In spite of the widely-held belief that ‘men of Allah’ are there to provide succor, and to convert individuals in the process of positively transforming society, the trial of Imam Momo Farley for alleged rape opening here today clearly stains this common belief.
Imam Momo Farley, head of a mosque in Clara Town, appeared Monday in Criminal Court ‘E’ for a pretrial conference, meant to set the stage for his trial.
He is indicted for raping a 14-year-old girl in Clara Town in 2009, and has been in detention since then.
His appearance in court was the first since he was indicted in 2010 for rape.
The pretrial conference was meant to warn state prosecutors and defense lawyers to get ready all pieces of evidence before the trial begins today.
Following the conference, Imam Momo Farley briefly told journalists that the alleged rape charge against him was “made up solely to embarrass me and damage my character. I am an Imam, and will nerve do that.”
But the exclusion of journalists from Criminal Court ‘E’, established to try only rape cases, makes its coverage difficult because those found violating its regulations risk being fined or jailed.
Meanwhile, defendants Joseph Garly and Morris Comoza, accused of raping girls aged 12 and 15 years, respectively, in Gardnerville, also attended pretrial conferences here Monday.
Defendants Garly and Comoza have been in detention since 2006 and 2009, respectively, before they were indicted with rape.
Court officers said no date has been set for their cases.

VEENA Malik, by her definition, is "just an entertainer."
But the Pakistani model, actress and comic has emerged an online sensation, after footage of her talkshow attack on a Muslim cleric made its way around the Western world.
Her strident defence of her rights as a woman followed her appearance in Big Boss 4, an Indian version of Big Brother, last year.
The popular performer was voted out of the celebrity program two weeks shy of the final, but has been harassed by Pakistani commentators and religious leaders since.
Criticised for bringing "shame" on the country and "disrespect" to Islam, Malik turned the tables on Mufti Abdul Qavi Sahab, a scholar brought on the chat show to condemn her.
The 32-year-old accused the cleric of looking at her, against the strict teachings of their religion, before pointing to the alleged misdeeds of those purporting to act for Islam.
She denied any "wrongdoing" on the program, then accused muslim leaders of turning a blind eye to crime in their own mosques.
In the interview she questioned why she was being villified when "there are Islamic clerics who rape the children they teach in their mosques."
Towards the end of the powerful clip, a teary Malik claims her decision to enter the Big Boss house was to show the world Pakistanis can "enjoy entertainment, fun and love."
"I gave love to everyone, just to show that those people do not represent Pakistanis...those people whose passports turn out to be Pakistani when a terror attack takes place...there are also Pakistanis like us who enjoy entertainment, fun and love."
Since the outburst, first aired in January, Malik has been hailed a hero for defending herself and taking such a brave stand.
Tanc Sade, an Australian, LA-based blogger (www.dysfunctionalbachelor.wordpress.com) received more than 4500 hits in less than 24 hours for his post on the Malik v mufti exchange.
"Her strength and courage is nothing short of amazing," Sade writes.

The pastor at a north Toronto church has been charged with sexual assault after a parishioner told police she was attacked during a prayer session.
Police say the female victim was assaulted Wednesday at the Fire of Miracle Ministries Church at 1270 Finch Ave. W.
The church is also known as the Faithful Pentecostal Miracle Church.
Emmanuel Animodi, 45, was scheduled to appear in court Friday for a bail hearing.
The church’s website describes Animodi as “an anointed chosen man of God, whom God has revealed the secret of his blood unto.”
Animodi is also described as a prophet who can speak in tongues.
Part of the church’s mission statement reads that it is out “to control crime, drugs and sexual abuse.”

Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram has told the BBC it carried out the series of bombings after President Goodluck Jonathan's inauguration on Sunday.
The worst incident was at an army barracks in the northern city of Bauchi in which at least 14 people died.
A sect spokesman said it was also responsible for killing the brother of the Shehu of Borno, one of Nigeria's most important Islamic leaders.
The sect has been behind numerous recent assassinations in Borno state.
It is opposed to Western education and accuses Nigeria's government of being corrupted by Western ideas.
Clashes in Borno's state capital, Maiduguri, between the Boko Haram and the police in July 2009 left hundreds of people dead, mainly members of the sect.
For the past eight months, sect members have been fighting a guerrilla war in Borno, killing policemen and people they believe were helping the security services in the fight against them.
'Very loyal'
Sect spokesman Abu Zayd told the BBC's Hausa Service that serving members of the Nigerian army had been used to carry out the bombings in the Bauchi barracks on Sunday.

