Hindus show concern over increasing robberies in Sindh

KARACHI: Office bearers and members of the Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) expressed concerns over the rising number of robberies in the province involving the Hindus of northern Sindh and demanded that the federal government take measures to prevent such incidents and protect minorities.
“The law and order situation in Sindh has worsened to the extent that dacoits and robbers have established strongholds in the province and are making life difficult for common citizens,” said former Sindh MPA Dr Ramesh Lal.
A large number of Hindus took part in a protest at the Karachi Press Club against the recent robbery in Jacobabad where armed men entered a Hindu temple and robbed some 350 Hindu women of cash and jewelry worth millions of rupees.
Talking to Daily Times at the Karachi Press Club, Lal said that the police and other law enforcement agencies had failed to provide security to the citizens. “The dacoits have robbed valuables worth approximately Rs 70 million and after the recent incident in Jacobabad, members of the minority communities, especially women, are even afraid to go their religious places. Therefore, we demand that the government immediately arrest the dacoits and ensure safety measures for minorities,” said PHC Secretary General Hari Motwani, adding that the incident took place in broad daylight and yet the police were unable to prevent it.
“The robberies, coupled with the kidnappings of Hindus in the northern districts of Sindh, have created panic and insecurity amongst the minorities,” said PHC President Raja Assermal Manglani, adding that the government needed to ease their fears.

KARACHI: The Hindus of the city are struggling to take complete control of the located historical Manora Island temple dedicated to Hindu god Varun Rai. They want to acquire rights to 11,000 square feet that the temple is built on, instead of the 2,500 square feet that the Pakistan government recently handed over.
“We have repeatedly requested the federal and provincial governments to hand over the complete temple area to the Hindus so that they can renovate and reconstruct this historical temple and perform their routine religious ceremonies, but despite our continuous requests, we have received only a quarter of the total area,” said former minority MPA Sindh Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani.
Vankwani said that the temple is about three centuries old. It was last renovated by the British government in 1930 and till a few years back, about a dozen statues of god Varun Rai, Shiva Ling and other statues of different gods and goddesses were kept there. Some are still present. The official records of the British government confirm the lease and the area of the temple. “We have official copies of the record which says that the temple had a total area of 11,000 square feet,” said Vankwani. Quoting it, he said according to the official letter (DD-Government 1183/2/P4/172/1942, dated February 2, 1943) registered in the official book of the Government Land Record (GLR) Volume 1, the British government leased an area of about 11,000 square feet for the temple.
Manora is an island spread over 2.5 square kilometers on the southern side of the Karachi port and is connected to the Sandspit area by a 12-km long walkway, where this historical temple is located and till a few years ago, about 5,000 Hindus were living near it. But recently they were forced to leave the place and thus the population on island has dropped by half.
“In 1973, the Pakistan Navy took the control of the area by force and Hindus were restrained from visiting this temple, but when we approached the government, 2,500 square feet of the temple were returned to the Hindus and we have decided to renovate the temple, for which the community collected about Rs 7 million but recently, we were directed to stop construction and thus the boundary wall has not yet been built,” said Vankwani.
The members of the Hindu community collected donations to provide potable water, electricity and other utilities. “We are grateful to the government for giving us the main building, but for the religious ceremonies and to park vehicles, we need more space and also we request the government to provide sufficient funds for the renovation of the temple,” said Hindu leader Hari Motwani. Quoting a historical book by Sindhi author Lok Ram Dodija, Motwani said that in the early 1920s, hundreds of Hindus, men and women, gathered every Wednesday for routine worship. “We demand that the government provide security and facilities to the temple so that community members may visit this historical temple regularly,” said Motwani.

It occurred hours before President George W. Bush was to receive Pakistan's prime minister at the White House amid mounting American and international pressure on Islamabad to act against Taliban and Al Qaeda strongholds in its territory.
State-run Pakistan Television said the missiles hit Azam Warsak, a village in the South Waziristan region. It said six people were killed and several others wounded. PTV did not identify the source of its information or provide any other details.
Two Pakistani intelligence officials said the missiles hit an Islamic school in the village.

One of the officials, who is based in Tank, a town near South Waziristan, said initial reports indicated the six dead consisted of three children and three adults. He said militants, including foreigners, were active in the area, but he did not know if they had been in the school at the time.
Both officials asked for anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said it could not comment because the incident was not confirmed.
Pakistan's border regions have been hit by a series of missile strikes, apparently carried out by U.S. warplanes. One killed a senior Al Qaeda leader in the North Waziristan region in January.
The incidents have strained relations with Washington, particularly since a new Pakistani government took power nearly four months ago and sidelined President Pervez Musharraf, a U.S. ally.
The government is seeking peace agreements in its mountainous border region in an attempt to curb Islamic extremists blamed for a wave of bloody suicide attacks across Pakistan last year.

BAGHDAD (AP) — Female suicide bombers struck a Shiite pilgrimage in Baghdad and a Kurdish protest rally in northern Iraq on Monday, killing at least 57 people and wounding nearly 300, police said.
Three women detonated their explosive vests in the middle of pilgrims in Baghdad, moments after a roadside bomb attack, killing at least 32 people and wounding 102, Iraqi officials said.
In the oil-rich northern city of Kirkuk, 25 people were killed and 185 wounded when a blast tore through a crowd of Kurds protesting a draft provincial elections law, officials said.
Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Burhan Tayeb Taha said the bomber was a woman, saying he had seen the remains. The U.S. military confirmed a suicide bombing but said it had no indication the attacker was a woman.
Authorities clamped a 3 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew on the city, which is home to Kurds, Turkomen, Arabs and smaller groups.
The bombings — among the deadliest this year — were a devastating blow to the Iraqi public's growing confidence in recent security gains that have seen violence in Iraq drop to its lowest levels in more than four years.
Such attacks are increasingly carried out by women, who are more easily able to hide explosives under their all-encompassing black Islamic robes, or abayas, and often are not searched at checkpoints.
In a bid to improve the ability to search women, the U.S. military has stepped up recruitment and training efforts for women in the police force and as members of U.S.-allied Sunni groups that have joined forces against al-Qaida in Iraq.
Iraqi security forces deployed about 200 women this week to search female pilgrims near the northern Baghdad neighborhood of Kazimiyah, where the Shiite saint Imam Moussa al-Kadhim is buried in a golden domed shrine.
A senior U.S. military official blamed al-Qaida in Iraq for the attacks in Baghdad. The attacks come ahead of U.S. and Iraqi military operations in early August aimed at routing out insurgents from rural hideouts in northern Iraq and solidify recent security gains in urban areas.
"At about 8 a.m. three female suicide bombers detonated themselves among pilgrims heading to Kazimiyah," the main Iraqi military spokesman in Baghdad, Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, said in a statement posted on his Web site.
The pilgrims are marking the death of an eighth-century saint. The attacks took place in the mainly Shiite Karradah district, which is several miles away from the destination of the pilgrimage in Kazimiyah in northern Baghdad. Most of the dead were women and children, police and health officials said.
"I heard women and children crying and shouting and I saw burned women as dead bodies lied in pools of blood on the street," Mustapha Abdullah, a 32-year-old man who was injured in the stomach and legs, said from the hospital where he was being treated.
It was the deadliest attack in Baghdad since June 17, when a truck bombing killed 63 people in Hurriyah, a neighborhood that saw some of the worst Shiite-Sunni slaughter in 2006.
In Kirkuk, the suicide bomber targeted Kurdish demonstrators who were protesting a provincial elections measure blocked in parliament because of disagreement over a power-sharing formula in the disputed city of Kirkuk, an oil-rich area.
Maj. Gen. Jamal Tahir, a Kirkuk police spokesman, said police found a car bomb nearby and detonated it safely.
After the explosion, dozens of angry Kurds opened fire on the offices of a Turkomen political party, which opposes Kurdish claims on Kirkuk.
A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said no one was hurt in the attack and that the party offices were placed under police protection.
Since the 2003 ouster of Saddam Hussein, who was a Sunni, Shiite political parties have encouraged huge turnouts at religious festivals to display the majority sect's power in Iraq. Sunni religious extremists have often targeted the gatherings to foment sectarian war, but that has not stopped the Shiites.
In 2005, at least 1,000 people also were killed in a bridge stampede caused by rumors of a suicide bomber in Baghdad during the Kazimiyah pilgrimage.

