ஆர்க்குட்டில் பாகிஸ்தானி இந்துக்கள் சோகக்கதைகளை கொட்டுகிறார்கள்

கட்டாய மதமாற்றம், தொல்லைகள், அவமானம், அவமரியாதை, கொலை, கடத்தல், பாதுகாப்புக்கு ஜிஸியா, இந்துப் பெண்களை கடத்தி கட்டாய திருமணம் ஆகியவைகள் பாகிஸ்தானில் வாழும் இந்துக்களுக்கு தொடர்ந்து நடப்பதையும் அரசாங்கம் முஸ்லீம்களுக்கு ஆதரவாகவே இருப்பதையும், அதற்கேற்றாற்போல சட்டங்களும் இதனை ஊக்குவிப்பதையும் ஆர்க்குட் கம்யூனிட்டிகளில் பாகிஸ்தானி இந்துக்கள் புலம்புகிறார்கள்.

இவர்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக மனித உரிமைக்காவலர்கள் வரமாட்டார்கள். ஏனென்றால் இந்த இந்துக்கள் எந்த ஏர்போர்ட்டிலும் குண்டு வைப்பதில்லை, அப்பாவிகளை கொல்வதில்லை, வன்முறையை கையில் எடுப்பதில்லை.

அப்படி இவர்கள் வன்முறையை கையில் எடுத்தாலும், இவர்கள் மீது மனித உரிமைக்காவலர்களுக்கு பாசம் வராது. ஏனென்றால், இவர்கள்தான் இந்துக்களாயிற்றே!

Hindus in Pakistan are living under fear as besides being forced to accept Islam they are subjected to humiliation and dishonour. While rich Hindus have to pay monthly protection money, women from poor families are forced to marry Muslim men.

ALL THIS HAS been known to the world for long but a chance look at an orkut group— Hindus in Pakistan—enlightens about some real life experiences of Hindus living in different parts of Pakistan.



The members of this group are primarily the Hindus living in Pakistan, however, cutting across the borders and religions, Indian Hindus and even some Muslims from Pakistan are members of this group. What the members say points out the horrible experiences of the minority community in Pakistan, which claims that it treats all citizens equally.



Living in Karachi for past several generations, Gurdas, a Pakistani Hindu writes, “Namaste to all of you, I am going to tell you about injustice happened to one of my friends. A Muslim boy attempted to rape his wife, but police or our Hindu community panchayat did not take any action against this guy. Infact the panchayat forgave him.

My dear friends can anyone of us ever think about a Muslim girl like that? So what you people are doing? Really, life of a timid person is thousands times worse than a death of a brave person.”



In a similar vein, he writes, instead of taking action against those who perpetrate such crimes, the Hindus are being targeted even if they ask for due money from Muslims.

“Some days ago a case was registered against a Hindu person. The reason was that he sent his agent to collect the bill from a Muslim woman. The Muslims accused him to become a 'Karo'.



Here it must be mentioned that Hindus throughout Pakistan are subject to abductions and kidnapping. In Sindh, the minority community is a prized commodity for criminals as they are forced to cough up huge sums as protection money as well as ransoms.

Santosh Kumar, a rice trader from Larkana town in upper Sindh, and his two brothers were kidnapped in separate incidents in 2006. They were later released after paying a huge ransom. Another wealthy trader from the nearby city of Sukkur in Sindh, Sundeep Kumar, was kidnapped in 2005. Hindu women and children are also not spared and the locals allege that police inaction abets the crime against the minority.



An anonymous writer on orkut, who perhaps is the most vocal member writes, “Minorities always have problems in any country. Since in Pakistan Hindus are in minority do they have to face problems. Most of us live under fear and terror. Hindus from rich families have to pay bhatta (monthly protection money) and if one refuses to pay, his/her children are kidnapped. I remember a young girl was kidnapped just because she belonged to a rich Hindu family and may be her father refused to pay the bhatta. That all happens in the small towns of Sindh.



Not only the Pakistanis but Indian Hindus, who are the members of this group have posted their messages and those messages reflect the concern which the co-religionists share for each other, despite being separated by iron clad boundaries.



Amit Deo, a Hindu living in Boston, USA in a news report posted on orkut expressed, “Lahore: The dead body of a 70-year-old Hindu lady has been rotting in the mortuary of a government hospital in Lahore for last three days. No one is ready to take the responsibility of her cremation because of the absence of a shamshaan ghat in the Punjab capital, as opposed to 12 at the time of partition.”



Lamenting over the condition of Hindus in Pakistan, one of the members has posted, “Problems are there for the Hindus serving in government sectors. They do not have much authority in their hands and being seniors they cannot do as much as the juniors are authorized to do. But thank god our condition is not as bad as of Bangaladeshi Hindus. It is good that we live in Pakistan. To me, I love Pakistan really and would never like to migrate to India at any cost.”



Not only the terror groups and criminals are targeting the Hindus, government is also not far behind in the intimidation of Hindus. In a shocking attempt to make the remaining Hindu Balochs in Balochistan leave the province, a helicopter gunship of the Pakistan army fired rockets on a Hindu locality in the Bugti area of Balochistan on January 20, 2006.



The orkut group not only tells us about the problems being faced by the Hindus, but the messages posted there reveal a deep desire to live a normal life and freely celebrate the festivals like Holi and Diwali. This urge is manifested clearly when a member writes poignantly, “I want to see Hindus of Karachi celebrating the occasion of Deepawali in such a way so that it becomes memorable and so colourful that every colour of life is converged into one. Please extend your services to organize a grand gala and musical night to commemorate the special occasion of Deepawali. Waiting for positive proposals and services....Thanks.”

பாகிஸ்தானில் முன்பு 25 சதவீதம் இருந்த இந்துக்கள் பிரிவினையின்போது 15 சதவீதமாக குறைந்து தற்போது 2.7 சதவீதமே இருக்கிறார்கள்.

இவர்களுக்கு எதிராக அரசாங்க கெடுபிடிகள் அதிகரித்துள்ளன. வாக்காளர்கள் பட்டியலில்கூட இவர்களது பெயர்கள் இல்லாமல் குறைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன என்று பாகிஸ்தான் அமைப்பு ஒன்று தெரிவிக்கிறது.

Islamabad, July 1 (PTI): A watchdog body in Pakistan has alleged discrimination against religious minorities, including Hindus and Sikhs, in the registration of voters for the general elections due at the end of the year.

A monitoring report by the National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP), a non-governmental organisation working for minority rights, said the voter lists discriminates against the minorities in the country.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has displayed the voters lists across the country since June 12 to allow the citizens to check and correct their entries.

The monitoring of the list has shown discrimination against the religious minorities, which is likely to jeopardize their civil and political rights. Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Parsis have been combined in one list, whereas Ahmadis have been put in separate list, the NCJP said.

Jagjit Singh and his family are the only Sikhs in Tharparkar, the home of Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim, who have been registered to vote.

There are a total of 2.7 million Hindus living in Sindh with a Sikh minority. There are a total of 405,525 registered voters from district Tharparkar.

Tharparkar is supposed to be a Hindu stronghold. It has 163,316 Hindu voters, 122 Christian and 21 Qadiani voters, according to lists displayed by the Election Commission.

A number of Christian voters have complained of discrepancies alleging that their names were not registered though they submitted their registration forms.

Afzal Masih of Bahar Colony, Kot Lakhpat in Lahore, was quoted as saying by the Daily Times that he had submitted the forms of his family members, but to no avail.
