Hundreds of terrorists waiting to cross over to India

100 terrorists waiting to enter India
HOT SUMMER: The inputs come even as a fresh set of Wiki cables reinforce the direct links between ISI and militants.
NEW DELHI: The Line of Control could turn red-hot once again. Even as disclosures byGuantanamo Bay detainees show al-Qaida had plans to bomb an Indian airliner and that Pakistanarmy and ISI have for long been directly involved in training and directing anti-India terrorists, Indian security forces are bracing for a "hot" summer in Kashmir and elsewhere.

Latest intelligence inputs show over 100 terrorists are waiting at the "launch pads" along the LoC to infiltrate into J&K, with another 700-800 militants holed up in different terror-training camps in Pakistan.

This comes even as a fresh set of US cables released by Wikileaks has reinforced the direct links between ISI and anti-India terror outfits like Laskhar-eTaiba, which even hold that the Pakistan army plays a role in selecting the targets to be attacked.

The US records, based on the interrogation reports of 779 prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, also clearly show that Washington was well aware that Pakistan's security establishment was running terror-training camps directed against India.

Abdul Azia, an al-Qaida courier and LeT operative from Algeria arrested by the US in 2002, for instance, is quoted as saying that ISI "allowed" militants to sneak inside India to bomb, kidnap or kill Kashmiri people. His mission, he said, was to "kill Indians in India".

Other detainees held that al-Qaida, apart from the plan to bomb an Indian airliner, was interested in India as "a platform to send operatives to the US or UK because of the large Muslim population there and the low-level of scrutiny given to travellers of Indian nationality".

Indian security and intelligence agencies maintain that there are still 34 'active' and eight 'holding' camps operational across the border. The 'active' camps in PoK range from those in Kotli, Garhi Dupatta, Nikial, Forward Kahutta and Peer Chinasi to the ones in Jhandi Chauntra, Bhimbher, Barnala, Skardu and Abdullah Bin Masud. The North-West Frontier Province also remains a prominent centre for training jihadis, especially in the densely-forested and hilly Manshera region.

The recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan – thrice in two weeks – are seen as attempts to infiltrate terrorists into J&K. "Firing from across the border generally takes place to provide cover to terrorists who want to infiltrate. Security forces have been asked to remain vigilant as such attempts may be repeated," said an official.

The ceasefire violations along the LoC took place on May 5, April 24 and April 22. The Indo-Pak ceasefire, along the 198-km international border in J&K, the 778-km LoC and the 110-km Actual Ground Position Line in the Siachen-Saltoro Ridge region, came into force as a confidence-building measure in November 2003. While in the initial years it largely held, Pakistan army has gone back to its old gambit of giving "covering or diversionary fire" to help infiltrating militants.

AFTENPOSTEN: LITTLE GIRLS ENDING UP AS SEX SLAVES FOR THE SAUDIS…….

Yes folks, what’s happening in the Islamic world is far worse than anything happening in the Catholic Church where pedophilia is concerned, because Islam approves of adult-child sexual relations. In many Muslim countries they call it marriage, but we call it rape, the sexual abuse of minors. This institutionalized form of rape was sanctioned by the founder of Islam, and central to the question of why it’s still tolerated in the Islamic world today. KGS