நெல்லை: மேலும் ஒரு தீவிரவாதி கைது!

நெல்லை: தமிழகத்தில் ஆகஸ்ட் 15ம் தேதி தொடர் குண்டுவெடிப்பு பயங்கரங்களை நடத்தத் திட்டமிட்டிருந்த லஷ்கர் இ தொய்பா இயக்க ஆதரவாளரான முகமது அன்வர் பாதுஷா (35) இன்று காலை கைது செய்யப்பட்டார்.
டிஐஜி கண்ணப்பன் உத்தரவின் பேரில் நெல்லை கமிஷனர் மஞ்சுநாதா தலைமையிலான போலீசார் இன்று காலை அன்வரின் வீட்டைச் சுற்றி வளைத்துப் பிடித்தனர். அவரிடமிருந்து தீவிரவாத இயக்கங்கள் தமிழகத்தில் நடத்தவிருந்த பயங்கர சதி வேலைக்கான ஆதாரங்கள் சிக்கியுள்ளன. இன்னும் சிறிது நேரத்தில் அவர் நெல்லை கோர்ட்டில் ஆஜர்படுத்தப்படுகிறார்.
நேற்று இரவு கைது செய்யப்பட்ட அப்துல் கபூர் கொடுத்திருந்த தகவல்களின் அடிப்படையில் அன்வர் பாதுஷாவை சுற்றி வளைத்தனர். கபூரிடம் இருந்த வரைபடங்கள், சதி வேலைத் திட்டங்களின் நகல்கள் அன்வர் பாதுஷாவிடமும் இருந்துள்ளது. இவர்களின் கூட்டாளிகள் மேலும் 16 பேர் தப்பிவிட்டனர். அவர்களையும் வலைவீசித் தேடி வருகின்றனர் போலீசார்.
அன்வரை விசாரிக்க சென்னையிலிருந்து கூடுதல் டிஜிபி நடராஜன் நெல்லைக்கு விரைந்துள்ளார். இன்று பகல் 1 மணி வாக்கில் செய்தியாளர்களைச் சந்திக்கும் கூடுதல் டிஜிபி மற்றும் டிஐஜி ஆகியோர் நிலைமையை விளக்குகின்றனர்.
மத்திய உளவுப் பிரிவுப் போலீசாரின் எச்சரிக்கை கிடைத்த 12 மணி நேரத்துக்குள் இரு தீவிரவாதிகளையும் அவர்களது பயங்கர திட்டங்களையும் கண்டுபிடித்து தமிழக போலீஸ் சாதனைப் படைத்திருக்கிறது.

துருக்கியில் உள்ள இஸ்தான்புல் நகரில் நிகழ்ந்த குண்டு வெடிப்பில் 15 பேர் பலியாயினர்; 140 பேர் காயமடைந்தனர்.
இஸ்தான்புல் நகரில் உள்ள குங்கோரன் என்ற மாவட்டத்தில் இந்த குண்டு வெடிப்பு நிகழ்ந்தது.
குண்டுவெடிப்பு நிகழ்ந்த இடம் வணிகவளாகம் என்பதால், அங்கு நின்று கொண்டிருந்தவர்கள் அலறியடித்தபடி வெளியே ஓடிவந்தனர்.
குப்பைத் தொட்டி ஒன்றில் மறைத்து வைத்து இந்த குண்டு வெடிக்கச் செய்யப்பட்டதாக போலீஸார் தெரிவித்தனர்.குண்டு வெடிப்பில் காயமடைந்தவர்கள் உடனடியாக மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டனர்.
இந்த குண்டுவெடிப்புக்கு இதுவரை எந்த ஒரு தீவிரவாத இயக்கமும் பொறுப்பேற்கவில்லை.

இந்த குண்டுவெடிப்புக்கு இதுவரை எந்த ஒரு தீவிரவாத இயக்கமும் பொறுப்பேற்கவில்லை.

பெங்களூரில் நேற்று பகலில் 7 வெடிகுண்டுகள் அடுத்தடுத்து வெடித்த சம்பவம் நாட்டையே மீண் டும் ஒருமுறை அதிர்ச்சிக் குள்ளாக்கியுள்ளது.
இந்தியாவில் இது போன்ற வெடிகுண்டு சம்பவங்களில் ஏராளமா னோர் உயிரை பறிகொடுத் துள்ளனர்.
கடந்த 2003-ம் ஆண்டில் மும்பை ரெயிலில் வெடி குண்டு வெடித்து சிதறியதில் 11 பேர் பலியானார்கள்.
அதே ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்டு 25-ந்தேதி மும்பையில் காரில் வெடி குண்டு வெடித்ததில் 60 பேர் பரிதாபமாக உயிரிழந் தனர்.
2004-ம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்டு 15-ந்தேதி குண்டு வெடித்ததில் குழந்தைகள் உள்பட 14 பேர் தங்க ளுடைய இன்னுயிரை பறிகொடுத்தனர்.
2005-ம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 29-ந்தேதி புதுடெல்லியில் 3 இடங் களில் குண்டு வெடித்ததில் 66 பேர் பலியானார்கள்.
2006-ம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 7-ந்தேதி வாரணாசியில் 15 பேர் உயிரிழந்தனர். 60 பேர் படுகாயம் அடைந்தனர்.
2006-ம் ஆண்டு ஜுலை 11-ந்தேதி மும்பையில் ரெயில் நிலையங்களில் வெடிகுண்டு அடுத்தடுத்து வெடித்ததில் 180 பேர் ரத்த வெள்ளத்தில் உயிரை பறிகொடுத்தனர்.
அதே ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் 8-ந்தேதி மும்பை மலேகான் பகுதியில் மசூதி அருகே குண்டு வெடித்ததில் 32 பேர் உயிரிழக்க நேரிட் டது.
2007-ம் ஆண்டு பிப்ரவரி 19-ந்தேதி இந்தியாவில் இருந்து பாகிஸ்தான் சென்ற ரெயிலில் குண்டு வெடித்து 66 பயணிகள் பரிதாபமாக பலியானார்கள்.
அதே ஆண்டு மே 18-ந்தேதி ஹைதரபாத்தில் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை தொழு கையின்போது குண்டு வெடித்ததில் 11 பேர் உயிரிழந்தனர்.
அதே ஆண்டில் ஆகஸ்டு 25-ந்தேதி ஹைதராபாத் பூங்காவில் வெடிகுண்டு வெடித்து 40 பேர் பலியான சோக சம்பவம் நிகழ்ந்தது.
கடந்த மே மாதம் 13-ந்தேதி ஜெய்ப்பூரில் சக்தி வாய்ந்த 7 வெடிகுண்டுகள் வெடித்து சிதறின.இதில் 63 பேர் பலியானார்கள்.
கடந்த ஜுலை 25-ந்தேதி பெங்களூரில் வெடிகுண்டு வெடித்ததில் 2 பேர் உயிரிழந்தனர். 20 பேர் காயமடைந்தனர்.
தற்போது மீண்டும் வெடிகுண்டு சம்பவம் அரங்கேறியுள்ளது.

