கூச் பெஹர்: மேற்குவங்க மாநிலத்தில் ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் நடத்திய பார்வர்டு பிளாக் கட்சியினர் மீது போலீசார் நடத்திய துப்பாக்கிச் சூட்டில் 4 பேர் பரிதாபமாக உயிரிழந்தனர்.

மேற்கு வங்கம், கூச் பிகார் மாவட்டத்தில் பார்வர்ட் பிளாக் கட்சியின் விவசாயப் பிரிவிவைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் ரேஷன் வசதி மற்றும் வேலை கோரி ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் நடத்தினர். இந்த ஆர்ப்பாட்டத்தில் ஏராளமானோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

இவர்களை கலைப்பதற்காக போலீசார் நடத்திய துப்பாக்கிச் சூட்டில் பார்வர்டு பிளாக் கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்த 4 பேர் பரிதாபமாக இறந்தனர். 8பேர் படுகாயம் அடைந்து மருத்துவமனைகளில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

இந்த சம்பவத்தால் அங்கு பரபரப்பு நிலவுகிறது.

துப்பாக்கிச் சூட்டைக் கண்டித்து நாளை பார்வர்ட் பிளாக் கட்சி 24 மணி நேர பந்த்துக்கு அழைப்பு விடுத்துள்ளது.

NANDIGRAM: A day after chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee addressed the Nandigram villagers, his partymen on Thursday thrashed an elderly couple at Southkhali village for refusing to join a CPM rally. The couple — sympathisers of Bhumi Uchchhed Pratirodh Committee — had to be hospitalised.

However, CPM's Nandigram zonal committee secretary Ashok Bera said it was an "isolated and minor" incident. Asking his partymen not to treat Opposition members as enemies, Bera said, "We are trying to convince our supporters. But BUPC members are also creating trouble in many places. Opposition has a responsibility, too."

Thursday's incident pointed to the volatile nature of the situation at 'ground zero'. Said Ashok Munian, a BUPC member from Maheshpur village, "The CM is talking peace. But it must be translated at the ground level. We are still being threatened and assaulted by CPM cadres. How can peace return if such things continue?"

Meanwhile, cops and CRPF are carrying out raids to track arms and ammunition. "Fearing raids, people are dumping weapons in canals, bushes and then informing us," a senior police officer said.

மேதா பட்கர் மற்றவர்களை எதிர்த்தால் நல்லவர். எங்களை எதிர்த்தால் கெட்டவர் என்று சிபிஎம் கட்சி கூறியுள்ளது. அதே நேரத்தில் அவர் மீது சிபிஎம் குண்டர்கள் தாக்கியதை தவறு என்றும் கண்டித்துள்ளது.

மற்ற மாநில முன்னேற்றங்களை தடுத்தால் அவர் ரொம்ப நல்லவர். மேற்குவங்கத்தில் அதே வேலையை செய்தால் கெட்டவர் என்று கூறியிருக்கிறது.

CPI(M) says Medha 'partisan', condemns assault on her

KOLKATA: The CPI-M on Thursday condemned the assault on social activist Medha Patkar near Nandigram, but dubbed her as 'partisan' as she had not stood by 'many people' there.

"She (Patkar) is known for her commendable work in social welfare, but in Nandigram, she is rather partisan," CPI-M central committee member Shyamal Chakraborty said.

Chakraborty alleged that Medha was not neutral 'as she had not stood by many people of Nandigram who were in relief camps after being attacked by the Trinamool Congress activists and maoists'.

The CPI(M) leader said that his party activists had to enter villages in Nadigram area 'by using force' to counter attacks by the Trinamool Congress and the Maoists.

Medha Patkar physically assaulted on way to Nandigram

NANDIGRAM: Social activist Medha Patkar was on Thursday assaulted allegedly by CPI(M) activists at Kapaseberia in East Midnapore district while on her way to strife-torn Nandigram.

"There were CPI(M) men carrying red flags who blocked my car and some other vehicles which were going along with mine to Nandigram. I was hit on the face and they tried to pull my hair and was about to drag me out of the car," Patkar said over phone from the spot.

Patkar said she and her associates squatted on the road in protest against the attack.

Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), West Bengal, Raj Kanojia said in Kolkata that one of the vehicles in Patkar's convoy was damaged.