Little girls end up as sex slaves for Saudis

Aftenposten: Girl Children between five and 12 years old are sold to wealthy men in Saudi Arabia, where they are held as sex slaves. When they reach maturity, and many are thrown on the street and they end quickly as a prostitute.
TRON STRAND
Save the Children appeal to the Norwegian and Swedish ministers take up the issue with their Saudi counterparts, and asks private companies to take up the exploitation of children when they hit their business.
- I am not surprised by the information about the existence of such traffic to Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region, particularly in light of that marriage with children is widespread and accepted, “said Sannah Johnson, regional director of the Middle East for the Swedish Save the Children.
A well-organized network of traffickers supplying the Arab market with child brides from the North African country of Mauritania, says U.S. diplomats. Retrieved as sex slaves in their thousands from Yemen, in addition to that there is an extensive sex industry in Yemen offering sex with minors to rich men from the Gulf states, the Wikileaks documents and Aftenposten Bergens Tidende has access to.
7. April 2009
An engaged woman meets an American diplomat in Mauritania’s capital Nouakchott. The day after the diplomat writes a report back to Washington. To start it:
“There is an increase in reports of trafficking of child brides to Saudi Arabia. The girls, usually between five and 12 years old, married off to wealthy Saudi men in exchange for hefty price tags for brides. As soon as they arrive in Saudi Arabia, they become sex slaves of their husbands. “
The engaged woman named Aminetou Mint El Moctar. Completely on their own, she has started a campaign to get the authorities in Mauritania to take the problem seriously. She will not even answer his letters and asks why the United States take up the issue internationally. At the U.S. embassy, she finds one that finally listens.
Large sums of money
Aminetou Mint El Moctar says that traffickers seek out poor families to get them to marry off their daughters to wealthy Saudis. The younger girls are, the higher the price. A child bride can be paid with 5 – 6 million in the local currency ouguiya, equivalent to around 120 000. Local travel agencies, which in reality is a network of traffickers, organized traffic. The local agent receives a bonus paid by the girls’ future husbands. Amount of which depends on the girls’ age and beauty.
The embassy memo further states that “barnebrudene, as soon as they arrive in Saudi Arabia, the sex slaves of their husbands.” Aminetou explained that the girls, as they reach puberty and become pregnant, no longer of interest to their husbands. “They rolled on the street, and since they do not have any network, they have no other choice than to be prostitute.”
Entrapment
Officials from the U.S. embassy tells of a girl who for three years was locked in a room where she met with someone other than her Saudi husband and his maid. They also refer to an article in the Radio France International with a diploma from seven-year-old Mulheri exposed to traffickers and sold to Saudi Arabia.
At the same time victims of trafficking in danger of being prosecuted in Saudi Arabia. Mint El Moctar told diplomats that around 30 Mauritanian women are sentenced to imprisonment in Saudi Arabia to be a prostitute, even though they are victims of trafficking.
Mauritania has long refused to recognize the problem. Faced with U.S. diplomats have a representative of Mauritania Justice Department argued that “the trafficking of Mauritanian women do not exist and that human trafficking to Saudi Arabia is not possible because the country’s laws require that a woman can only travel accompanied by male family members.”
Death threats
According to the embassy note has Aminetou Mint El Moctar told she has “received death threats and she is called” liar, a crazy woman and a traitor who destroy Mauritania reputation. “
Aminetou Mint El Moctar was honored last year by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just for his work against human trafficking and to put the problem of child brides on the agenda of the African country.
U.S. publishes reports on human trafficking in every country. About Saudi Arabia says the latest report from 2010:
“Many Saudis, including some representatives of government, continues to deny that some types of human trafficking takes place, particularly in cases involving sexual exploitation.”
Closed countries
Sanna Johnson in Swedish Save the Children lead the organization’s activities in the Middle East from his office in Beirut. She says that independent organizations can not escape to Saudi Arabia and that the country is very closed.
- We know well that the child workers and domestic workers are as good as legal rights in the country. They have no rights. The Kingdom has suggested that professionals employed in hospitals where women who have been victims of abuse, be received. This means that the government acknowledges that the problem exists, “says Johnson.
- There are things that are not acceptable as marriage of minors. It must be highlighted. I think the governments of Norway and Sweden should take it up with their Saudi counterparts, when the opportunity presents itself. But I also think private companies should take it up with their business partners in the country, “said Johnson.
- The large companies, such as in the arms industry, can have an extremely large impact, “she said.
Gift for a while
Johnson also refers to the widespread practice of so-called temporary marriages in the Arab countries. To circumvent the ban on sex outside marriage, included men in these countries temporary marriages with girls and young women from several countries.
There is also some evidence that the practice of child brides is becoming a controversial issue in Saudi Arabia’s quasi-rooms. Many of its citizens deplore the practice. A few examples are discussed in the country’s media:
A local judge in the town of Nejd in 2008 refused to overturn a marriage between an eight-year-old girl and her husband for fifty years. The girl’s father sold her to settle its debt to the man. A higher court granted a divorce in April 2009.
The government-affiliated Commission on Human Rights in Saudi Arabia was able to void a marriage between a 10 year old girl and a 60-year-old man.
A court in Bisha issued in October 2008, a divorce document to end a marriage between a 14-year-old girl and her 70 year old man.
In January 2009, won an 11-year-old girl presented with a case to get a marriage annulled by a 75-year-old man, held by the girl’s 70 year old father.
Sex tourism
In Saudi Arabia neighboring Yemen is the problem of sex tourism, human interest and child brides formidable. It attracted international attention when the 12 year-old Fawzia Abdullah Yousef died in childbirth 11 September 2009. She was married to a 24-year-old, only 11 years old.
According to a note from the Embassy of Yemen’s capital Sanaa, about 25 percent of all girls in the country married before the age of 15 years. Yemeni authorities have, to the United States, expressed frustration over how little Saudi Arabia is doing to combat human trafficking from Yemen to Saudi Arabia.
According to an embassy memo, thousands of children each year in Saudi Arabia, “where they face abuse and harsh living conditions.”
Local human rights groups say it was long common for Saudi Arabia imprisoned minors, and minors must also have been were decapitated. Since 2008, Saudi Arabia, however, returned several minors to Yemen, instead of taking them into custody.
That rich tourists from the Gulf states travel to Yemen to buy sex, is a public secret in Yemen. Underage prostitute working out of many of the hotels in the country.
The embassy memo states that “Saudi men travel to Yemen to establish relations with underage prostitute, sometimes in the form of temporary marriage.” One source says he knows of “at least three instances where Saudi men have married Yemeni women and then force them into prostitution in Saudi Arabia.”