சுதந்திர தினமான ஆகஸ்டு 15-ந்தேதி சென்னை, நெல்லையை தகர்க்க சதித் திட்டம் தீட்டிய தீவிரவாதி நெல்லையில் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார்.

பெங்களூர், ஆமதாபாத் குண்டு வெடிப்பு சம்பவங்களை தொடர்ந்து நாடு முழுவதும் போலீசார் உஷார்படுத்தப்பட்டனர்.
தீவிரவாதி கைது
தமிழ்நாட்டில் முக்கிய பகுதிகளில் போலீசார் பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளை தீவிரப்படுத்தும்படி முதல்-அமைச்சர் கருணாநிதி உத்தரவிட்டார். அதைத் தொடர்ந்து, தமிழகம் முழுவதும் தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு எதிரான தேடுதல் வேட்டை முடுக்கி விடப்பட்டது.
நெல்லையை அடுத்த பேட்டையில் போலீசார் நேற்று நடத்திய சோதனையில் பயங்கர தீவிரவாதி ஒருவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். அவரது பெயர், அப்துல் கபூர்.
சுதந்திர தினத்தன்று குண்டு வைக்க
39 வயதான இவர், வருகிற சுதந்திர தினமான ஆகஸ்டு 15-ந்தேதி அன்று சென்னை மற்றும் நெல்லையில் வெடிகுண்டுகளை வைக்க சதித்திட்டம் தீட்டிய கும்பலில் முக்கியமானவர் என்பது தெரிய வந்தது.
அவரிடம் இருந்து, குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்தில் வெடிக்கக்கூடிய வெடிகுண்டு உதிரி பொருட்கள் கைப்பற்றப்பட்டன. இவரை கைது செய்ததன் மூலம் தீவிரவாதிகளின் மிகப்பெரிய நாச வேலையை போலீசார் முறியடித்தனர்.

அப்துல் கபூர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டது குறித்து தமிழக போலீஸ் டி.ஜி.பி. அலுவலகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கையில் கூறப்பட்டு உள்ளதாவது:-

பெங்களூர் மற்றும் ஆமதாபாத்தில் நடைபெற்ற தொடர் குண்டு வெடிப்பு சம்பவங்களை தொடர்ந்து, தமிழகத்தில் தீவிரவாத செயல்கள் எதுவும் நடைபெறாமல் தடுக்க, அனைத்து நடவடிக்கைகளையும் மேற்கொள்ளும்படி முதல்-அமைச்சர் ஆணையிட்டதன்பேரில், தமிழக காவல் துறை முடுக்கிவிடப்பட்டது.
திருநெல்வேலி, பேட்டையை சேர்ந்த அப்துல் கபூர், வயது 39, (சேவுகானின் மகன்) என்பவர், வெடிகுண்டுகளை இயக்கும் டைமர் கருவிகளை திருநெல்வேலியில் தயாரித்து, சென்னைக்கு கொண்டு வர இருக்கிறார் என்ற தகவலின் அடிப்படையில் நெல்லை காவல் துறையினர் உஷார்படுத்தப்பட்டனர்.

காவல் துறையினர் நெல்லை பேட்டையில் மக்தூம் பள்ளிவாசல் தெருவில் உள்ள அப்துல் கபூர் தங்கி இருக்கும் வீட்டை 27-ந்தேதி (நேற்று) சோதனையிட்டபோது வெடிகுண்டுக்கான `கிளாக் மெக்கானிசம்', மின்சுற்றுக்கான மாதிரி வரைபடம், பேட்டரி செல்கள், இரண்டு பிளாஸ்டிக் கொள்கலன்கள் உள்பட 21 உபகரணங்களை கைப்பற்றி, அப்துல்கபூரை கைது செய்தனர். அவருடன் இதில் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட கூட்டாளிகள் குறித்து போலீசார் தீவிர விசாரணை நடத்தி வருகிறார்கள்.
இவ்வாறு அந்த அறிக்கையில் கூறப்பட்டு உள்ளது.
சென்னையில் வேலை செய்தவர்
போலீசார் நடத்திய விசாரணையில், சென்னையில் உள்ள ஒரு கடையில் அப்துல்கபூர் வேலை செய்ததாகவும் சமீபத்தில்தான் நெல்லைக்கு திரும்பியதாகவும் தெரிய வந்தது. இஸ்லாமிய அமைப்பு ஒன்றில் பொறுப்பு வகித்து வந்த அப்துல் கபூர் சமீபத்தில் அந்த பொறுப்பில் இருந்து விலகிய தகவலும் தெரிய வந்துள்ளது.
போலீசார் அவரிடம் தொடர்ந்து விசாரணை நடத்தி வருகிறார்கள்.

தீவிரவாதி கைது
தமிழ்நாட்டில் முக்கிய பகுதிகளில் போலீசார் பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளை தீவிரப்படுத்தும்படி முதல்-அமைச்சர் கருணாநிதி உத்தரவிட்டார். அதைத் தொடர்ந்து, தமிழகம் முழுவதும் தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு எதிரான தேடுதல் வேட்டை முடுக்கி விடப்பட்டது.
நெல்லையை அடுத்த பேட்டையில் போலீசார் நேற்று நடத்திய சோதனையில் பயங்கர தீவிரவாதி ஒருவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். அவரது பெயர், அப்துல் கபூர்.
சுதந்திர தினத்தன்று குண்டு வைக்க
39 வயதான இவர், வருகிற சுதந்திர தினமான ஆகஸ்டு 15-ந்தேதி அன்று சென்னை மற்றும் நெல்லையில் வெடிகுண்டுகளை வைக்க சதித்திட்டம் தீட்டிய கும்பலில் முக்கியமானவர் என்பது தெரிய வந்தது.
அவரிடம் இருந்து, குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்தில் வெடிக்கக்கூடிய வெடிகுண்டு உதிரி பொருட்கள் கைப்பற்றப்பட்டன. இவரை கைது செய்ததன் மூலம் தீவிரவாதிகளின் மிகப்பெரிய நாச வேலையை போலீசார் முறியடித்தனர்.

