It just isn’t acceptable,’ says Cryer. ‘We wouldn’t allow this to happen to white kids going to Sunday schools.’

We approached the Darul Uloom Islamic High School in Birmingham with the findings of our film. It claimed that the senior student who gave the speech about Hindus was later reported by other students, and has been expelled, and that no teachers were present ‘during the incident’.
The school said that a speaker who made comments about Jews was ‘visiting’ and his views did not represent school policy. It denied that its religious instruction was hardline or extremist and said it did not tolerate hatred towards any faith group.
In a statement, the school said: ‘Our ethos is for students to be full and active participants of British society.’ It also said that it would study our evidence and take ‘disciplinary measures’ if required.
Regarding the Keighley madrassa, we were told that the Jamia Mosque committee was firm in its resolve to take whatever action was necessary to protect children being taught at the mosque and that it would give its full co-operation to any enquiries resulting from our film.
If the law on physical punishment does change, that would be one way to protect the very young that attend these classes. But these part-time and full-time Muslim schools also need closer scrutiny – the regulatory system needs to be tightened up.
However, we have a Government that, on the one hand, gives grand speeches about tackling the causes of extremism, as David Cameron did last week, while, on the other, encouraging local communities to set up their own schools – including faith schools. It’s time to stop these mixed messages.
And Muslims can no longer sweep this under the carpet – they need to face up to what is happening behind closed doors. Many warn that if we don’t all tackle this toxic mix of hatred and violence head on, we will reap the whirlwind in years to come.