MANAMA, Bahrain -- In the ancient Bahraini village of Aali, where some graves date to 2000 BC, the Amir Mohammed Braighi mosque had stood for more than 400 years -- one of the handsomest Shi'ite Muslim mosques in the small island nation in the Persian Gulf.

Today, only bulldozer tracks remain.

In Nwaidrat, where anti-government protests began Feb. 14, the Mo'men mosque had long been a center for the town's Shi'ite population -- photos show it as a handsome, square building neatly painted in ochre, with white and green trim, and a short portico in dark gray forming the main entrance.

Today, only the portico remains.

"When I was a child, I used to go and pray with my grandfather," said a 52-year-old local resident, who asked to be called only Abu Hadi. The area used to be totally green, with tiers of sweet water wells, he said.

"Why did they destroy this mosque?" Abu Hadi wailed. "Muslims have prayed there for decades."

In Shi'ite villages across the island kingdom of 1.2 million, the Sunni Muslim government has bulldozed dozens of mosques as part of a crackdown on Shi'ite dissidents.

Authorities have held secret trials where protesters have been sentenced to death, arrested prominent mainstream opposition politicians, jailed nurses and doctors who treated injured protesters, seized the health care system that had been run primarily by Shi'ites, fired 1,000 Shi'ite professionals and canceled their pensions, detained students and teachers who took part in the protests, beat and arrested journalists, and forced the closure of the only opposition newspaper.

Nothing, however, has struck harder at the fabric of Bahrain, where Shi'ites outnumber Sunnis nearly 4 to 1, than the destruction of Shi'ite worship centers.

The Obama administration has said nothing in public about the destruction.

Bahrain and its patron, Saudi Arabia, are longtime U.S. allies, and Bahrain hosts the headquarters of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Osama bin Laden was a "warrior" who will be rewarded in heaven for the "great sacrifices" he made for Islam, Indonesia's best-known radical cleric said Monday.

Abu Bakar Bashir, accused of helping set up a terror training camp in westernmost Aceh province, made the comments before proceedings at his ongoing trial in Jakarta.

Prosecutors on Monday demanded life in prison for the fiery 72-year-old cleric, saying he helped plan and fund terrorist activities in the world's most populous Muslim nation.

Bashir, who was co-founder of the al-Qaida-linked network Jemaah Islamiyah that is blamed for some of the country's deadliest suicide bombings, had no immediate comment about the sentencing request.

Bashir had earlier told reporters that bin Laden was "a great mujahid (Muslim warrior)."

"If it's true that he's been killed, his face destroyed and disposed of in the sea, he will get a great honor from God and will get a great reward," he said.

Bashir, who has twice escaped terror charges, is now accused of helping set up, fund and recruit foot-soldiers for an Aceh-based terror cell that was allegedly planning Mumbai-style gun attacks on foreigners and the assassination of high-profile moderate Muslim leaders like President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The white-bearded, bespectacled cleric has denied involvement, but has said repeatedly he approved of its aim.

Chief prosecutor Andi Muhammad Taufik said Monday that testimony from dozens of witnesses during the course of Bashir's trial prove that he not only incited others but played an active role in terrorist activities.