பெங்களூர் மற்றும் ஆமதாபாத்தில் நடைபெற்ற தொடர் குண்டு வெடிப்பு சம்பவங்களை தொடர்ந்து, தமிழகத்தில் தீவிரவாத செயல்கள் எதுவும் நடைபெறாமல் தடுக்க, அனைத்து நடவடிக்கைகளையும் மேற்கொள்ளும்படி முதல்-அமைச்சர் ஆணையிட்டதன்பேரில், தமிழக காவல் துறை முடுக்கிவிடப்பட்டது.
திருநெல்வேலி, பேட்டையை சேர்ந்த அப்துல் கபூர், வயது 39, (சேவுகானின் மகன்) என்பவர், வெடிகுண்டுகளை இயக்கும் டைமர் கருவிகளை திருநெல்வேலியில் தயாரித்து, சென்னைக்கு கொண்டு வர இருக்கிறார் என்ற தகவலின் அடிப்படையில் நெல்லை காவல் துறையினர் உஷார்படுத்தப்பட்டனர்.
வெடிகுண்டு பொருட்கள்

பெங்களூரு: பெங்களூரு, அகமதாபாத் தொடர் குண்டு வெடிப்புச் சம்பவங்களை நிகழ்த்திய தீவிரவாதிகளின் அடுத்த குறி கேரளாவாக இருக்கக் கூடும் என கர்நாடக டிஜிபி ஸ்ரீகுமார் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
சென்னப்பட்னா குண்டு வெடிப்பைக் கண்டுபிடித்த பிறகு தனக்கு ஒரு மர்ம நபர் போன் செய்ததாகவும், அதில் பெங்களூரு குண்டு வெடிப்புக்குப் பிறகு தங்களின் குறி கேரளாதான் எனத் தெரிவித்தாகவும் கூறியுள்ளார்.
போன் வந்த நம்பரை தங்களால் கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியவில்லை என்றும், இதனால் தன்னிடம் இத் தகவலைக் கூறியவர் யார் என்பதைத் தெரிந்து கொள்ள முடியவில்லை என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.
இதைத் தொடர்ந்து கேரளா மற்றும் தமிழக போலீசாருக்கு எச்சரிக்கைக் குறிப்புகளை தான் அனுப்பியுள்ளதாகவும் ஸ்ரீகுமார் தெரிவித்தார்.

பெங்களூரில் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை நடந்த தொடர் குண்டுவெடிப்பு சம்பவத்துக்கு வியாழக்கிழமையன்றே சென்னப்பட்னாவில் நன்கு ஒத்திகை பார்க்கப்பட்டுள்ள அதிர்ச்சி விவரம் இன்றுதான் தெரிய வந்துள்ளது.
பெங்களூருலிருந்து 70 கிமீ தொலைவில் உள்ள சென்னப்பட்னா என்ற நகரில் வியாழக்கிழமை மாலையிலேயே குண்டுகள் வெடிக்க வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஆனால் இப்பகுதிகளில் கிணறுகளுக்கு வெடி வைப்பது முக்கியத் தொழில் என்பதால் போலீசார் கண்டு கொள்ளாமல் விட்டிருக்கின்றனர்.
பெங்களூர் குண்டு வெடிப்புக்குப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட அமோனியம் நைட்ரேட் மற்றும் ஜெலட்டின் குச்சிகளை சென்னப்பட்னாவிலிருந்து கொண்டு சென்றிருக்கக் கூடும் என்று போலீசாருக்கு சந்தேகம் இருந்தது. எனவே இன்று மாலை சென்னப்பட்னா முழுவதிலும் சோதனை நடத்தப்பட்டது.
இந்தச் சோதனையின் போதுதான், சென்னப்பட்னாவுக்கு வெளியில் இரு குண்டுகள் வெடித்திருப்பதைக் கண்டுபிடித்தனர் போலீசார். பெங்களூரு குண்டு வெடிப்பில் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட குண்டுகள் மற்றும் ஜெலட்டின் குச்சிகளைப் போன்ற வெடிப்பொருட்கள்தான் இங்கும் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன.
இதைத் தொடர்ந்து தீவிரவாதிகள் சென்னப்பட்னாவில் பதுங்கியிருந்து பெங்களூரு ஆபரேஷனை நடத்தியிருப்பது தெளிவாகியுள்ளாத கர்நாடக டிஜிபி தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

The bomb was kept under a 'chowki' (wooden bed) near a fruit stall on the entrance of the bus stand. Of the seven injured, five were passengers while the rest bus staffers. The injured have been admitted to hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, a loud sound was heard and soon smoke enveloped the entire area. Incidentally, the bus stand is located in front of the DSP's residence as also the local police station.

New Delhi (PTI): The serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad may be another addition to the unsolved cases pending with central security agencies which have not been able to crack even one of them since the Diwali-eve explosions in October 2005.
The serial blasts in the national capital on the eve of Diwali, that claimed over 60 lives, was the first of the unsolved cases with central security agencies.
Claims by the Delhi Police about some arrests in this case had come under cloud as Tariq Dar arrested in connection with the case accused the police of framing him.
This explosion was followed by blasts outside Sankat Mochan Temple in Varanasi in March 2006 followed by the 11/7 serial train blasts in Mumbai that left nearly 200 people dead.
The Anti-terrorist Squad picked up nearly a dozen people from various states in this connection but neither the actual perpetrators nor conspirators could be brought before the law.
The year 2006 wound up with another blast at Malegaon in Maharashtra that left 30 people dead. The police rounded up some locals and filed a chargesheet but the same was put on hold after locals demanded a fresh investigations by the CBI.
The CBI was also probing the twin blast case in Hyderabad that took place in August last year but did not make any headway.

An activist of the banned SIMI who was wanted in the 2002 Gujarat riots was arrested on Sunday from the walled city area of Delhi after a combing operation for his alleged connections to the Ahmedabad blasts.
Police arrested Abdul Halim who went into hiding after the Gujarat riots and remained untraceable so far.
"There were reports that he was in hiding in Delhi and we had intimidated Delhi Police as well. After receiving some specific inputs about his whereabouts, the crime branch arrested him during a combing operation," Ahmedabad Joint Commissioner of Police Ashish Bhatia said.
Bhatia said Halim was arrested in connection with Saturday's blasts in Ahmedabad that claimed 45 lives.
Halim was wanted by the cops for enticing disgruntled youths from the riot victims' refugee camps in and around Ahmedabad and taking them to Uttar Pradesh.
"From there an organised network was engaged in sending these youths across the border for training purpose and Halim was a part of this network. Currently he is being interrogated," said Bhatia.