But Nigerian army spokesman Brig-Gen Raphael Isa rejected the allegation.
"It is not correct. Let him publish the names of those pledging loyalty to Boko Haram," he told the BBC News website.
"This is not a banana republic. We are one army united and very very loyal," he said.
Mr Zayd said the sect was also behind the killing of Abba Anas Ibn Umar Garbai, who was killed by gunmen outside his home in Maiduguri on Monday evening.
''We are the ones responsible for the killing of the junior brother of the Shehu of Borno," he said.
The Shehu of Borno is one of Nigeria's most prominent religious figures - second only to the Sultan of Sokoto, the spiritual leader of Nigeria's Muslims.
"As we always say, these traditional institutions are being used to track and hunt us, that is why we attack them," Mr Zayd said.
"We are doing what we are doing to fight injustice, if they stop there satanic ways of doing things and the injustices, we would stop what we are doing.''
Officials say 16 people died in the explosions in Bauchi, Zuba, Zaria, hometown of Vice-President Namadi Sambo, and Maiduguri.
The first attack came only hours after President Jonathan was sworn in for his first full four-year term of office in the capital, Abuja.
Mr Jonathan was promoted from vice-president after northerner Umaru Yar'Adua died in office in 2010.
April's election was largely considered free and fair, but hundreds of people were killed in three days of rioting and reprisal killings in northern towns following the announcement of the result.
Mr Jonathan, a southerner, secured nearly 60% of the vote in the election. His main challenger, northern Muslim and former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, came a distant second with almost 32%.
Nigeria is divided by rivalry between the predominantly Muslim north and the mainly Christian south, which also have cultural, ethnic and linguistic differences.
Analysts say that Mr Jonathan will have to tackle this north-south rivalry and also the simmering tension in the oil-producing Niger Delta.

Dubai: Bollywood music director Esmail Darbar has accused Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman of bribing Academy officials and of stealing compositions.
In a report in Tuesday's edition of the Indian tabloid Mid Day that the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam composer also claims that he has proof that the Oscar-winning tune Jai Ho is not an original work.
"Rahman is a very good businessman, he knows how to handle his public relations. I will yet again say that he has bought the Oscar," Darbar was quoted as saying.
"I have proof that Jai Ho is not his. It has been done by someone else. All the big film-makers like Subhash Ghai, Mani Ratnam know about it," he added.
Though the music maestro hasn't responded to Darbar's allegations, Vijay Iyer, a member of his musical team, has come out in support of him.
"If someone says he has bought the Oscars, how does he explain his Oscar nomination for 127 Hours? We are all proud of everything that he has done," Iyer was quoted in the same daily.
Rahman received two Oscars in 2009 -- Best Original Score and Best Original Song for his music in Slumdog Millionaire. In 2011, he was also nominated in the same categories for Danny Boyle's 127 Hours.
The Chennai-based music director is one of the most in-demand composers in India today.

Though the music maestro hasn't responded to Darbar's allegations, Vijay Iyer, a member of his musical team, has come out in support of him.
"If someone says he has bought the Oscars, how does he explain his Oscar nomination for 127 Hours? We are all proud of everything that he has done," Iyer was quoted in the same daily.
Rahman received two Oscars in 2009 -- Best Original Score and Best Original Song for his music in Slumdog Millionaire. In 2011, he was also nominated in the same categories for Danny Boyle's 127 Hours.
The Chennai-based music director is one of the most in-demand composers in India today.

CHICAGO — The Vatican was named Wednesday in a lawsuit that claims the Holy See ultimately was responsible for covering up child sexual abuse by a now-imprisoned Chicago priest when church officials overlooked complaints about abuse and kept him in a position to continue molesting children.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago on behalf of a woman whose son was molested by Father Daniel McCormack, is an attempt to "hold those most responsible for the global problem and the problem in this community to account in a way they have never been," said St. Paul, Minnesota-based attorney Jeff Anderson.
McCormack pleaded guilty in 2007 to abusing five children while he was parish priest at St. Agatha Catholic Church and a teacher at a Catholic school and was sentenced to five years in prison. In 2008, the Archdiocese of Chicago agreed to pay $12.6 million to 16 victims of sexual abuse by priests, including McCormack. As part of that settlement, Cardinal Francis George also agreed to release a lengthy deposition and apologize to the public and each victim.
Anderson said the Archdiocese also agreed to release documents involving priests who had been credibly accused of abuse, but "not one file has been effectively produced so we can produce it to the public" and believes it's because the Archdiocese is following orders from the Vatican. In 2009, a Cook County judge granted the Archdiocese a protective order keeping portions of files private.
Marc Pearlman, another attorney involved in Wednesday's lawsuit, said it's possible some plaintiffs would not have agreed to the 2008 settlement without the promise from the Archdiocese to release the files.
A spokeswoman for the Archdiocese would not comment on Anderson's contention because it was not named in the suit.
The Vatican's U.S. attorney, Jeffrey Lena, referred questions about the documents to the Archdiocese but released a statement saying the lawsuit "is without any merit." He said the victim mentioned in the lawsuit had already received payment from the Archdiocese and "released all further claims" as part of the 2008 settlement.
Anderson said the settlement with Archdiocese did not specifically name the Vatican as a settling party.
This is not the first time Anderson has sued the Vatican. He also named the Holy See in cases filed in Wisconsin and Oregon. The Vatican has argued it is shielded from lawsuits as a sovereign nation, although Wednesday's lawsuit claims McCormack was a "direct agent" of the Vatican because he helped raise money for Peter's Pence, an annual collection for the Vatican.
Lena said the suit "rehashes the same tired theories already rejected by U.S. courts ... and importantly, the Holy See had no factual involvement in this matter whatsoever."
The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages but Anderson said its aim is "to require the Vatican to come clean" with the names of the offenders it knows about and the files kept on them.
"It is the men at the top who make decisions that require secrecy" from others in the Catholic Church, he said.
"Daniel McCormick is just one of many offenders who have been allowed to offend in secrecy," he said. "There won't be change at the bottom until there's change at the top."
Last month, the Vatican was served with court papers stemming from decades-old allegations of sexual abuse against a now-deceased priest at a Wisconsin school for the deaf. The lawsuit was filed last year in federal court on behalf of Terry Kohut, now of Chicago, claiming that Pope Benedict XVI and two other top Vatican officials knew about allegations of sexual abuse at St. John's School for the Deaf outside Milwaukee and called off internal punishment of the accused priest, the Rev. Lawrence Murphy.
Anderson also has a pending lawsuit against the Vatican in Oregon for a man who claims he was abused at his Catholic school in the 1960s.