Indonesia, a secular nation of 237 million with more Muslims than any other in the world, has made strides in fighting terrorism since the first and deadliest Jemaah Islamiyah-linked attack on Bali island.

More than 260 people have died altogether, many of them Western tourists.

But the country still faces pockets of radicalized Islamists and a small but increasingly vocal hard-line fringe has rattled nerves in recent months with violent attacks on minorities and police.

Delhi court validates divorce communicated by hired agents under Shia Islamic Law
Published: Monday, May 9, 2011, 4:20 IST
By Rakesh Bhatnagar | Place: Mumbai | Agency: DNA

After the email, the SMS and the telephone it’s the turn of the hired courier to say ‘talaq’ and get the job done for the husband! Yep, this has been accepted as a legal right.

A Delhi court has validated divorce given by a Shia Muslim,Sabir Hussain, to his wife Mumtaz through another man appointed by him as his agent to pronounce the word ‘talaq’ in Arabic as he could not speak that language. Additional District Judge Reetesh Singh said Hussain has duly proved that he had obtained divorce from Mumtaz as prescribed under Shia Muslim Law.

It is held under Shia Muslim law that if a husband isn’t conversant with Arabic he can engage/hire an agent to pronounce ‘talaq’ on his behalf in the presence of two witnesses. Mumtaz had contended that to secure divorce under Shia Muslim Law ‘talaq’ should be pronounced only in Arabic, and that by the husband himself. Hussain was married to Mumtaz in 1992. They have two sons and a daughter.

While ‘talaq’ by agent is new, former deputy chief minister of Haryana Chander Mohan, the son of Bhajan Lal,who converted to Islam and called himself Chand Mohammed, is also in the thick of a legal battle overgiving divorce by SMS to his converted wife, a former deputy advocate general of the state. He used the digital means to say `talaq’ to second wife Fiza. Muslim scholars have termed it “unacceptable” and say there is no concept of instant divorce in Islam.

Militants kill 2 in restive Thai south

Security forces investigate the site of a shooting attack in front of a mosque in the southern Pattani province May 8, 2011. -- PHOTO: REUTERS

YALA - SUSPECTED insurgents killed two Buddhists in a drive-by shooting on Sunday in Thailand's deep south, police said, the latest in an upsurge of violence in the troubled region bordering Malaysia.

The attack took place in front of a mosque in Pattani province a day after twin bombings by suspected rebels killed at least seven security forces, marking one the region's deadliest days in several months.

The intensity of violence in Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani has increased this year and attacks include powerful roadside bombings, an assassination attempt on a provincial governor and a deadly weapons raid on a poorly guarded army barracks.

Thailand's deep south is among Asia's most violent places, with more than 4,500 people killed since 2004 in gun and bomb attacks the authorities blame on militants fighting for autonomy for the region's ethnic Malay Muslim majority.

Rights groups and many local Muslims believe security forces and armed Buddhist vigilantes have carried out extrajudicial killings and are angered by what they say is a refusal by the government to punish those responsible.

The authorities dismiss the allegations and say local people are being influenced by rebel propaganda and attempts by the shadowy insurgents to discredit police and the army and stir communal tensions between Muslims and minority Buddhists. -- REUTERS

Fake Zamzam water sale thriving along highways

Published: May 9, 2011 00:42 Updated: May 9, 2011 00:42

MAKKAH: A large number of illegal foreigners and some Saudi citizens have made selling fake Zamzam water a lucrative profession. They mix the holy water with ordinary water and sell the mixture as pure Zamzam water.

The fake water may have adverse health effects that can be perilous for the users. The sellers of fake Zamzam water are spreading along the highways, around the exits and entries of Makkah, and near the holy mosques. They continue their illegal trade without heeding the concerned authorities that are always after them.

Arab News made a tour of the places where fake Zamzam water is put for sale. The tour started at the central area of the Haram in Al-Ghazzah area, where many people from the African communities practice this illegal profession. They buy new empty gallons in various colors, put a small quantity of Zamzam water in them and fill the rest with plain water. They do the mixing of water in far away places and then bring their products to Al-Ghazzah area with its concentration of pilgrims and visitors. Their selling operation continues 24 hours a day, but they run away and hide whenever a security team is spotted.