The death toll from yesterday's wave of bombings in the Indian city of Ahmedabad has risen to 45, a government official said today.
Jaynarayan Vyas said 161 people were injured when 16 separate small bombs went off in several parts of the city, which has a history of violent clashes between the Hindu majority and Muslim minority. He also said that 30 people had been arrested in connection with the explosions, which came a day after seven synchronised explosions rocked the southern city of Bangalore, the hub of India's burgeoning information technology industry, killing two and wounding five others.
Yesterday's attacks in Ahmedabad happened in two waves early in the evening local time. Some of the devices were hidden in lunchboxes or bicycles. The first series exploded near busy market places. The second, about 20 minutes later, went off in and around a hospital where casualties were being taken. At least six people died there.
'We saw a blue bag near the trauma centre, and before we could react we saw it explode in a shine of blinding light, and some 40 people were hit by flying shrapnel,' said Vipul Patil, a doctor at the Dhanwantari hospital.
The side of a bus was blown off and its windows shattered while another vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Prithviraj Chavan, a junior in the prime minister's office, called yesterday's bombings "deplorable" and said they were set off by people "bent upon creating a communal divide in the country". That is the sort of language officials tend to use when blaming Islamic militants suspected of being behind a series of coordinated bomb attacks across the country in recent years. Targets have included mosques, Hindu temples and trains.
'Anti-national elements have been trying to create panic among the people of our country. [The] blasts in Ahmadebad seem to be part of the same strategy,' the federal home minister, Shivraj Patil, said.
Several television stations said they had received an email claiming responsibility from a group called the Indian Mujahideen at the time of yesterday's blasts. Tension between Hindus and Muslims is acute in Gujarat, a relatively wealthy state. It was the scene of riots in 2002 that left about 2,500 people dead. They were triggered by a fire on a train packed with Hindu pilgrims that killed 60 passengers. The death toll from yesterday's wave of bombings in the Indian city of Ahmedabad has risen to 45, a government official said today.
Jaynarayan Vyas said 161 people were injured when 16 separate small bombs went off in several parts of the city, which has a history of violent clashes between the Hindu majority and Muslim minority. He also said that 30 people had been arrested in connection with the explosions, which came a day after seven synchronised explosions rocked the southern city of Bangalore, the hub of India's burgeoning information technology industry, killing two and wounding five others.
Yesterday's attacks in Ahmedabad happened in two waves early in the evening local time. Some of the devices were hidden in lunchboxes or bicycles. The first series exploded near busy market places. The second, about 20 minutes later, went off in and around a hospital where casualties were being taken. At least six people died there.
'We saw a blue bag near the trauma centre, and before we could react we saw it explode in a shine of blinding light, and some 40 people were hit by flying shrapnel,' said Vipul Patil, a doctor at the Dhanwantari hospital.
The side of a bus was blown off and its windows shattered while another vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Prithviraj Chavan, a junior in the prime minister's office, called yesterday's bombings "deplorable" and said they were set off by people "bent upon creating a communal divide in the country". That is the sort of language officials tend to use when blaming Islamic militants suspected of being behind a series of coordinated bomb attacks across the country in recent years. Targets have included mosques, Hindu temples and trains.
'Anti-national elements have been trying to create panic among the people of our country. [The] blasts in Ahmadebad seem to be part of the same strategy,' the federal home minister, Shivraj Patil, said.
Several television stations said they had received an email claiming responsibility from a group called the Indian Mujahideen at the time of yesterday's blasts. The same group said it was behind bombs in Jaipur, western India, in May that killed more than 60 people. The email made no mention of Friday's bombings in Bangalore, according to reports.

Karachi, July 27: The Hindu community in Pakistan has expressed concerns at the increase in incidents targeting the life and properties, including places of worship, of the Hindus in the Islamic nation.
The Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC), a representative body of the minority community in the country, expressed concerns over Hindus being target of rising number of robberies in Sindh province.
The Council demanded that the federal Government in Islamabad take immediate measures to prevent such incidents and protect the minority community in the country.
Large number of Hindus took part in a protest in Karachi against the recent robbery in Jacobabad where armed men entered a Hindu temple and robbed some 350 Hindu women of cash and jewelry worth millions of rupees.
Former Sindh lawmaker Dr Ramesh Lal accused the the police and other law enforcement agencies of having failed to provide security to the citizens, particularly the minorities.
"The dacoits have robbed valuables worth approximately Rs 70 million and after the recent incident in Jacobabad, members of the minority communities, especially women, are even afraid to go their religious places," PHC Secretary General Hari Motwani was quoted as saying by the Daily Times newspaper.
"Therefore, we demand that the Government immediately arrest the dacoits and ensure safety measures for minorities, said Motwani, adding that the incident took place in broad daylight and yet the police were unable to prevent it.
"The robberies, coupled with the kidnappings of Hindus in the northern districts of Sindh, have created panic and insecurity amongst the minorities," PHC President Raja Assermal Manglani said, adding that the government needed to ease their fears.

According to the video the group wants an independent state for ethnic Uighur Muslims.
The video features three people with obscured faces carrying guns.
They also take responsibility for a series of other explosions throughout China and threaten to attack the Olympic Games, which starts in Beijing in two weeks.
There's no way of verifying if the people on the video really did bomb buses in Kunming, are capable of attacking the Olympics or are even from Xinjiang.
The Chinese Government has not yet commented on the tape.

The famous Meenakshi temple in Madurai in Tamil Nadu is on the Lashkar-e-Tayiba's hit-list, fears the Intelligence Bureau.
The IB has alerted Tamil Nadu's director general of police with information obtained by intercepts by the Indian Army and the Research and Analysis Wing, India's external intelligence agency.
IB Director P C Haldar spoke to Tamil Nadu DGP K P Jain on Saturday to convey the Centre's concerns.
Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil may speak to state Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to urgently post additional security at the temple.
The Centre wants the Tamil Nadu government to take quick action on its alert and avert any threat to the shrine.
Krishna Kumar P adds:
Security in and around the Meenakshi temple has been beefed up, the Tamil Nadu police said on Saturday.
"I cannot share with you details of the IB inputs. The temple figures in our alerts also. We have asked the respective departments to step up security in vulnerable installations and public places like markets and malls. Temples also figure in this, and security has been stepped up," DGP Jain told rediff.com, but declined to answer questions about any specific alert about the temple.
Madurai Commissioner of Police Nandabalan said he was asked to increase security at the temple by his superiors.
"The temple has always been secure. Only recently we ensured that all guides and shopowners in the area were ID-ed and identity cards were issued. We recently installed closed circuit security cameras," he told rediff.com
The temple has four entrances and the police have placed a sub-inspector, an armed reserve policeman and a local constable at each entrance. Also, vehicular traffic around the temple has been blocked; only pedestrians are allowed in the four streets that form the perimeter of the temple.
"After the Ahmedabad blasts, we did not want to take any chances. With our own inputs and also the central input, we have decided to enhance the security to the temple. We have set up an exclusive control room at the temple," Nandabalan said.

New Delhi: The Central Government expressed shock and surprise over a series of blasts in Ahmedabad on Saturday evening, saying the terror attack occurred despite the alerts it had sounded for all sensitive cities.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Shakeel Ahmed said: "We are surprised and shocked. Yesterday, it was Banglore. Today it is Ahmedabad. This happened even after the government of India issued high alerts to all sensitive states.”
"We condemn the blast," the Minister said, assuring the Gujarat government "of all possible assistance.
"If they need any assistance, the government of India will provide it," Ahmed said.
"Let the hour of crisis pass. We will seek information from the Gujarat government. Let the normalcy return."
Asked about the claims of Indian Mujahiddin, a recently formed terror outfit, about triggering the blasts, the Minister said: "We will give a detailed report after analysing the state government's report. Let the state government report come first."