May 21, 2011, 10.04pm ISTSURAT: Chowk Bazaar police arrested an 18-year-old youth for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl here on Saturday. The youth, a native of Bihar, worked as a cleric in a madrassa and has been arrested. He has been booked under IPC section 354. According to a complaint registered by the girl's mother, Parvez Shekih of Aredia, Bihar pulled her small daughter to a corner in the mosque located at Sopari Gali and sexually assaulted her on Friday afternoon.
The complaint by Mumtaz Pathan said that the action by the accused led to profuse bleeding by the victim, who went home and narrated the incident to her mother. The victim was immediately rushed to Surat General Hospital for treatment.
A Chowk Bazaar police officer said, "Hospital authorities informed the police. The complaint was registered by the victim's mother on Saturday and subsequently the accused was arrested."

(Photo: PAN/Waheed Ollah)The police say that they have arrested a Mullah Imam (a religious cleric who leads the prayers) in connection with the rape of two women in the Imam Sahib District of Kunduz Province.
Police chief of Imam Sahib District, Abdul Qayum Ibrahimi stated the culprit’s name as Mullah Rahmatullah and told PAN that he was an Imam in the mosque of the Baika village and had been arrested two days back as he thought to be involved in the rape of two women.
The police chief said that Mullah Rahmatullah was one of the relatives of Commander Sarbaz, an ex-commander of Junbish-e-Milli and Mohammad Azam, the husband of one of the raped women who also believes that Mullah Rahmatullah is involved in the rape case.
Mohammad Azam had told PAN three days back that a total of four armed men of Commander Sarbaz had raped his and his brother’s wife.
A resident of the Baika Village, he said that these men had knocked on their door at ten at night and after they had not opened the door, one of them jumped inside and broke the lock with the gun butt to let in the other three.
According to him, these men had beat them (he and his brother) with their gun butts, kicked and punched them, tied them up in another room and then raped their wives.

Malem Juma Khan, district chief of Imam Sahib said that one of the relatives of Commander Sarbaz and three other men had raped two women but he didn’t name them.
Commander Sarbaz accepted that these women had been raped but refused that his men had been involved. He said he is ready to face the accusers in whatever organization they appeal in and defend his men.
Also Mahboobullah Saidi, spokesperson of the governor of Kunduz, said that they are trying to find the other three men. He assured that the attorney and security forces are working separately to find and arrest the accused and hand them over to the law.

Police chief of Imam Sahib District, Abdul Qayum Ibrahimi stated the culprit’s name as Mullah Rahmatullah and told PAN that he was an Imam in the mosque of the Baika village and had been arrested two days back as he thought to be involved in the rape of two women.
The police chief said that Mullah Rahmatullah was one of the relatives of Commander Sarbaz, an ex-commander of Junbish-e-Milli and Mohammad Azam, the husband of one of the raped women who also believes that Mullah Rahmatullah is involved in the rape case.
Mohammad Azam had told PAN three days back that a total of four armed men of Commander Sarbaz had raped his and his brother’s wife.
A resident of the Baika Village, he said that these men had knocked on their door at ten at night and after they had not opened the door, one of them jumped inside and broke the lock with the gun butt to let in the other three.
According to him, these men had beat them (he and his brother) with their gun butts, kicked and punched them, tied them up in another room and then raped their wives.