In Kudai area, which has a pumping station for Zamzam water, a number of Africans, Burmese and Bangladeshis fill their gallons with Zamzam water. They empty part of the gallons in other containers, fill them with ordinary water, and sell the mixture to the salesmen around the Jeddah-Makkah Expressway. Evidently, they do this illegal job away from the eyes of the passport police.

Along the expressway, particularly near the gas stations around Makkah exits, are some groups of people selling their fake water round the clock. They put their gallons on small trucks parked there, after covering them with cloth. They leave for their homes at night and return next day to continue their job. The Zamzam water may be exposed to direct sun rays and to dust, making the fake holy water unhygienic.

Sellers of the fake Zamzam water may make more than SR400 a day, going up to SR600 during weekends and school summer vacation. A large gallon of the mixed water is sold at SR15, the medium at SR10, and the small at SR5. They buy the Zamzam water from the pumping station at SR2 a gallon.

Consultants and doctors specialized in chest diseases warn against the risk of such water, which may cause various diseases including diarrhea and typhoid. They advise all interested purchasers to buy directly from the filling factory.

‘Tablighi Jamaat Qaeda Delhi cover’

AL-Qaeda operatives used a New Delhi-based organisation, Tablighi Jamaat, as a cover to obtain travel documents and shelter. As per disclosures of Guantanamo Bay detainees, released by WikiLeaks, the affiliation with the organisation was “identified as an al-Qaeda cover story”.
Furthermore, say the papers, at least three of the hardcore inmates at the prison had stayed at the organisation’s facilities in Delhi and around.
The records revealed by WikiLeaks contain interrogation reports and analysis of 779 inmates of the Cuba bay prison.
Rubbishing the charge, Syed Shaukat Ali, who is associated with the Tablighi Jamaat, said their facilities were open to all. Questioning the authenticity of the WikiLeaks records, he said: “It is known that such statements are forced to be made under duress. Anybody can visit the mosque at Nizamuddin as it is open to all. You can also go. Please visit and see it for yourself.”
The US records identify the New Delhi-headquartered Jamaat Tabligh (as the name appears in its records) as a “proselytising organisation that willingly supports terrorists”.
A note on the organisation buried deep in the files states, “Affiliation with the JT (Jamaat Tabligh) has been identified as an al-Qaida cover story. Al-Qaida used the JT to facilitate and fund the international travels of its members. Most recently the JT has been linked to the 11 July, 2006, terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, in which at least 207 people were killed and over 800 injured.”
The records also say that “Al-Qaida used the JT to facilitate and fund the international travel of its members”. Several of the inmates are recorded as having used JT’s facilities in India and abroad for shelter and travel documents.
Somalian resident Muhammad Sulayman, who has been identified as a member and financier of al-Qaeda, used the New Delhi HQ of the organisation to get travel documents for Pakistan. “He was denied UN refugee status in India, but he obtained a visa to travel to Pakistan under the sponsorship of Jamaat Tablighi (JT). Detainee stated he had no intention of performing missionary duties or serving with the JT; he just used the group to get a visa,” the record states.
A Sudanese Lashkar-e-Toiba recruiter, Amir Mohammed, has also been recorded as using the JT to obtain a visa for Pakistan where he joined a terror training camp. “In early 1991, detainee flew from Sudan to India (IN) via Kenya. On the flight to India, detainee met a representative of the Tabligh movement who told detainee about a large Tabligh center in New Delhi, IN, where he could go for assistance. Detainee misrepresented himself as an interested Tabligh candidate in order to obtain a Pakistani visa,” his dossier states.
Abdul Bukhary, a Saudi Arabian member of the al-Qaeda is recorded as staying at the “JT headquarters in Nizam-e-Alden for a month”, before travelling to Pakistan to join a terror camp.
While there are several other records in the files on the organisation, members say that the Tablighi Jamaat is not a formal organisation but can be called a group of missionaries “engaged in conducting religious discourses at mosques to impart lessons in Islam and Islamic faith”.
While denying claims that al-Qaeda operatives stayed at its headquarters in Nizammudin, Syed Shaukat Ali, who is associated with the organisation, said foreigners did participate at prayers but their passports were submitted for verification. “We get to know their (foreigners’) details beforehand as such visits are coordinated by Tablighi chapters abroad. Besides, foreigners are generally asked to submit their passports for verification,” he said