The last year has seen a major crackdown on alleged Islamic militants in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to numbers released by the country's Interior Ministry. The figures suggest that militant groups continue to be active despite recent comments quoted in The Washington Post by General Michael Hayden, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, suggesting a "near strategic defeat for al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia."
According to the BBC, more people were arrested in the past 12 months than in any other year in recent history.
Saudi Arabia is holding 520 suspected militants following raids across the kingdom this year, its interior ministry says....
Officials said a further 181 suspects detained in 2008 had been released because of a lack of evidence.
The militant arrest figures are thought to be the largest and most comprehensive ever released by the Saudi authorities.
Abu Dhabi's new English-language daily, The National, reports that many of those arrested are accused by Saudi officials of links with Al Qaeda.
The official statement, carried by the government-run Saudi Press Agency, said officials "have carried out a number of security operations against the deviant groups who have been working for the service of the country's enemies targeting the country's principles, security, economy and way of life."
"Deviant" is a term Saudi officials use to describe the ideology of al Qa'eda and similar groups.
Speaking to the Financial Times, General Mansour al-Turki, the Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman, outlined some of the alleged activities of those arrested.
Those still held were organised in what was described as five cells and were being investigated for financing, spreading ideology and planning attacks.
"Some were working with publishing, some were working with financing and recruiting. One [group] in eastern province, formed mostly of non-Saudis, was planning attacks on oil refineries, infrastructure and security headquarters," he said.
Arab News, a Saudi English-language daily, reports that a number of those arrested were in direct contact with the top Al Qaeda leadership.
One of those arrested was carrying a recorded message of Al-Qaeda's second-in-command Ayman Al-Zawahri on the memory card of a cell phone. "The bearer of this message is one of our trusted brothers; therefore, please give him your donations to help hundreds of families of captives and martyrs in Pakistan and Afghanistan," the message said.
Islamic militants have long targeted Saudi Arabia for its ties with Western powers and the corruption of its rulers, flush with oil money. The Associated Press highlights Al Qaeda's campaign against Saudi Arabia:
Al-Qaida has called for attacks against the Saudi government, criticizing its alliance with the U.S. and hoping to disrupt the flow of oil to the West. The group has also labeled the government un-Islamic, even though the kingdom follows a strict interpretation of Islam known as Wahhabism.
Reports in the Arab News further suggest that some of the arrested militants had returned from fighting in Iraq, while others were facilitating the movement of fighters into Iraq to battle US forces.
Police arrested 112 suspects for coordinating with foreign parties to facilitate the travel of militants to disturbed regions, Al-Turki said, in a reference to those that convince Saudis to travel to Iraq in order to fight alongside insurgents.
But commentators say Saudi Arabia has fueled the problem by supporting the strict Wahhabi doctrine and, in the past, actively supporting those traveling abroad to fight for Islam. Indeed, the kingdom has long been home to a majority of the foreign fighters entering Iraq, reports The Guardian.
Part of the problem is that the Saudi state, religious authorities and media actively encouraged young men to fight with the mujahideen in Afghanistan in the 1980s and 1990s. Since 2001 thousands have gone to fight there and in Iraq, where last year Saudis were the single largest group of foreign fighters.
Terrorist activity in Saudi Arabia was largely quelled by a major crackdown in 2003 following several attacks that were blamed on Al Qaeda. However, a report in Time magazine suggests that the group remains stronger than imagined.
The extent of al-Qaeda's plotting inside Saudi Arabia, as revealed by the authorities, is impressive, considering the major crackdown on the group that began four years ago after it launched a series of deadly attacks on expatriate housing complexes, government offices and oil sector facilities. "This is a movement that is trying to overthrow the government and the system," says Jamal Khashoggi, editor of the influential Saudi newspaper Al Watan. "Al-Qaeda is not dead. Part of its strategy is to win in Iraq and make it an Islamic state, from which it would launch a campaign to other countries and create a unified Islamic state. It is very naive. One should not expect it to succeed in modern times. But those guys are living in the past."
Human rights groups continue, however, to express doubts regarding the legitimacy of Saudi detentions, accusing the country of arbitrary arrests and torture. In a comment piece published by the Guardian Unlimited, Christoph Wilcke, a researcher for Human Rights Watch, wrote:
In a report on the Saudi justice system launched in London last month, Human Rights Watch found that violations of defendants' fundamental rights in Saudi Arabia are so systemic that it is hard to reconcile the existing criminal justice system with basic principles of fairness, the rule of law and international human rights standards.

Speaking to the Financial Times, General Mansour al-Turki, the Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman, outlined some of the alleged activities of those arrested.
Those still held were organised in what was described as five cells and were being investigated for financing, spreading ideology and planning attacks.
"Some were working with publishing, some were working with financing and recruiting. One [group] in eastern province, formed mostly of non-Saudis, was planning attacks on oil refineries, infrastructure and security headquarters," he said.
Arab News, a Saudi English-language daily, reports that a number of those arrested were in direct contact with the top Al Qaeda leadership.
One of those arrested was carrying a recorded message of Al-Qaeda's second-in-command Ayman Al-Zawahri on the memory card of a cell phone. "The bearer of this message is one of our trusted brothers; therefore, please give him your donations to help hundreds of families of captives and martyrs in Pakistan and Afghanistan," the message said.
Islamic militants have long targeted Saudi Arabia for its ties with Western powers and the corruption of its rulers, flush with oil money. The Associated Press highlights Al Qaeda's campaign against Saudi Arabia:
Al-Qaida has called for attacks against the Saudi government, criticizing its alliance with the U.S. and hoping to disrupt the flow of oil to the West. The group has also labeled the government un-Islamic, even though the kingdom follows a strict interpretation of Islam known as Wahhabism.
Reports in the Arab News further suggest that some of the arrested militants had returned from fighting in Iraq, while others were facilitating the movement of fighters into Iraq to battle US forces.
Police arrested 112 suspects for coordinating with foreign parties to facilitate the travel of militants to disturbed regions, Al-Turki said, in a reference to those that convince Saudis to travel to Iraq in order to fight alongside insurgents.
But commentators say Saudi Arabia has fueled the problem by supporting the strict Wahhabi doctrine and, in the past, actively supporting those traveling abroad to fight for Islam. Indeed, the kingdom has long been home to a majority of the foreign fighters entering Iraq, reports The Guardian.
Part of the problem is that the Saudi state, religious authorities and media actively encouraged young men to fight with the mujahideen in Afghanistan in the 1980s and 1990s. Since 2001 thousands have gone to fight there and in Iraq, where last year Saudis were the single largest group of foreign fighters.
Terrorist activity in Saudi Arabia was largely quelled by a major crackdown in 2003 following several attacks that were blamed on Al Qaeda. However, a report in Time magazine suggests that the group remains stronger than imagined.
The extent of al-Qaeda's plotting inside Saudi Arabia, as revealed by the authorities, is impressive, considering the major crackdown on the group that began four years ago after it launched a series of deadly attacks on expatriate housing complexes, government offices and oil sector facilities. "This is a movement that is trying to overthrow the government and the system," says Jamal Khashoggi, editor of the influential Saudi newspaper Al Watan. "Al-Qaeda is not dead. Part of its strategy is to win in Iraq and make it an Islamic state, from which it would launch a campaign to other countries and create a unified Islamic state. It is very naive. One should not expect it to succeed in modern times. But those guys are living in the past."
Human rights groups continue, however, to express doubts regarding the legitimacy of Saudi detentions, accusing the country of arbitrary arrests and torture. In a comment piece published by the Guardian Unlimited, Christoph Wilcke, a researcher for Human Rights Watch, wrote:
In a report on the Saudi justice system launched in London last month, Human Rights Watch found that violations of defendants' fundamental rights in Saudi Arabia are so systemic that it is hard to reconcile the existing criminal justice system with basic principles of fairness, the rule of law and international human rights standards.

The Mogadishu-based Elman Peace and Human Rights Organisation said it had also recorded 11,790 civilian injuries since the start of last year, when rebels began attacking the Somali government and its Ethiopian military allies.
The African Union had planned to send 8,000 soldiers to the capital Mogadishu to support the U.N.-backed interim government, which faces an insurgency by Islamist rebels.