Essop initially faced 14 charges, but his lawyers succeeded in getting seven of the counts discharged. பாகிஸ்தான் தீவிரவாதி இயக்கத்துக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பியதாக பிரான்சில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட மேலூர் என்ஜினீயர் பற்றி விசாரிக்க மும்பை போலீசார் முகாமிட்டு உள்ளனர்.
மேலூர் என்ஜினீயர்
அல்ஜீரியாவில் இருந்து கடந்த 10-ந் தேதி பாரீஸ் சென்ற விமானத்தில் பயணம் செய்த முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் (வயது 33) உள்பட 7 பேரை சந்தேகத்தின் பேரில் பிரான்ஸ் போலீசார் பிடித்தனர். விசாரணையில், அவர்களுக்கு தீவிரவாதிகளுடன் தொடர்பு இருப்பது தெரியவந்தது. இவர்களில் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் மதுரை மாவட்டம் மேலூரை சேர்ந்தவர் என்ற தகவல் வெளியானது.
இதைத்தொடர்ந்து மதுரை மாவட்ட உளவுப்பிரிவு துணை சூப்பிரண்டு இசக்கி ஆனந்தன் தலைமையிலான உளவு போலீசார் மதுரை நகர், புறநகர் பகுதியில் தீவிர விசாரணை மேற்கொண்டனர். இதில் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் என்ற பெயரில் மேலூர் நகருக்குள் 2 பேரும், மேலூர் புறநகர் பகுதியில் 6 பேரும் இருப்பது கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது.
இதனால் பிரான்சில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் யார் என்று அடையாளம் காணுவதில் உளவு போலீசார் குழப்பம் அடைந்தனர்.
மும்பை போலீசார்
இந்த நிலையில் மும்பையில் இருந்து தனிப்படை போலீசார் நேற்று முன்தினம் மதுரை வந்தனர். அவர்கள் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் பற்றி விசாரணை நடத்தினர். இதில் அவர் மேலூரை சேர்ந்தவர் என்பது உறுதியானது. தொடர்ந்து மேலூரில் மும்பை போலீசார் முகாமிட்டு தேடுதல் வேட்டையில் ஈடுபட்டனர். இதில் மேலூர் சந்தைபேட்டையில் ஒரு டெலிபோன் டவர் அருகே அவரது வீடு இருப்பது கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது. தற்போது அந்த வீடு பூட்டிக் கிடக்கிறது.
இதுபற்றி மும்பை போலீசார் கூறியதாவது:-
முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் பற்றி அக்கம், பக்கத்தில் விசாரித்தபோது, அவரது தந்தை அப்துல் ரஷித் மதுரையில் ஒரு தனியார் மில்லில் பணியாற்றியவர் என்பது தெரிகிறது. இவருக்கு முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் என்ற மகனும், 2 மகளும் உள்ளனர். மகள் இருவரும் திருமணமாகி கணவருடன் கத்தார் நாட்டில் வசிக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் அங்கேயே குடியுரிமை பெற்று உள்ளனர். முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித்தின் தந்தை கடந்த 15 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு மில் வேலையில் இருந்து விலகி துபாய் நாட்டுக்கு சென்றுவிட்டார்.
தாயார்
அங்கிருந்து அடிக்கடி கத்தாரில் உள்ள மகள்கள் வீட்டுக்கு சென்று வந்துள்ளார். மகன் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் கடந்த 5 ஆண்டுக்கு முன்பு புதுச்சேரியை சேர்ந்த கருத்த உருநிஷா என்ற பெண்ணை திருமணம் செய்தார். அதன்பின் அவர் பிரான்ஸ் சென்று விட்டார். ஆனால் அவரது மனைவி எங்கு இருக்கிறாார் என்பது தெரியவில்லை. முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித்தின் தந்தை துபாயில் இருப்பதாலும், சகோதரிகள் கத்தாரில் உள்ளதாலும் அவர் பிரான்சில் இருந்து அடிக்கடி கத்தாருக்கும், துபாய்க்கும் சென்று வந்துள்ளார்.
மேலூரில் அவரது தாயார் பாத்திமா மட்டும் இருந்திருக்கிறார். அவர் இங்கிருந்து அடிக்கடி கணவரை பார்க்க துபாய் நாட்டுக்கும், மகனை பார்க்க பிரான்சுக்கும் சென்று வந்துள்ளார். 6 மாதத்துக்கு ஒரு மாதம் மட்டுமே மேலூரில் தங்கி இருப்பதாக தெரிகிறது. நேற்று அவர் வீட்டில் இல்லை. சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம் திருப்பத்தூருக்கு சென்று இருப்பதாக அக்கம், பக்கத்தினர் தெரிவித்தனர்.
தீவிரவாத அமைப்பு
கைதான முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் தனியார் என்ஜினீயரிங் கல்லூரியில் பட்டம் பெற்றுள்ளார். அவர் படிக்கும்போதே தடை செய்யப்பட்ட தீவிரவாத இயக்கங்களுடன் தொடர்பு வைத்து இருந்துள்ளார். மேலூர் பகுதியை சேர்ந்த அல் உம்மா தீவிரவாதி இமாம் அலியின் கூட்டாளிகளுடனும் அவருக்கு நெருங்கிய தொடர்பு இருந்ததாக தெரிகிறது.