Indonesia police chief says a suspected Islamic militant believed to head a Singapore cell of regional network Jemaah Islamiah (JI) may be hiding in Indonesia, where he could blend in more easily.
Mas Selamat bin Kastari escaped from a Singapore detention centre in February, where he was being held for allegedly plotting to crash a plane into Singapore's airport.
Singapore officials have previously expressed concern Kastari might try to hook up again with the JI network, blamed for the 2002 nightclub bombings in Bali that killed 202 people.
Asked whether Kastari might be hiding in Indonesia, Indonesian police chief Sutanto told reporters: "It's possible."
He added that language and cultural similarities meant the fugitive would be able to blend in more easily.
"If he moved to Europe he would be caught," he added.
Kastari's escape embarrassed Singapore authorities and sparked a massive manhunt on the island which saw Nepali Gurkhas combing forests and a global security alert from Interpol.
Sutanto said police were still investigating a network of suspected militants detained recently in Palembang on Indonesia's Sumatra island.
The group of 10 were detained in raids by Indonesia's anti-terrorism unit and a large cache of bombs was found.

Jakarta, July 3: Militants linked to Southeast Asia's most wanted terror suspect placed three bombs inside a tiny cafe in western Indonesia, but aborted their attack at the last minute after realising many of the victims would have been Muslims, police said on Thursday.
The revelation came during the interrogation of 10 men who were arrested this week on Sumatra Island. Twenty-two explosives also were seized, many packed with bullets to maximise the impact of the blasts, said police spokesman Maj Gen Abubakar Nataprawira.
The busts highlighted the lingering threat in Indonesia, which has been hit by a string of suicide bombings in recent years, including the 2002 Bali nightclubs attacks that thrust the world's most populous Muslim nation onto the front lines in the war on terrorism.
Many of the 240 people killed in the blasts, blamed on the regional militant network Jemaah Islamiyah, have been foreign tourists.
Some of the men rounded up this week said they initially planned to attack Westerners at Kafe Bedudel, a small cafe in the hilly Sumatran resort town of Bukittinggi, even placing timed explosives inside at one point, a senior police officer who took part in the arrests said. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media.
They aborted the mission after realising that many of the victims would have been Muslims, deciding instead to choose a target in the capital, Jakarta, said the senior officer, who refused to elaborate.
At least 22 bombs were seized during raids in Palembang, a coastal city on Sumatra, many ready to use, said Nataprawira.

Government planes were bombing Darfur even as the Sudanese President toured the war-torn desert region on a mission of peace, sources in a former rebel movement said yesterday.
A commander with a government-allied faction of the Sudan Liberation Movement said that three people died when a village was attacked in North Darfur on Wednesday.
At about the same time, President al-Bashir was playing the role of peacemaker, addressing 10,000 people in El Fasher, the regional capital. He promised understanding and investment.
Mr al-Bashir faces an arrest warrant after the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) prosecutor in The Hague outlined the case against him last week over charges of genocide, murder and crimes against humanity. His two-day trip to Darfur this week was designed to help to cement a coalition of allies who have promised to support Sudan at the United Nations. “We want to send this message to the world: we are the people of peace, we want peace . . . we are the only ones who can achieve peace in Darfur,” he said during the tour.

Yesterday, Mohamed Dirbeen, military spokesman of the Sudan Liberation Movement, which joined the Government in a 2006 peace agreement, said: “Government planes were bombing the village Karbala 40km south of El Fasher. The bombing killed three people and injured eight.”
Officials with the joint United Nations and African Union peacekeeping mission said that an assessment team had so far been unable to reach the area because of recent rains but would try again today.
In the past fortnight bombing has been reported in the Jebel Moon area of West Darfur – a stronghold of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) – and in rebel-held areas of South Darfur. Russian-built MiGs as well as lumbering Antonovs have been involved.
Two months ago JEM fighters came close to storming Khartoum after a surprise assault on Omdurman, the city facing the capital across the Nile.
UN reports seen by The Times suggest that a convoy of 120 JEM vehicles recently left their safe haven in Chad for Darfur. The bombing is seen as an attempt to prevent a follow-up attack on the capital.
No one was available from the Sudanese Armed Forces to confirm or deny the recent attacks. A spokesman for the joint peacekeeping mission said that it had received reports of daily bombing during the past week, but could not confirm the Karbala incident. “We do not have forces in those areas,” said George Ola-Davies.
Wednesday’s reported bombing raid will confirm the sceptics’ view that President al-Bashir’s trip was nothing more that a publicity stunt by a man who is trying to evade arrest for his role in the Darfur violence. Judges with the ICC are presently deciding whether he should face ten charges of war crimes.
Mr al-Bashir travelled with heavy security to Darfur. His convoy was guarded by “technicals” – pickups fitted with heavy machineguns – while helicopter gunships circled overhead. Several hundred cars, pickups and buses crammed with officials, diplomats and journalists, followed in tow. Snipers watched proceedings from roofs at each of his rallies.
Supporters were treated to the sight of their President dancing a jig as a Sudanese pop song blasted from loud-speakers before he dismissed the ICC allegations. “We don’t need lessons from anyone. We don’t need to be told how to behave. Peace is the responsibility of Darfuris,” he said during his final stop.
He stayed well away from the sprawling aid camps where rebels command overwhelming support. Instead he met representatives of displaced people in private meetings described as tense and angry by officials inside. Outside children sang songs and waved flags as the President passed in a heavily armed motorcade.
An aid worker in Darfur reported that the scenes of celebration were carefully stage-managed. Too Huge World, a blogger who posts anonymously for fear of reprisals from El Fasher, said that people were being paid $25-$50 to attend the rallies.
“Bashir’s lackeys are sending buses and trucks to pick up people from all the surrounding villages,” he said.
The United Nations estimates that 300,000 people have died since rebels took up arms against the Government in 2003. Four million people are entirely reliant on aid agencies for food, medicine or other essentials.