அல்ஜீரியாவில் இருந்து கடந்த 10-ந் தேதி பாரீஸ் சென்ற விமானத்தில் பயணம் செய்த முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் (வயது 33) உள்பட 7 பேரை சந்தேகத்தின் பேரில் பிரான்ஸ் போலீசார் பிடித்தனர். விசாரணையில், அவர்களுக்கு தீவிரவாதிகளுடன் தொடர்பு இருப்பது தெரியவந்தது. இவர்களில் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் மதுரை மாவட்டம் மேலூரை சேர்ந்தவர் என்ற தகவல் வெளியானது.
இதைத்தொடர்ந்து மதுரை மாவட்ட உளவுப்பிரிவு துணை சூப்பிரண்டு இசக்கி ஆனந்தன் தலைமையிலான உளவு போலீசார் மதுரை நகர், புறநகர் பகுதியில் தீவிர விசாரணை மேற்கொண்டனர். இதில் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் என்ற பெயரில் மேலூர் நகருக்குள் 2 பேரும், மேலூர் புறநகர் பகுதியில் 6 பேரும் இருப்பது கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது.
இதனால் பிரான்சில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் யார் என்று அடையாளம் காணுவதில் உளவு போலீசார் குழப்பம் அடைந்தனர்.
மும்பை போலீசார்
இந்த நிலையில் மும்பையில் இருந்து தனிப்படை போலீசார் நேற்று முன்தினம் மதுரை வந்தனர். அவர்கள் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் பற்றி விசாரணை நடத்தினர். இதில் அவர் மேலூரை சேர்ந்தவர் என்பது உறுதியானது. தொடர்ந்து மேலூரில் மும்பை போலீசார் முகாமிட்டு தேடுதல் வேட்டையில் ஈடுபட்டனர். இதில் மேலூர் சந்தைபேட்டையில் ஒரு டெலிபோன் டவர் அருகே அவரது வீடு இருப்பது கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது. தற்போது அந்த வீடு பூட்டிக் கிடக்கிறது.
இதுபற்றி மும்பை போலீசார் கூறியதாவது:-
முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் பற்றி அக்கம், பக்கத்தில் விசாரித்தபோது, அவரது தந்தை அப்துல் ரஷித் மதுரையில் ஒரு தனியார் மில்லில் பணியாற்றியவர் என்பது தெரிகிறது. இவருக்கு முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் என்ற மகனும், 2 மகளும் உள்ளனர். மகள் இருவரும் திருமணமாகி கணவருடன் கத்தார் நாட்டில் வசிக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் அங்கேயே குடியுரிமை பெற்று உள்ளனர். முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித்தின் தந்தை கடந்த 15 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு மில் வேலையில் இருந்து விலகி துபாய் நாட்டுக்கு சென்றுவிட்டார்.
தாயார்
அங்கிருந்து அடிக்கடி கத்தாரில் உள்ள மகள்கள் வீட்டுக்கு சென்று வந்துள்ளார். மகன் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் கடந்த 5 ஆண்டுக்கு முன்பு புதுச்சேரியை சேர்ந்த கருத்த உருநிஷா என்ற பெண்ணை திருமணம் செய்தார். அதன்பின் அவர் பிரான்ஸ் சென்று விட்டார். ஆனால் அவரது மனைவி எங்கு இருக்கிறாார் என்பது தெரியவில்லை. முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித்தின் தந்தை துபாயில் இருப்பதாலும், சகோதரிகள் கத்தாரில் உள்ளதாலும் அவர் பிரான்சில் இருந்து அடிக்கடி கத்தாருக்கும், துபாய்க்கும் சென்று வந்துள்ளார்.
மேலூரில் அவரது தாயார் பாத்திமா மட்டும் இருந்திருக்கிறார். அவர் இங்கிருந்து அடிக்கடி கணவரை பார்க்க துபாய் நாட்டுக்கும், மகனை பார்க்க பிரான்சுக்கும் சென்று வந்துள்ளார். 6 மாதத்துக்கு ஒரு மாதம் மட்டுமே மேலூரில் தங்கி இருப்பதாக தெரிகிறது. நேற்று அவர் வீட்டில் இல்லை. சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம் திருப்பத்தூருக்கு சென்று இருப்பதாக அக்கம், பக்கத்தினர் தெரிவித்தனர்.
தீவிரவாத அமைப்பு
கைதான முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித் தனியார் என்ஜினீயரிங் கல்லூரியில் பட்டம் பெற்றுள்ளார். அவர் படிக்கும்போதே தடை செய்யப்பட்ட தீவிரவாத இயக்கங்களுடன் தொடர்பு வைத்து இருந்துள்ளார். மேலூர் பகுதியை சேர்ந்த அல் உம்மா தீவிரவாதி இமாம் அலியின் கூட்டாளிகளுடனும் அவருக்கு நெருங்கிய தொடர்பு இருந்ததாக தெரிகிறது.
பாகிஸ்தான் தீவிரவாத கும்பலுக்கு ஆட்களை சேர்க்கும் வேலையிலும் அவர் ஈடுபட்டு இருப்பது விசாரணையில் தெரியவருகிறது. மேலூரில் முகாமிட்டுள்ள மும்பை போலீசார் முகமது நியாஸ் அப்துல் ரஷித்தின் தாயார் பாத்திமாவை பிடித்து விசாரித்தால், மேலும் பல்வேறு தகவல்கள் வெளிவரும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

Lucknow, May 27 (PTI): Five persons were arrested for allegedly running a child trafficking racket and a toddler rescued from their possession in Wazirganj locality here, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, the members of the gang, identified as Raza Hussain, his wife Hashiba Khatoon (both from Bihar), Shakeel Ahmad, his sister Shakeela and another aid Atiq were arrested yesterday, they said, adding that a one-year-old girl Alisha was also recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, they said that they used to roam as beggars and lift children of slum dwellers and sell them to a Bihar-based begging gang at Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000, they said.
They confessed to their involvement in picking up over 15 children from the city, police said.
Meanwhile, the further investigation is on and a man hunt has been launched to nab the other absconding members of the gang, they added.

தொடரும் கிறிஸ்துவ பிராடுத்தனம் - மே 21இல் இயேசு வருகிறாராம்
ஹெரோல்ட் கேம்பிங் என்ற கிறிஸ்துவ பிரச்சாரகர் மே 21ஆம் தேதி உலகம் அழியப்போகிறது இயேசு வரப்போகிறார் என்று புளுகித்தள்ளினார். அதனை நம்பி ஏராளமான மக்கள் கை காசு, வேலை, குடும்பம் எல்லாவற்றையும் விட்டுவிட்டு அல்லேலூயா என்று குதித்துகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
இதே மாதிரி 1992இல் வருவதாக போஸ்டர் ஒட்டிகொண்டிருந்தார்கள் அப்போதும் ஒன்றும் நடக்கவில்லை.

30. இவைகளெல்லாம் சம்பவிக்கும் முன்னே இந்தச் சந்ததி ஒழிந்துபோகாதென்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

இயேசு என்று சொல்லப்படுகிற இவர் 2000 வருஷத்துக்கு முன்னால் சொன்னது நடக்கவில்லை எனப்து அப்போதே காலியாகியிருக்க வேண்டும். ஆனால் என்ன செய்வது, வெள்ளைக்காரன் இந்தியர்களை ஏமாற்றுவதற்கும் இந்தியர்களை ஆளுவதற்கும் இப்படி தனது முட்டாள்தனமான மதத்தை இங்கே பரப்புகிறான். வெள்ளைக்காரன் என்று இளித்துகொண்டு மடையர்கள் மதம் மாறுகிறார்கள்.
லூசு கும்பல்கள் அல்லேலூயா என்று உளறிக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றன என்பது மட்டுமல்லாமல், மற்றவர்களையும் ஏமாற்றிகொண்டிருக்கின்றன.
இதனால் மூளை பாதிக்கப்பட்டு சொத்து வீடு குடும்பம் குழந்தைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு பைத்தியம் பிடித்து அலைகிறார்கள். அப்புறம் பே என்று விழிக்கிறார்கள்.
இப்போதும் ஒன்றும் கெட்டுப்போய்விடவில்லை.. சரி என்னமோ தப்பான நேரம் என்று பழையதை மறந்துவிட்டு மீண்டும் இந்துமதத்தில் இணையுங்கள்.
இதே மாதிரி 1992இல் வருவதாக போஸ்டர் ஒட்டிகொண்டிருந்தார்கள் அப்போதும் ஒன்றும் நடக்கவில்லை.