IN A major success against the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit, police arrested a confidant of United Jihad Council (UJC) chief, and HM chief Syed Salahuddin from Chingus area of Rajouri district. When he was on his way from Rajouri to Jammu with some ammunition and other things of the outfit.
In another incident, same police arrested an over ground worker (OGW) of the same outfit with hawala money, who had recently brought hawala money from Pakistan through Wagah border. According to reports, after the arrest of the HM confidant, the police achieved a major success. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajouri, Rajesh Yadav told that on Saturday (July 12) night police relieved specific information about the presence of top militant of Hizbul Mujahideen in the area.
Reports said after the information the police launched a search operation in the area. The hiding militant managed to give a slip to the security forces under the cover of darkness, forcing the security forces to lay nakas on all the routes linking Thanamandi with other stations of the district.
On Sunday (July 13) afternoon, Rajouri police succeeded in nabbing the militant, Abdul Rashid Bhat, son of Ahmed Gani Bhat of Doda at Chingus when he was leaving the district in a vehicle. From the vehicle, police recovered one AK 47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds of AK and a mobile phone. The arrested militant has been identified as 31-year-old Abdul Rashid, son of Abdul Gani Bhat, a resident of Doda.
The said militant was known as Mansoor ul Haq alias Mazam bhai in the entire HM outfit and his code was MS. He was enjoying second place in the hierarchy of the outfit for being close confidant of united jihad council (UJC) chief Syed Salahuddin. After his arrest, the police took him to a safe house for interrogation. During sustained questioning of the militant it came to fore that he ex filtrated to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in 1998 when he was studying in 10th class, through Muzaffarabad area and remained there till 2007.
During his period, he not only received training in handling sophisticated weapons but also supervised several training camps. Sources said that during his 10 year stay in Pakistan he was in-charge of three training camps. He also became a close confidant of Syed Salahuddin for being hardcore jihadi and the top hierarchy was always deputing him to the training camps across PoK to preach jihad against India to the recruits of militant outfits.
SSP Yadav said that when Hizbul Mujahideen outfit started receiving setback across Jammu and Kashmir in 2007, he was deputed to strengthen the outfit and lure innocent youth by UJC chief and said that he was sent to Dhaka from Karachi after preparing fake visa and passport before infiltrating into the Indian territory and then travelling to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) through train. He was the commander so the outfit did not take risk to send him across the Indian side and made his fake travel documents. When he reached Dhaka, a HM guide, Gulam Mohammed helped him cross the border into India from Bangladesh and he reached in Kolkata. Soon after his arrival in Jammu, he went to Pulwama and met Rajouri-Pulwama divisional commander of the outfit, Saqib, who tasked Mansoor-ul-Haq to take control of the outfit in Doda district. Police today arrested an over-ground worker (OGW) of the outfit namely Mushtaq Hussain, son of Khushi Mohd of Ladyote from Rajouri town. when he was on way to deliver the hawala money to the HM commander Aadil. His sustained interrogation led to the recovery of Rs one lakh hawala money, SSP Yadav said, adding the OGW had gone to Pakistan on valid visa through Wagah border about two months back.
In Pakistan, he stayed with his relative Himanyu and received Rs 1.30 lakh hawala money for HM outfit commanders operating in Jammu. About 10 days back he returned from Pakistan through Wagah border along with the hawala money. But, on the basis of specific information, police nabbed the OGW and recovered Rs one lakh hawala money. The remaining money was spent by the OGW during his stay in Rajouri.

IN A major success against the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit, police arrested a confidant of United Jihad Council (UJC) chief, and HM chief Syed Salahuddin from Chingus area of Rajouri district. When he was on his way from Rajouri to Jammu with some ammunition and other things of the outfit.
In another incident, same police arrested an over ground worker (OGW) of the same outfit with hawala money, who had recently brought hawala money from Pakistan through Wagah border. According to reports, after the arrest of the HM confidant, the police achieved a major success. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajouri, Rajesh Yadav told that on Saturday (July 12) night police relieved specific information about the presence of top militant of Hizbul Mujahideen in the area.
Reports said after the information the police launched a search operation in the area. The hiding militant managed to give a slip to the security forces under the cover of darkness, forcing the security forces to lay nakas on all the routes linking Thanamandi with other stations of the district.
On Sunday (July 13) afternoon, Rajouri police succeeded in nabbing the militant, Abdul Rashid Bhat, son of Ahmed Gani Bhat of Doda at Chingus when he was leaving the district in a vehicle. From the vehicle, police recovered one AK 47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds of AK and a mobile phone. The arrested militant has been identified as 31-year-old Abdul Rashid, son of Abdul Gani Bhat, a resident of Doda.
The said militant was known as Mansoor ul Haq alias Mazam bhai in the entire HM outfit and his code was MS. He was enjoying second place in the hierarchy of the outfit for being close confidant of united jihad council (UJC) chief Syed Salahuddin. After his arrest, the police took him to a safe house for interrogation. During sustained questioning of the militant it came to fore that he ex filtrated to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in 1998 when he was studying in 10th class, through Muzaffarabad area and remained there till 2007.
During his period, he not only received training in handling sophisticated weapons but also supervised several training camps. Sources said that during his 10 year stay in Pakistan he was in-charge of three training camps. He also became a close confidant of Syed Salahuddin for being hardcore jihadi and the top hierarchy was always deputing him to the training camps across PoK to preach jihad against India to the recruits of militant outfits.
SSP Yadav said that when Hizbul Mujahideen outfit started receiving setback across Jammu and Kashmir in 2007, he was deputed to strengthen the outfit and lure innocent youth by UJC chief and said that he was sent to Dhaka from Karachi after preparing fake visa and passport before infiltrating into the Indian territory and then travelling to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) through train. He was the commander so the outfit did not take risk to send him across the Indian side and made his fake travel documents. When he reached Dhaka, a HM guide, Gulam Mohammed helped him cross the border into India from Bangladesh and he reached in Kolkata. Soon after his arrival in Jammu, he went to Pulwama and met Rajouri-Pulwama divisional commander of the outfit, Saqib, who tasked Mansoor-ul-Haq to take control of the outfit in Doda district. ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish warplanes bombed 13 Kurdish rebel targets in northern Iraq, the military said Thursday.
Turkey has conducted frequent air raids on suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, in northern Iraq. Earlier this year, it also launched a weeklong ground offensive there.
The warplanes attacked rebel targets late Wednesday in the Zab region, near the Turkish border, the military said in a statement posted on its Web site.
The military said it was trying to determine whether there had been rebel casualties. There was no immediate comment from the rebel group.
The PKK has been fighting for self-rule in southeast Turkey since 1984. The violence has killed tens of thousands of people since then.
The rebels use bases in Iraq as a staging ground for cross-border attacks on Turkish targets.
The military said it was determined to press ahead with anti-rebel operations both inside Turkey and across the border in Iraq "according to military needs."

GAZA, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Six Palestinians, including four Hamas militants, were killed and over 20 wounded in a series of explosions and attacks in Gaza City on Friday, according to the Interior Ministry of the deposed Hamas government and medics.
Medics at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City said four militants and an eight-year-old girl were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion at the Coastal Road in western Gaza City on Friday evening.
Witnesses said they heard a huge explosion, adding that four Hamas militants inside a car was attacked by a homemade bomb.
Hamas movement's armed wing, al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement sent to reporters that unknown individuals attacked the car driving on Gaza coastal road, adding that all of the four Hamas militants were killed.
The statement said the blast also killed the eight-year-old girl nearby, injuring around 20 people.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately known, but the group blamed rival Fatah movement militants for being behind the attack on Hamas militants' car, saying "groups which have fled the Gaza Strip" masterminded the explosion.
The Islamist Hamas movement took over the Gaza Strip from Fatah and security forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in June last year, following a-week-long deadly infighting.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry of the Hamas unity government ruling in Gaza said in a statement that the bomb attack on the car is the first in Gaza since Hamas took the rein of the Gaza Strip.
"The aim of carrying out such attacks is to bring the Gaza Strip back to the status of chaos and disorder that dominated the area before Hamas came and took control of Gaza," said the ministry.
Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas leader, accused Palestinian groups "who collaborate with the enemy (Israel)" of being behind the blast, adding, "It is the work of groups trying to undermine the security of the Palestinian people."
Earlier on Friday morning, a Palestinian was killed in an attack on a cafe in Gaza City, Hamas police said, adding that another bomb was hurled at a house of a Hamas parliament member in Gaza City. No injuries were reported.

In a separate attack, another two policemen and two civilians were ambushed and killed in a forest near the village of Roshni-Chu in the Shatoi district also in southern Chechnya.
Chechnya saw two Kremlin-led military campaigns in the 1990s-early 2000s against separatist forces. Although the active phase of the operation was completed, frequent militant attacks occur in Chechnya and neighboring republics.

Most recently, Chinese state-controlled media reported that the police had killed five militants in Urumqi, injured two more and arrested eight others.