New Delhi, May 19(PTI) Re-conversion into Hinduism cannot act as a bar for a marriage under the Hindu Marriages Act, the Supreme Court has ruled, dismissing an appeal filed by an IAF pilot who said his wife was a Muslim. A bench of justices P Sathasivam and H L Gokhale said in a judgement that since Bhavana alias Sahar Wasif divorced her Muslim husband and re-converted to Hinduism after undergoing the "shudhkhiran" (purification) ceremonies, her re-marriage with a Hindu man was valid under Section 5 of the Act. "The material placed by the respondent--wife--in the form of oral and documentary evidence clearly show that there was no contravention of any of the provisions, more particularly, Section 5 of the Act", Justice Sathasivam writing the judgement said. The apex rejected Flying Officer Rajiv Gakhar's plea that Bhavana had concealed the fact that she was a Muslim, already married and had two children from her first husband Wasif Khalil. The bench said perusual of the records clearly revealed that Gakhar was well aware of the fact that Bhavana had re-converted to Hinduism after divorcing her Muslim husband. Gakhar had filed a suit in the year 2000 in the court of the Addl District Judge-I, Faridabad, under Sections 5 and 12 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, seeking dissolution of the marriage solemnized on November 28, 1999, at an Arya Samaj temple. WASHINGTON — Breast cancer patients who practice yoga experience lower stress and improved quality of life compared to counterparts who do stretching exercises, a US study indicated.
Researchers at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center studied 163 women with an average age of 52 who were undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer, ranging from early onset to stage three.
The women were randomly assigned to one of three groups -- yoga, simple stretching and no instruction in either.
Those assigned to yoga or stretching practiced in one-hour sessions three times a week for the duration of the six-week radiation therapy.
At the end of their radiation treatment, they were asked to report on their own health and well-being at one, three and six months after treatment, and they also underwent tests to measure heart function and stress hormone levels.
Women in the yoga and stretching groups each reported less fatigue than the non-exercise group.
But women who did yoga reported "greater benefits to physical functioning and general health... (and) were more likely to perceive positive life changes from their cancer experience than either other group."
The yoga group also saw the "steepest decline in their cortisol across the day, indicating that yoga had the ability to regulate this stress hormone," the study said.
"This is particularly important because higher stress hormone levels throughout the day, known as a blunted circadian cortisol rhythm, have been linked to worse outcomes in breast cancer."
The study was carried out at US sites, and the yoga practice techniques and instructors were provided by India's largest yoga research institution, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana in Bangalore.
Lead author Lorenzo Cohen said yoga likely helped patients deal with the transition from cancer treatment back to regular life.
"The transition from active therapy back to everyday life can be very stressful as patients no longer receive the same level of medical care and attention," Cohen said.
"Teaching patients a mind-body technique like yoga as a coping skill can make the transition less difficult."
The researchers are working on a phase III clinical trial to further study how yoga may lead to better physical functioning in breast cancer patients.
A separate study released last month suggested that regular yoga practice by cardiac patients was able to cut irregular heartbeat episodes in half.

ONE of Britain's most respected Muslim ministers was behind bars last night for raping a boy of 12 and abusing another.
Mohammed Hanif Khan - honoured by Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace for his work - preyed on the lads when they went to his mosque for religious lessons.
Imam Khan, 42, play-wrestled with one boy after prayers then raped him. He told his terrified victim: "You're my bitch."
The boy told his father - and a 15-year-old cousin revealed he had been abused. Furious relatives attacked father-of-four Khan before he was arrested.
The twice-wed holy man, whose mosque is the largest in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, was the Prison Service's first full-time Muslim minister. Khan was convicted at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday of rape and a sex act.
He was remanded in custody to await sentence.

* மத்திய, மாநில அரசுகளின் கையாலாகாத்தனமும், சிறுபான்மை ஓட்டு வங்கி அரசியலும் நாட்டின் பொது அமைதியைக் கெடுக்கத் துணைபோவதா?
முஸ்லீம் அமைப்புகளின் தேச நலனுக்கு எதிரான போக்கு குறித்து நடுநிலையாளர்கள் உடன் கண்டனம் எழுப்ப வேண்டும். மத்திய மாநில அரசுகள், காவல்துறை விரைந்து நடவடிக்கை எடுத்து, இதுபோன்ற சர்வதேச விரோதச் செயல்களுக்கு முற்றுப்புள்ளி வைக்க வேண்டும். மக்களைத் தவறான பாதைக்குத் திசை திருப்பும் தேசவிரோத வாதங்களை முளையிலேயே கிள்ளியெறியவேண்டும்.
தேசப் பாதுகாப்புக்கும், தேச நலனுக்கும் முன்னுரிமை தந்து போராடும் இந்து முன்னணி இந்தக் கோரிக்கைகளை மக்கள் முன் வைக்கிறது.

பாகிஸ்தானில் தென்மேற்கு பகுதியில் உள்ள குவெட்டா நகரில் ஷியா முஸ்லிம்கள் கூடி இருந்தபோது அங்கு வந்த சன்னி முஸ்லிம் தீவிரவாதிகள் அவர்களை நோக்கி ராக்கெட்டுகளை வீசி தாக்கினார்கள். இதில் 8 ஷியா முஸ்லிம்கள் பலியானார்கள். 15 பேர் காயம் அடைந்தனர். இந்த சம்பவம் குவெட்டா நகர் அருகில் உள்ள ஹசாரா நகர பூங்காவில் நடந்தது.
இதன் பிறகு தாக்குதல் நடத்திய தீவிரவாதிகள் அங்கு இருந்து ஓடிவிட்டனர். இந்த தாக்குதலுக்கு எந்த ஒரு தீவிரவாத அமைப்பும் பொறுப்பு ஏற்கவில்லை.
கடந்த காலத்தில் லஸ்கர் இ ஜாங்வி அமைப்பு தான் ஷியா முஸ்லிம்கள் மீது தாக்குதல் நடத்தியது என்பதை அதிகாரிகள் சுட்டிக்காட்டுகிறார்கள். பாகிஸ்தான் மொத்த மக்கள் தொகையில் 20 சதவீதம் பேர் ஷியா முஸ்லிம்கள் ஆவார்கள். இந்த தாக்குதலை தொடர்ந்து ஷியா முஸ்லிம்கள் பதிலடி கொடுப்பார்கள் என்று அஞ்சப்படுகிறது.

சர்வதேச பயங்கரவாதி என அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த ஒசாமா பின்லேடனை அமெரிக்கா கமாண்டே படையினர் கடந்த சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்பு பாகிஸ்தானில் சுட்டுக்கொன்றனர். ஓசாமா பின்லேடனுக்காக கொல்கத்தாவில் உள்ள திப்புய் சுல்தான் மசூதியில் சிறப்புத் தொழுகை நடைபெற்றிருந்தது அறிந்ததே. சென்னை அண்ணாசாலையில் உள்ள மக்கா மஸ்ஜித் இஸ்லாமிய மையத்திலும் விஷேச தொழுகை நடைபெற்றிருப்பதாகத் தமிழகத் தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.இந்தத் தொழுகையில் இஸ்லாமியர்கள் பலர் கலந்து கொண்டதாகவும், தொழுகைக்கு முன்பாக ஒசாமா பின்லேடனுக்கு ஆதரவாக பேசிய இஸ்லாமியர்கள் தங்கள் குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஒசாமா பின்லேடன் பெயரை சூட்ட இருப்பதாக தெரிவித்திருப்பதாகவும் மேலம் அச் செய்திகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
இது தொடர்பில் மேலும் அறிகையில், பள்ளிவாசலை சுற்றி சில இடங்களில் ஒசாமா பின்லேடனுக்கு ஆதரவாக போஸ்டர்கள் ஒட்டப்பட்டிருந்தது பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியது. இந்த தொழுகைக்கு பிறகு மக்கா மஸ்ஜித் இஸ்லாமிய மையத்தின் நிர்வாகிகள் நிருபர்களுக்கு பேட்டி அளிக்கையில்; அமெரிக்காவின் இரட்டை கோபுரம் தகர்ப்பு சம்பவத்திற்கு பின்லேடன் தான் காரணம் என்று அமெரிக்கா கூறி வந்தது. ஆனால் அதற்கான ஆதாரத்தை அமெரிக்கா வெளியிடவில்லை.இப்போது ஒசாமாவை கொன்று கடலில் வீசியிருக்கிறார்கள். இஸ்லாமிய முறைப்படி அவரை அடக்கம் செய்யவில்லை. அவர்கள் ஒசாமா பின்லேடனை நீதிக்கு முன்பு நிறுத்தியிருக்க வேண்டும். அதை விட்டு அவரை சுட்டுக்கொன்று இருப்பது எந்த விதத்தில் நியாயம்? அவர் அநாதை இல்லை. முஸ்லிம் சமுதாயத்தின் பங்கு. அவருக்காக இன்று `ஜனாஷா' தொழுகையை நடத்தியிருக்கிறோம். ஆனால் நாங்கள் தீவிரவாதத்தையும், பயங்கரவாதத்தையும் ஆதரிக்கவில்லை.
இந்தியாவால் தடை செய்யப்பட்ட விடுதலைப்புலிகள் இயக்கத்தை சேர்ந்த, மறைந்த பிரதமர் ராஜீவ்காந்தி கொலை வழக்கில் தேடப்பட்ட குற்றவாளியாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட, பிரபாகரனுக்காக தமிழ்நாட்டில் இரங்கல் தெரிவித்து கூட்டம் நடத்தப்பட்டிருக்கம் போது, தடை செய்யப்பட்ட இயக்கத்திற்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவிக்கும்போது, நாங்கள் தொழுகை நடத்துவதை தவறெனக் கொள்ள முடியாது. மேலும், நாங்கள் எங்கள் பள்ளிவாசலுக்குள்ளே தான் செயல்படுகிறோம். வெளியில் ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் எதுவும் நடத்தப்போவதில்லை. மறைந்த ஒசாமா பின்லேடனுக்காக தமிழகம் முழுவதும் மசூதிகளிலும், பள்ளிவாசல்களிலும் தொழுகை நடத்தப்படும் என்றும் அவர்கள் தெரிவித்ததாக அறிய வருகிறது.
